Mohsen Shekari, 23, worked in a cafe and he loved pc games; his goal after his release from prison was to sell his pc and collect enough money to buy a ps5…
He made a deal with a friend to help him become a youtuber after his freedom.
There was life flowing through Mohsen’s veins. He was waiting for his freedom from prison.
One time when he came back from an interrogation, he was elated, “They told me that if that basiji (kinda someone from the police force) give up his claim, we will remove the “Moharebeh” sentence and give you 10 years in prison. The basiji is going to give up his claim!”
He got executed on Dec 8, 2022.
Before continuing, let me explain to you what exactly “Moharebeh” sentence is. It means using a cold or warm weapon on someone to kill, rob or scare them. Self-defense doesn’t count as Moharebeh…on paper. The punishment for Moharebeh is death. I’ll explain the situation of Mohsen’s arrest in a bit.
In a sham trial without due process, deprived of the right to appoint his attorney, Mohsen Shekari was charged with “street obstruction.” While his family were still hoping for an appeal and had no news from the case, the Islamic Republic unexpectedly executed him.
You’re probably wondering, “street obstruction? But wasn’t Moharebeh about using weapons on someone?” You are correct.
Mohsen Shekari was one of the protesters. He got arrested on September 25. He was blocking the street using a trash can. A basiji tried to attack him but he defended himself. Mohsen himself claimed that the basiji would definitely give up his claim. He didn’t even get stitches!
But they executed him. Without warning. He didn’t even know himself.
These are the words of one of his prison mates (?) who got released from prison:
“Mohsen Shekari got executed today. My brain is about to explode. I was in the same unit as Mohsen for about 20 days of my arrest period in the Great Prison of Tehran, Evin. Mohsen worked in a cafe. He raved about his love for games till morning. He told me about the stories of God of War. He told me of his loneliness. If sometimes he managed to get food, he would call me over so that we could share.
He complimented me a lot. He called me stylish.
I wish that you hadn’t complimented me before. I wish that you hadn’t put your sleeping place right next to mine on our last nights. I wish that you wouldn’t have given us a sip of your cola whenever you got back from interrogations. I wish that you hadn’t told me so passionately about the kinds of coffee and how to prepare them.
I wish that this morning when I prepared a cup of coffee for myself, you were alive.
I wish I hadn’t seen the news. I wish I wasn’t feeling this awful.
I wish I didn’t hate myself as much as I do now.
I wish I didn’t hate myself as much as I do now. (Yes he repeated it twice)
I wish…”
When he got the sentence, he truly did not believe that it was real. He said, “They’re just trying to scare me with a death sentence.” He didn’t know how cruel and disgusting and corrupt the Islamic Republic is.
You know what’s the more infuriating part? Not only did they not let him see his family in his very last moments (his family didn’t even know they were bringing him in to execute him!!), they even refused to give his body to the family for a whole day!! His body was in the morgue for a whole day!!
Finally, on Dec 9 2022, they let the family have his body so that they can bury him. But on a condition. The family is not allowed to let anyone on social media (or anywhere else) know about the where or when of his burial ceremony. They even monitored who was allowed to take part in the ceremony. Only a few close family members.
This is how the terrorist regime of the Mullahs plans to do away with our uprising: killing us quickly and quietly. (There is actually another reason but that requires its own post and really it’s not that important for the international world to know so I’m just gonna leave it there. To put it shortly, the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic is being a sore loser, trying to give the message to people that he has the upper hand when he very clearly is shitting himself)
If you’re thinking “how can I help?”
Really, just keep talking about Iran. You talking about it will put pressure on your governments to take more of a serious action (instead of just saying “the Islamic Republic has to answer for their cruel actions” or “we stand with the people of Iran”)
