special containment prociedures:
SCP-97421 is to be housed in a standard humanoid containment cell. SCP-97421 may request furniture, literature, and other objects at the discretion of it's team of caretakers. requests for classified information, anomalous objects or any form of internet access are to be denied.
SCP-97421 is allowed to freely move around the site with level 0 access between the hours of 10pm and 8am.
SCP-97421 has a weekly interview scheduled with doctor Liska at monday 4pm to 5:30pm.
SCP-97421 is a 19 year old human of british descent by the name of Sammy West.
SCP-97421 is not male, and not female, nor is it both, neither or anything inbetween. neither the genome nor the physical attributes of SCP-97421 match with any currently known intersex conditions.
people observing and interacting with SCP-97421 instinctually seem to understand that it is neither a man nor a woman, naturally referring to it with gender neutral language. those affected by this do not seem to notice the abnormalities in SCP-97421 or their own behaviour until their attention is brought to it directly.
researcher note - could this be a cognitohazard, or a memetic agent?
reasercher note - unlikely, the effect seems to occur regardless of one's cognitive resistance value, implying a very strong mental effect, but despite this, the effect can be easily cancelled out by simply bringing attention to it. there's likely something else going on.
despite the fact that SCP-97421 has seemingly exhibited it's anomalous traits from birth, it's perception altering ability has prevented it from being discovered until recently.
on the 29th of June, 2026, SCP-97421 entered a paranoid and delusional state, ranting and raving about how the world has changed in some invisible way.
the increased attention drawn to it allowed for foundation officers to identify it as an anomaly, and easily apprehend it.
select amnestics were applied to the family of SCP-97421 to convince them it had simply left for university.
doctor Liska: hello, scp...
(doctor liska briefly glances at her notepad)
Liska: 97421, i'm here to ask you some questions about yourself.
97421: i want a lawyer!
Liska: goddamn it, what are they teaching the aquisitions teams? - i am a doctor working for the SCP foundation, have you ever watched men in black?
(SCP-97421 nods slightly)
Liska: yea, we're a bit like them, we find all the weird and supernatural things in the world, which we call anomalies, and we Securely Contain them, to Protect the public, hence "scp"
(SCP-97421's eyes widen)
97421: oh, thank god, umm, i've got an anomaly i'd like to report, please, miss, doctor.
(Liska raises an eyebrow)
97421: so, like, last night, when i was asleep, seemingly all the other kinen disappeared, and nobody remembers them!
Liska: and what is a kinen?
97421: what? you know, kinen? tuns? comales? don't you remember?
Liska: i'm afraid to say i don't know any of those words.
97421: i'm a kinen! me! isn't it obvious? how could everyone forget? am i the last one? am i-
Liska: -please calm down, don't worry, nothing is going to happen to you, i just want to know, to make things better.
(Liska notes something down on her cliboard)
97421:...i'm sorry i-
Liska: don't be, you've clearly gone through something very scary, and again, we just want to help!
97421: ok... i am a kinen, like you are a woman. i am a tun, like you are a girl. i am a comale, like you are a female. last night, before i went to bed, i had a cothen - um - a comale parent, i mean - and two little, uh, comale siblings too. when i woke up, only my mum was left, and she didn't even remember xyr name!
Liska: interesting... so you're saying there was a third gender that dissapeared overnight?
97421: yes, yes... although, i'd probably say women are actually the third gender, no offense.
(Liska chuckles a small amount)
Liska: none taken
(Liska sighs)
Liska: i have some bad news, 97421
97421: what's that mean?
Liska: i'm afraid that the foundation-
97421: no, i mean the number.
Liska: oh. did the acquisitions team tell you nothing? SCP-97421 is your name, in the official foundation documentation.
97421: why is that? why not just call me Sammy West?
Liska: partly because they told me almost nothing went they sent me to interview you, and partly because that is how we categorise anomalies.
97421: wha- but, but i'm not an anomaly!
Liska: that depends on your definition, i'm afraid... if your story is true, then you have survived a massive reality restructuring event. which means that you are probably anomalous. and even if you aren't, you are living evidence that such an event has happened, which is information that could cause mass hysteria. and if your story isn't true,
97421: i'm not a liar
Liska: i don't think you are, but me and my higher ups would be bad at our job if we didn't consider the possibility. anyway, if your story isn't true, you still have an anomalous effect on people's perceptions of you, one that's let you fly under the foundation radar for 19 years.
97421: what?
Liska: basically, people don't see it as weird that you're a "tun"
97421: why would they?
Liska: because... do you know what a nonbinary person is?
97421: you mean nontrinary people?
Liska: yeah, that makes sense, um, were those people treated as "normal" in your world? before the comales went away, i mean?
97421: i wouldn't've, blue hair and pronoun freaks!
Liska: ...you understand that right now, you are essentially "nontrinary".
97421: no i'm not i'm a regular old kin- oh, i see it now.
Liska: yea, and despite the fact that nonbinary people aren't widely accepted, people seem to instinctively understand your gender, just so long as they aren't actively questioning it. and that is enough to qualify as an anomally.
97421: oh. are you gonna, like, disect me or something?
Liska: i'd love to, unfortunately this entire site lacks the budget and clearance for it.
97421: damn
researcher note - i suggest we further investigate SCP-97421, if what it says is true, and the entire "kinen" gender disappeared without a trace, then other genders could disappear too: that's a potential K-class scenario! at the very least, we could start calling the event SCP-97421-1 or something for the sake of expediance.
researcher note - i tried to raise the issue of the potential K-class scenario inherent with SCP-97421 with my higher ups. they said i'd need definitive proof of SCP-97421's claims. i tried to get the equipment i'd need to test for a huge reality bending event like this, but our site lacks the funding. ironically the only way we could get that kinda funding was if we had an SCP that posed a K-class threat.
the following are a series of notes written and collected by doctor Liska regarding the world before the supposed disappearance of the kinen gender according to SCP-97421
kinen are reffered to using "xe/xem" pronouns (with SCP-97421 showing annoyance and frustration towards being referred to with they/them or it/that pronouns) upon being told that certain queer people still use those pronouns, SCP-97421 suggested that they remembered the world before in some way. this hypothesis cannot be tested.
kinen are stereotypically associated with "nerdy" behaviour. with accountant, tech support, librarian, and even scientist, being considered "comenine" jobs.
all popular media that exists in the current timeline also existed before the disappearance of kinen. however, most stories featuring comale protagonists are not present in the current timeline, and many stories that were well received in SCP-97421's timeline completely flopped in our own due to the absence of plot critical or fan favourite comale characters.
unlike men, who have pretty much always held societal dominance, and women, who have been historically opressed until very recently - kinen have a very unstable place in the societal structure across history. in the 1800s, kinen possessed an almost equivelant level of societal power as men, but in the modern day, they have recently lost the right to vote.
kinen were not transformed into men or women, but instead disappeared completely. for this reason, the population of earth in SCP-97421's home timeline was over 10.6 billion.
"heterosexual" or "straight" attraction is defined specifically as an attraction to both genders other than your own. polyamory is considered normal in SCP-97421's timeline, with it being expected that a man, a woman and a kinen will all marry together. as a consiquence of this, terms for sexuality in SCP-97421's timeline are much more complex.
comales play some essential role in reproduction that is neither insemination, nor carrying the child. SCP-97421 was (understandibly) very cagey about the topic, and unwilling to let doctor Mcrew analyse xyr genital structure.
researcher note - doctor Mccrew has been reported to HR, and sumerally banned from direct interaction with SCP-97421
apparently americans spell the kinan possessive pronoun as "xer", whereas the british spell it as "xyr". SCP-97421 was adamant that "xyr" is the correct spelling.
cloaks and gloves are considered to be very comenine clothing. during early containment, SCP-97421 was noted chuckling at certain researchers wearing long labcoats, for their percieved crossdressing.
researcher note - SCP-97421 has expressed discomfort with the standard uniform given to them, for it's perceived masculinity. i think we should allow it some more "comenine" clothing, as it is likely to cause some small improvement in SCP-97421's mental state.
despite being initially very transphobic when entering containment, SCP-97421 has bonded with nonbinary and later transfem and transmasc staff members, over similar feelings and experiences. consequently, SCP-97421 has expressed a desire to kill JK Rowling.
