Just imagine him doing anything he can to keep his beloved away from karma or any impurities even if they're not an ordinary human. Well, for him they'd never be just ordinary but you know what I mean.

He'd be choosing longer paths to their destination when walking together, just to be sure to avoid places that could be potentially dangerous, asking any adeptus with spare time to keep an eye on them when they travel alone, just in case.

 If something happens to them, he'd be the first to examine them or make sure doctor Baizhu checks on their condition, even if it'd be just a harmless wound or one too many coughs.

He won't loose them, not after watching so many lives end. But he also doesn't really want them to see him as obsessive, although they're might be his small obsession. After living for millenia, moments when they talk about something they're passionate about, or just simply enjoying the quiet in their presence, bring him more joy than he would've imagined.

Kinda feel like his love would be careful, protective, maybe even a little scary (for him that is). He already lost so much, what if he looses his whole world, his beloved, this time? He'd rather die than let anything happen to them, if just one single hair fell from their head, he'd be ready to burn down counties just to keep his loved one safe. Forever. He doesn't demand they stay by his side, no. He would let them drift far, far away from him, if it means they'll be happy. After all, it's not only the world he wants to protect them form, he knows better than anyone just how much harm he can bring to those he cares about. Knowing that, he tried, really tried to push them away but over time, he's selfishly grown accustomed to their presence, to constantly saving them from even the slightest trouble. And so, he doesn't demand, but he craves their presence. He keeps his language, tone, temper in check whenever his oh-so sweet beloved is involved. Wouldn't want to scare them off, now would he? He'd be as good, as polite, as kind as possible if it means they's stay by his side for the next eternity.
