AC UNITY: headcannon...I think. trigger warnings and spoilers ahead just to be safe

Alright so I kind of see a lot of people wondering on what happened to Arno after the events of the game and how exactly he was able to move on from Elise and rejoin the brotherhood.

Honestly in my opinion I don’t believe that Arno really got past her death and was able to marry someone else in the future. Sure he rejoined the brotherhood and became a master assassin but to find someone else? I don’t think that happened.

Now obviously Arno must have had children for his descendants to possess any scrap of his genetic code and here’s where my sort of theory comes in. Now obviously after Elises death Arno went into a very deep depression and drowned his sorrows in alcohol but what a lot of people seem to forget is that there are other crutches that people lean on when they feel like they’ve hit rock bottom, the biggest one being sex. Because of Arnos cynical behaviour in the DK DLC it’s honestly not that far fetched of an idea for Arno to try and also drown his sorrows in women. Chances are that he could’ve ended up with an illegitimate child or children without knowing of their existence, after all the women he would be with were nothing more than casual flings to try and soothe the ache of his deceased love. I won’t lie this idea is really sad and depressing but I feel it’s one of the most accurate for Arnos character. It could explain how he was able to pass on his DNA without being married since the thought of him finding someone who made him feel the way Elise did just seemed so unlikely.
