Silly crossover idea

So Project Hail Mary has a coma resistant gene (in the book) as an explanation for why the pool of astronaut candidates is so small. Only 1 in 7500 (if my memory serves) chance of having it.

And that just got me thinking of another sci-fi series that has an uncommon genetic oddity as an explanation for a major plot point:

Midichlorians!

In Star Wars, midichlorians live inside the cells of all living things in the Star Wars universe and those who have a lot are Force Sensitive (in varying degrees). The more you had, the stronger you were in the Force and the more abilities you could use with greater ease (It is very handwavy)

ANYWAY

I had the thought about - what if these two were one and the same? Yáo and Olesya didn't survive their comas as they had enough midichlorians to register on the test but not enough to actually survive. But Grace did (hibernation trance)!

I am tickled by the thought of Grace accidentally using the Force after having woken from his coma with amnesia and trying to piece together not only his past and their mission, but also getting a handle on his (new) abilities. Add in the chaos of zero G too

my hot take is that no obi-wan is not a slut. oh he ACTS the slut. he loves to flirt. he'll use those charms to get his way in negotiations or to distract his enemies. part of him preens at the attention he receives (he'll never admit this to you or himself) but he is presenting the front of the perfect jedi so so hard. the perfect jedi has no passions. they are sexless. he does not sleep around. he acts like a fucking prude when sex is brought up in the wrong context/way bcs he thinks it makes him sound more jedi-like. he's not a prude but he is repressed, and dedicated to convincing everyone else and himself that he is the ultimate jedi.

obi-wan kenobi is a fucking tease. perhaps the greatest tease the galaxy has ever seen.

Anakin isn’t Obi-wan’s son.

He’s not his brother.

The Jedi do not permit attachment in that way; yes they say shit like ‘your my brother’ but they do not actually understand that dynamic in the familial sense.

He is his student and if that squicks you fine. Valid. There is a power imbalance dynamic there.

But you can also argue the opposite being true in that Anakin is the god damn chosen one and a MESSIAH FIGURE, at least to some degree, to the Jedi via the prophecy and Obi-wan’s literal sole reason for continuing to live via his promise to look after him that he made to Qui-gon.

Can we stop? Please? Or at the very least can we discuss the matter of it being ‘icky’ in ways that are actually present instead of hallucinated by people desperate to make things more morally objectionable to theoretical mainstream audiences than they actually would be. Nevermind the fact that incest IS mainstream in fiction, lmao. Game of Thrones kind of fucked you over there. And also proudly present in canon Star Wars because George Lucas made Luke and Leia kiss on screen in 19 god damn 80.

Sometimes I think about my childhood and remember how lonely I was and feel sad and then I remember Anakin canonically was developmentally stunted, offputting to everyone around him due to his neurodivergent tendencies except for one dude who was contractually obligated to care for him after his pseudo deadbeat dad died, and had no friends except for this one contractually obligated ALSO developmentally stunted person and I smile
