Jaden grinned with glee when Andrew joined her. Crime fighting was always more fun with friends. “Thank you, Eros,” she chuckled, deciding to join him on the ground. She landed gracefully next to her fellow vigilante, clicking her tongue against her teeth as the poor man fell to the ground from Andrew’s knife. “You’d think they’d learn by now, right?” she snorted, watching the guy get back up and try to take off. “My turn.” She took up her bow and arrow again, drawing the arrow back and letting it fly right into the back of the man’s shoulder. He fell forward again, crying out in pain. “Think he’s going anywhere after that?” she asked Andrew with a grin.

Andrew felt a grin pulling at his own lips at Jaden’s joy that he was there. He was glad that she enjoyed having him around and enjoyed working with him. “Y’know, I don’t think they ever will, but it means we get to have fun at least,” he said with a laugh, letting her take lead. “No, he’s definitely down for the count... With some pretty nasty wounds. Should we take him to the hospital and then call the police or just straight to C.A.R.M.A.?”

Thanks to Ruby––otherwise known as “Glitch”––some trouble had been detected in Wayland Hills. Jaden was right on it, donned in her uniform under her alter-ego “Enchantress.” Honestly, this was the most exciting part of her night, being able to use her abilities to help others and beat up some bad dudes at the same time. It was incredibly rewarding, and the attention she received afterwards wasn’t half bad either.

The magician clad in red leather flew towards the scene of the crime, not sure whether any of her fellow heroes would be joining her as back up or not. She could handle this on her own even if they didn’t show. She landed on the corner of a roof, pulling out her bow and an arrow from the quiver on her back, drawing it back as she aimed it at her oncoming target.

“I’d suggest you stop what you’re doing and stay where you are, unless you’d like to see this arrow sticking out of your eye socket,” she called down. “Trust me, I have some perfect aim.”

The thing about being a hero was that Andrew hadn’t really expected his life would go this way. He expected law school and he expected life being hard because of his power, but the whole vigilante business came a tag unexpected. Not that he didn’t like it though, he wouldn’t be doing it if he didn’t like it. It was just... Unexpected. Though everything about him was unexpected he guessed. He was waiting in a nearby alleyway, listening to the overhead radio for anything from Glitch or Enchantress or any of the other heroes but so far... Silence.

Andrew did feel useless some days because of that, but he knew that in the grand scheme of things, it’d be alright but he still felt a little off about it all. When he finally heard something over the radio, he was racing over, of course he didn’t get there before Jaden, but that was okay with him. He had a love construct of a knife up and he was grinning up at his friend briefly. “I’d listen to her,” he warned with a laugh. “She’s really not kind with where her arrow lands.” The culprit started to run and Andrew just rolled his eyes, muttering to himself what a bad idea that was before throwing his knife into their ankle. “Why’re they always so dumb J-- Enchantress?”

Patience Is Key (AU) ;; Beckett & Andrew

There was something about waiting that made Andrew extremely anxious, he wasn’t sure if it was the ‘uncontrollable’ part of his aura that drew people to him or the worry that one of his friends had gotten hurt. Especially when he was pretty sure his headset wasn’t working and so he had very little way of contacting everyone. Finally, he heard about a robbery at a street corner nearby and he was on his way, “guys, I might need back up so if someone could please, please come have my back and make sure no one dies, I’d really appreciate it.” Once Andrew arrived at the corner, already with a love construct of a throwing knife formed, chucking it with insane accuracy and managing to pin one of the culprits sleeves to the store front. “Yeah, guys! I really need back up!”

Andrew was sitting in the alleyway, waiting for someone in the hero squad to show up. Or just someone to show up that he could fuck up. No one was on the radio and no one was around and it was causing Andrew to go up the wall. But finally, he heard Ava and he found himself bouncing around the alley, “Ava, Ava, where are you is there anyone I can come help you beat up? Please tell me there’s something to do tonight, Monday night’s are so boring.”

AU History Alteration: Andrew Morin loved his city from the moment he was able to form his own coherent thoughts. And when C.A.R.M.A. came in they posed a threat to the safety of meta-humans in his city. He had heard about the heroes through the Pansaw Journal and he went out of his way to be around crime from the moment he heard about them. Beckett shrugged. Sadly, after a ray of inspirational badassery, he failed to deliver the answers that Drew was looking for. Hearing him talk about sex seemed unnatural somehow. Drew had always been the romantic in his mind, the eternal virgin cause he was too much into holding hands. He let Andrew ramble on, it seemed like he needed to. “Whenever that happens, you call me. And I’ll break up for you, just like I did in freshman year. But power or no power, I think love is always a risk. Unlike me, you’re much better at feeling the feelings, so you should enjoy it.”

Andrew finished his little rant and he couldn’t help but laugh at himself, “when did I get such a massive stick up my ass?” He asked Beck with an amused grin on his face. “Can we go out tonight? Or something? I think I need to relax... No, I know I do.” He leaned back in his chair and rubbed his face slowly, realizing that his social life was so lackluster that he was panicking about potentially falling in love with a one night stand. What idiot did that but Andrew? “I’m sorry I’m such a mess, man. But I can help you if you ever find someone you wanna be with, you know I’m here for you no matter what.”

It wasn’t uncommon for Lee to stay up late, finishing her homework for class the next day. Most nights, she found herself awake past midnight. Each time, she told herself she’d go to bed earlier, but time always seemed to slip away from her. Once the twins had fallen asleep, Lee moved into the lounge where she wouldn’t wake them up, only to find another rebel snoring on top of his books. She shook him awake, receiving an orb lobbed at her head in return. “I will, as long as you promise not to snore again. You sure you don’t want to sleep in your own room?”

“Oh, fuck,” Andrew laughed softly and pulled himself back onto the couch, looking at his legal brief for a moment and all the corrections and notes he had already made about what needed to be fixed. He really should’ve stopped but he had a full day of school, Rebel work, and bar work tomorrow. It’d be hard to find time to do his edits then... “I’ll be fine. Sorry about the... Pink, Lee. I didn’t mean too, I just get easily startled, y’know?” He asked with a crooked smile before tidying up his papers so he could find the green and blue highlighters he had been using to mark places where he liked what he wrote and places where he didn’t like what he wrote. “What’re you working on?”

Beckett felt for the guy and he wanted to help him in any way he could, but he also knew meddling too much would probably do more harm than good. Andrew had to live his life, Beckett couldn’t do it for him, even if he wanted to. Who’s to say that Beck made the right choices for him after all. His answer was a honest but painful one. “Alright. If that’s what you really want, then alright.” He smiled.

“I--” Andrew was about to defend himself and say that yes, he did live life but he knew that was a blatant lie. He didn’t live life at all. He was just kind of wading in the shallow end of the water and waiting for something to happen while everything exciting and kind of dangerous happened out in the deep end. “Who would I even date?” He asked finally, feeling himself finally taking steps closer to maybe having a little fun.

“I can do the whole casual sex thing but I’m too romantic to leave it just at a one night stand, and that’s something we can’t help. I don’t want to just have sex with someone and then have it turn into a relationship cause I was too like... Charming and nice to say no. Cause that’s happened before. Remember when I called you my freshman year in New York, panicking because I had gotten into a relationship with someone I didn’t like cause I didn’t keep my shit together and they fell so hard and fast? And it’s not everyday you find a meta resistant to empaths...”

Andrew was asleep on a couch in the Rebel Lounge, passed out on top of a legal briefing he had been drafting for class. He was trying to be a good law student, a good Rebel, a good person... But he wasn’t allowing himself any rest. Which was why he wasn’t even passed out in his room, he was just on top of his homework in the lounge. He had been there only god knows how long and inevitably passed out. When Andrew felt someone rocking his body though to wake him up, he fell off the couch and out of defense (and a sleepy haze) he threw a glowing pink glob at the person, “leave me alone!”

“Well, you’ve got me there, friend. But my skin wants to be burned when I get overexposed to your cheesiness.” Beckett chuckled and nudged him. “That’s not what I asked. Surely, there must be someone in your mind, or bed, at least. We really need to get you the control over your power, because I’m actually starting to worry for you.”

“Okay, okay, fair enough,” Andrew laughed and nudged him with his arm playfully. “Okay, fine. I mean-- there isn’t really anyone. I’ve just been focusing on school... And you know I have control, Becks. I’ve had such great control I just-- I worry. I don’t want someone to be with me cause I slip up and they only like being around me when I slip up. But I don’t need a relationship or sex or anything right now. I’m fine. I promise...”

What a stroke of luck…and not even at his own hand! Something must be smiling down on their little union. He gave the other a smile and downed his drink, giving his attention back to Andrew. “Let’s start with one,” He said, flirtily watching him lose a layer. Jim moved with Andrew and waited outside the staff room, being considerate. The other’s special charms, and face, warranted the manners and he gave the bartender back his smile when he reappeared. With a backpack. He remembered the days of carrying one of those….years ago…

“I’m perfectly happy deferring to your better knowledge.” Jim replied, smiling at Andrew and gesturing for the man to take the lead.

There was honestly a little hesitation in how Andrew stood and carried himself when it came to Jim. He wasn’t exactly sure this was his best idea, agreeing to all of this. He knew that he could very well end up dead by the end of the night considering the feeling he got from being near Jim wasn’t the most pleasant. They walked out of the club and Andrew took a left, heading away from the building. “So... I gotta ask, why’re you so interested in me? I don’t mean to be rude but it’s a little off-putting.”

Oh Jim liked that candor. He stood taller, chuckling and nodding. “I absolutely agree love. Happiness is what you make of it.” He lifted his glass in toast to that, taking a sip, eyes always on Andrew. Jim appreciated blunt honesty like that and set the glass down with a soft sigh. His little nudge must have been too subtle but that was okay, he nodded, smiling of course. Andrew was like a puppy but Jim detected a hidden set of potent claws. The best combination!

“It’s been such a long time since I indulged in a milkshake, how about it then. You, me, some tasty milk and more conversation?” It was a negligible price to pay to learn more about another with such similarities, to branch out.

Andrew was honestly about to protest, saying he had more of his shift left to work when one of his coworkers swung by and gave him a quick hug and told him to clock out. He nodded with a small sigh, knowing it was probably for the best considering he had been there since the evening had started. “Alright. One milkshake,” he nodded with a small smile. He pulled off his apron, clocked out, and grabbed his backpack before coming out from behind the bar. “You said it’s been a while since you’ve gotten a milkshake so I figure you don’t know where the best ones in the city are?”

Jim hummed as he took a drink, licking his lips slowly, eyes staring focused on Andrew., glad he wasn’t affected by his influence. He imagined he would be smiling, acting like a smitten wreck. It was impressive, and Jim leaned onto the bar, nodding. “Well you do seem very popular, your reputation even goes our far beyond this place.” He smiled, the kind that emphasised his features and took years off his face. “It’s not every day anyone finds a place they actually enjoy working in. Work is work a reason,” He chuckled, knowing Andrew wouldn’t be swayed without specific nudges. But he was curious about the boy now - his power would be mightily useful but he seemed to want nothing. Seemed. Everyone wanted something.

“So you’re going to become a top lawyer, winning cases and disarming judges with that painfully beautiful smile eh?” His skills would be impressive in such a public forum, Jim had to give him a mental applause. “Apart from doing well, there must be something you want, come on, everyone wants something. Promise it’ll just be our little secret,” Jim murmured, smiling wider, charming and handsome, giving the boy just a nudge enough that he may get an answer. Just subtle enough that it wouldn’t be noticeable.

“Oh, does it now?” Andrew asked curiously, looking over at the man for a moment, wondering if he was lying to regain Andrew’s full attention, or if he was telling the truth. “I mean-- it’s good for where I am at this point in my life. Law student in need of a little extra money, I wouldn’t want to find myself still bar tending once I have my degree though.” He rolled his eyes at the words. Work is work for a reason. That was just bullshit sad people told themselves when they weren’t happy with what they did. “When people say that it’s just because they’re making up excuses for them studying the wrong thing or being afraid to admit they made the wrong decision.”

“That’s the goal at least,” he said with a small shrug. “Though I do hope that my actual merit will win me cases and not just my pretty face.” He had been wiping down the counter from all the different mixes of alcohol and syrups when Jim asked the question. Was there actually anything that Andrew desperately wanted? Not... Really... He was happy. He would like C.A.R.M.A. to handle problems the way they do, but that’s why he was a Rebel. He shifted his weight to his other foot before shrugging. “Not really honestly. I mean I could go for a milkshake right about now but other than that I don’t really… Want anything…”

“Don’t lie to me, Becks,” Andrew grinned, “you love when I get all cheesy like this. You can’t say that there’s anyone else in your life who’s as cheesy as I am.” He felt his cheeks flush a bit as Beckett asked about his love life and he just shrugged his shoulders in a noncommittal response. “You know me, I don’t really... Look for relationships. Never know if the feelings are genuine or not.”

That was thrice dear Andrew had mentioned being fire, and wanting the opposite. Jim hummed, not offended at being batted away or…well saying put in his place would be a frightful exaggeration. Andrew seemed caught between a rock and a hard place, caught between personal and professional. “Then I shall keep myself here,” Jim started, putting his hands on his side of the bar, “And you keep your lovely self there,” He pointed to Andrew and where he was standing, “And we simply talk under the guide of you servicing me. Let’s…start with something stiff, a double bourbon on the rocks.” He smiled, adding teeth. Andrew was adorable but now to have a peek at the wizard behind the curtain.

While watching Andrew begin to take his order, Jim hummed, leaning onto the bar, not technically over it. “So, lovely Andrew, tell me about this place and why it holds such a special place in your heart? And lets skip your present rapport with the customers,” He said, smiling wide and toothy again with his joke, alluding bluntly to Andrew’s specific way with people. It reminded him of Scarlett’s unique charms, just with less erections.

“And then lets move onto what you desire, since you’re giving me what I want I’m curious to know what you want.” And how they can align with what Jim wanted.

Andrew nodded firmly and started pouring the mans requested drink. Honestly, part of his mentioning him being fired was out of his own comfort. He was usually chill being behind the bar and having people be a little bit too flirty but the vibe that Andrew got from Jim was not the most pure of heart. There was some ulterior motive that he had, it was only a matter of time before Andrew figured it out. He placed the man’s drink down on the counter, wondering why Jim was so keen on talking to him. But he had already made enough of a fuss.

“Well,” he started off, trying to think about why the club had become special to him. “There’s a lot of reasons I guess. I mean-- I get paid well working here, I have some great friends here...” He shrugged and started wiping down the counter, cleaning off some of the booze that people had spilled out of their cups. He looked up at the man sitting across the bar, his eyes wide with curiosity and mild discomfort. “What I desire?” He said, confusion obvious in his voice. “I don’t really... Desire anything? I mean-- I’d like to get through law school, but that comes with actually doing well in my classes. And I wouldn’t qualify that as a desire. I’m honestly rather satisfied with how my life has gone and how it is going.”

“I know, I know.” Beckett grinned slightly. It was something he admired about his friend. With his power, it was more than easy to fall into the deep pit of lust and power. There was very little he couldn’t accomplish with his ability and Beckett wasn’t quite sure if he’d have the same resistance to the power as Andrew had. “Oh, certainly.” Beckett nodded without a second thought. “Well, I doubt that’s going to happen, but I’m sure you’d still make it in life. Ability or no ability.”

“I’m glad you would,” Andrew said with a soft chuckle, slinging his backpack onto his shoulder once more. He didn’t want their interaction to end there though, he always enjoyed being around Beckett. He was Andrew’s best friend and he was almost a balance to how sugary and sweet he could be. “And alright, thanks, man. Do you wanna go grab lunch though? I feel like I kind of owe you for the spilled coffee... And I’m never going to pass up the opportunity to hang out with my best friend.”
