The factories and assembly lines were not the only things built on distant moons. Many of these lunar colonies had started as tourist destinations. Places for intergalactic pleasure trips. What started as private charters and short walks across untread soil grew into terraformed biomes and amusement parks. Eventually hotels and bunk houses were joined by apartments and luxury mansions. The wonders of these moons brought tourism and exploration. Then discoveries yielded even more profit and soon intrests turned to extraction and refinement. Mining camps replaced bunk houses and amusments became production lines.

Then, one day it all went silent.

Until today.

It started with doors opening, objects falling, doors slamming. What made the long forgotten sideshow attraction come out of sleep mode was the singing.

Someone, after over a hundred years of silence was singing.

Optics opened only to engage in an automatic recalibration. Once completed, creaking joints bent and an animatronic stood on unsteady and damaged legs.

Then, ears swiveling, they began to follow it.

The voice was distant, echoed through hallways, ducts and vents. Like siren it pulled them forward as systems were dusted off and protocols engaged. The room they were in was empty. Find the guests. Now as shakey steps steadied the animatronic knew this was not a guest in need of entertaining. Still, the desire to find them was strong. Their pace quickened.

A part of them considered tunring back. Should they tell the others.

Were there others?

Moon...Moon was...

No, that had been before.

They shook their head. A garbled sound tumbled from their ancient voicebox. The listened for the voice, joining in on a few scraps of the melody.

It wasn't a song they knew.

They kept running.

Sometimes the voice got louder, then quieter. A few times it stopped entirely.

Floor after floor and then suddenly, they were outside.

The fire exit door swung shut.

Everything was too bright.

Optics struggled to recalibrate, the sensation similar to a direct hit from a fazerblaster. In a panic they uncovered their right one.

That helped.

Vision sharpening, they found themselves on a rusted fire escape. Down an alley of grey concrete and brittle foliage and a wall giving way to a barren land of rock and sand.

"This is new." Their disused voice box glitched with static.

The song was no more. Instead there was shouting.

The animatronic watched a figure in an orange suit sprint towards the edge.

From their widow's walk, they watched the figure drop to their knees as a small ship dissapeared into the thin atmosphere above.

Their ears twitched and they raised their raised a hooked hand to wave the vessle off in a sign of good will and a wish for a safe voyage.

Their gaze turned back to the castaway below who was still staring silently at the sky.

He didn't trust her, not for one second. Sure the face was familiar. His systems even still identified her as a friend, a band mate...

As Fazbear property.

He growled, shaking that text box off his optic screens as fast as he could manage. The damage from the raid was still mostly untouched. He'd managed to pilfer a few things to patch himself up between pretending to work here and hiding from the security.

That cushy life was over now. Still, old habits died hard.

"You didn't see anything." He drew himself up in a way he knew frightened most.

"I see everything." She countered, "But I don't like tattletales." She held out a hand that was in much better shape than his own. He leaned away, expression twisting into something wary.

"You playing tricks?"

"Do I look like a Bonnie model?"

That got a laugh out of him, though mostly from sheer surprise. It had been a long time since anyone else had known anything about where he was from.

About who he was.

He rolled his shoulders back, ignoring how the joints protested.

" Naw, but if you've spent anytime around this port sector, you should know why-"

"No tricks." She interjected, "Just take my hand. I can get you somewhere less dirty at least. This place is a mess." Her nose wrinkled in disgust.

He shrugged,

"Better than the last place." He mumbled.

"I believe that...Only losers settle." She tossed her hair.

His already poor mood soured.

"I ain't no loser."

She grinned.

"Exactly. Now come on." She turned to leave.

She got halfway across the room before he decided to humour her. Her models were strong, agile, for their size, even. But he knew what could bring a wolf down.

"You still go by Roxanne?" He asked his heavy footfalls joining hers.

That earned him a glance over her shoulder. He flexed his claws, habitually.

"Roxy. You?"

A rare sense of relief washed over him. No one asked.

"Monty's fine." Saying it out loud again felt surreal.

His voice came out quieter than he meant it to. To her credit, Roxy didn't make any comment. The wolf simply nodded and turned back towards the exit.

They left the service pit together in silence.

Took a shot at drawing the boys as mermaids! This was fun to do and since now its may, I can share this! This was also done with designing how i vision them for an au I had for a long time now.

The gist of the au is basically Y/N being born and raised in an aquarium for their whole life! Them becoming perfectly comfortable and content with what they have, but do sometimes wonder what the ocean is like—since that's their true home!

Sun and Moon are mers that are captured and brought to the facility/aquarium that y/n resides in. Which they aren't too happy with, since they despise humans. While y/n is promised with new roommates, which are mers just like them!

Y/n, Sun and Moon have a rough start since Y/n favors humans and is for better word, a shameful representation of merpeople in Sun and Moon eyes. But don't worry, overtime, they learn to get along and appreciate one another! In the end, who knows if they manage to convince Y/n to escape with them back home!

I love the texture, it’s really smooth and reminds me of chalk! I am melting over their flower crown, they deserve to pick all the flowers to their little (non-existent) heart’s desire! I also love the little white and yellow flowers with the long purple blooms, so pretty ♥

Tomorrow I will have been in fandom for thirty years.

I can mark the anniversary very precisely because I know the name of the first fanfic I ever read, which is fortunately archived online along with the date it was posted, the same day I read it. I don't believe Usenet exists anymore and I've been here too long to believe that nothing ever disappears off the internet, so I know that archives are truly a gift to history.

I posted my first fanfic not that long after. It wasn't well-written but reading it today I can see that the narrative was sound. People said they liked it, which was kind given how extremely bad my grammar was. I was an awkward teenager with undiagnosed ADHD and praise was rare for me, but when I wrote fanfic someone always said something kind about it. Eventually a few of them took me under their wing and explained things like "where quotation marks go" and "paragraph breaks". Commas, I fear, are a lost cause even today, but they tried, bless them.

I thought about doing something big to commemorate the anniversary, but I couldn't really think what I might do and the world right now is pretty exhausting. I'm forty five and I'm tired. But imagine how much more exhausting the world would be without fandom -- how much emptier my life would be without my friends, this community, the writing I do, the art and beauty fandom exposes me to. So for now I'm just meditating on that a bit -- the richness of the experience, the gifts I've been fortunate to receive, the lessons I've been fortunate (if sometimes reluctant) to learn.

In another thirty years I'll be seventy five, if I live so long. Thirty years ago we didn't in any meaningful sense have digital cameras, let alone cellphones or smartphones, social media, streaming television, GPS. I did a report on the science of cloning for my high school biology class (on the suggestion of a fellow fan) a year before Dolly was cloned. I wrote my first fanfic using a computer running Windows version 3.1. I wrote it in Notepad, still a constant companion.

I hope I live to seventy five. As tired as I am, I'm looking forward to seeing where the next thirty years will take us.

I hope Notepad will still be there.

Eclipse from my Cirque des Célestes AU, inspired by his introduction scene in chapter 1 (which I’m still slaving away at) I was gonna include this as actual chapter art but the background setting ended up being different and I didn’t include his staff here so hm. I finished this pic like 2 weeks ago but I’ve only gotten around to writing the scene today and with it no longer quite matching up I figured I should just go ahead and share this pic separately. Really happy with how it turned out.
