A common misconception is that occasionally people believe that she was also the mother of the famous Pharaoh Tutankhamun. As a matter of fact she was his step mother and eventually he would end up marrying one of her daughters called Ankhesenamun. Nefertiti and Akhenaten made their stamp in history when they created a whole new religion and virtually rejected all the old gods over night. They started worshiping only one god called the Aten (also referred as the sun disc). Needless to say this generated a number of enemies especially within the priests of the old gods whose power was stripped down.
While there is no absolute proof of it some scholars believe that Nefertiti ruled briefly as Neferneferuaten after her husband’s death and before the accession of Tutankhamun.
Nefertiti had many titles including:
Hereditary Princess Great of Praises Lady of Grace Sweet of Love Lady of The Two Lands Main King’s Wife, his beloved Great King’s Wife, his beloved Lady of all Women Mistress of Upper and Lower Egypt
The cause of death of Nefertiti has been lost in time. Both her tomb and mummy have never been found. Over the years there have been some claims about her mummy being found but as of right now she is still lost to us all.
