One of my favourite things in a Taylor Swift song is when the story puts Taylor in a lesser position to those around her, but near the end of the song she remembers that she’s worth more than the bad circumstances or people around her. “You wish it was me, don’t you?” in Speak Now, “YOU should have known,” in Dear John, “Back before you lost the one real thing you’ve ever known” in All Too Well. I like that she ultimately never loses the sense of her own self worth. That’s a valuable trait to have.
