I'm not sure if anybody's posted about this before. Tell me if this is well-treaded territory. I was reading through the original LB screenplay (not shooting script, maybe first draft) and found out - to my surprise - David's death was completely different.

Like, character-defining different.

I've sourced this iteration from multiple places, all of which I've used before to find accurate screenplays. Not like I've got the writers on speed-dial, but I trust that this was - at some point - an intended story beat. So interesting considering the musical circles back to this, regranting Star agency in the final battle! Down to the specific back-and-forth of David taunting her, Star relenting.

I'd love to hear David Hornsby/Chris Hoch discuss this change, if it was directly inspired by the original script.
