This has no right being this fucking funny
[Video Description: A clip from Spongebob Squarepants. Spongebob, Gary the Snail, and Plankton stand on a sidewalk along with a barrel with a hose coming from it. Spongebob cheerfully pats Gary's eyestalks and says, "Okay, Gary, you can go home. Gary meows flatly then slithers out of frame. While Spongebob looks on with a smile and Plankton with consternation, there is the sound of a car door opening and closing, then the car revving up and peeling away. Their eyes follow the car. Plankton asks, "Was that his car?" Smile unfaltering, Spongebob answers, "No." End Description
“In Europe they–”
WHERE in Europe??!? WHERE??? You mean Iceland?? Azerbaijan? The Netherlands? Liechtenstein???? THERE ARE 50 COUNTRIES IN EUROPE. ALL WITH DIFFERENT CULTURES. SO PRAY TELL ME, WHERE IN FUCKING EUROPE.
in europe they got antisemitism
Thinking about how Legend and Hyrule ask "How old is four?" And the unknown hangs in silence over them for a moment as they realize they don't have an answer for that question.
Thinking about an early LU post where JoJo put Four and Wind in the young teens category together.
Thinking about how insanely emotionally mature Four is, his discussions with Twilight about unity, the way he has picked himself up and pieced himself together after being shattered twice.
Thinking about how large his presence is, how strong and grounded it is, how he doesn't hesitate, doesn't question himself unless he thinks hes doing more harm than good
Thinking about the outright passion he has for his distate in dark magic, how he started a whole argument with Wind AFTER his fight with Wild. How it couldn't just be Vaati, whose intentions were clear when he played in the arts, but that he'd doubt Twilight at all unless he knew something deeper.
Thinking about his concern about the master sword. He asked "it might change me?" When that hadn't been mentioned. The conversation before had said it judges, not changes.
Thinking about his own regard for the four sword. He respects the blade, he refuses to let anyone else handle it. He knows the damage it can make, he's had to fix it all before.
Thinking about FSA supposedly being set after twilight princess.
Thinking the four sword changed him, stole him away, took him for 400 years until a Shadow of what he once was set off the newest plot. He had placed it back in the temple, but never got to pull his hand away. Thinking Dot stored herself away to wait for him, to fix it with him.
Thinking about him stumbling out of the sword, into a temple that had no walls left standing and a world he would never be able to recognize. Thinking Time or Twilight set it off, the chance for him to escape. When a young legend came across the sword, it had been far longer, no shadow had appeared, so the hero fell to shadows himself, lost the wait another version of him won.
Thinking about FSA and how each part of him had to learn to hold the sword that had let this happen, the same sword they had forged themselves. They had spent 400 years floating, thinking, figuring out every part of themselves. Merging back this time made one whole person. He knew more about every part of the swords capabilities by then, how to make it a useful tool, (and only think of it as such, it may have been all that was left of his body, but he could breathe again, move and talk and fight.)
Thinking about Four and Dot searching for anything that could take them home. A harp perhaps, one that travelled exactly 400 years, one that could be purposefully left behind in a safe hiding place so they didn't leave anything else to ruin.
Thinking about Four going back to the forge, giving up being a knight, just wanting to spend his time with his grandfather again.
Thinking about the chain coming together, of Time mentioning he'd heard of Fours stories, Four letting him place the timelines together so that it made sense to everyone that he looked like a kid, not like someone that had lived for 415 years (if you could even call that living). He didn't mention he had heard of time and twilight. It wouldn't end well.
Thinking about Legends mirror, figuring out twilights secret. Would he be curious, would he look to see if anyone else was hiding something? Would he turn the reflective surface to the smithy and find nothing to see but his sword? Would Legend think that Four was an imposter, an illusion, rather than the manifestation Four had painstakingly made to make himself feel real again? Or time with his lens of truth, looking for something else entirely and finding out exactly what his tool boasts.
Thinking about how Four avoids touch because he can't feel it at all.
In case you writers ever wondered. Made by Carrie Patrick on Facebook.
The object comparisons are things of an equivalent weight, not things you can cut with the swords. Just saying so to preemptively stop cursed comments.
Like a claymore it takes two hands to properly wield a baby
the reason Tolkien pulls off “magic is leaving the world” without it being depressing or disappointing is that the whole story is about how this loss is sad, yes, but also right for the time, and moreover that the magic—the elves, the dragons, the dark lords with magic rings and returned kings with legendary swords—were never the important thing. “Returned king with legendary sword” is literally a ploy the heroes use to hide the real hero, Frodo Baggins of the Shire. The end of the story isn’t the ship leaving for the West, it’s Sam coming home to Bag End. The wonderful thing in Middle Earth isn’t what is lost, it’s what remains, what is saved.

Please return us to a world where Notp and squick are used for a ship you don’t like instead of just making up a load of bullshit about how immoral it is or w/e lol
a short selection of concepts and phrases that used to be commonplace in fandom and we’d really benefit from making that a thing again:
NOTP: the opposite of an OTP (One True Pairing). It is a ship a fan strongly dislikes. The word is a portmanteau of ‘no’ and ‘OTP’ and thus is not a contraction of any particular phrase.
Squick: anything that is a deep-seated, visceral turn-off. Squicks may be shared by many fans or be specific to one; one person’s kink may be another person’s squick.
YKINMKATO, or kink-tomato: Your Kink Is Not My Kink, And That’s Okay: used to indicate support for fannish diversity and to distinguish between disapproval or kink shaming and simply having different taste.
DLDR: Don’t Like, Don’t Read: a phrase used to warn against complaints about an aspect of fic or meta. A “live and let live” philosophy of fandom, which places the responsability for avoiding content one doesn’t want to see on the side of the fanwork consumer, rather that on the creator’s.
SALS: Ship And Let Ship: similar to the above specifically about shipping tastes.
YMMV: Your Mileage May Vary: a phrase used to acknowledge that any given individual’s personal opinion on the topic at hand may differ due to their own tastes, standards, values, experiences, etc.
As the OP points out, all of these crucially imply no moral judgment of what they’re designing.
(definitions lifted more or less wholesale from fanlore’s relevant pages)
bring the healthy fun back to fandom!
Typical Disney-style story of a kingdom with an anxious new ruler whose inherited chief advisor has a goatee, dresses in black and red, smirks a lot and keeps a snake as a pet.
Every single villanous plot to overthrow the kind and ”weak” ruler fail because the advisor is 110% loyal but his vibes make all the baddies assume he’ll help out in the insidious coup plan so they recruit him, and he absolutely delights in puppeteering wannabe autocrats into digging their own graves. He doesn’t want to rule, he’s having way too much fun being a villain honey trap.
Add-on to this idea: the ruler and the advisor have some elaborate code speak based on like gardening or knitting or something (because chess would be too obvious) to secretly keep each other up to date on ongoing plots. When the advisor slips up at one point, and is kidnapped and replaced with an impostor, this is what alarms the ruler to that the rescue ninja need to be sent out.

Earlier this year, I did a Gravity Falls rewatch and got hella inspired. Read from RIGHT TO LEFT
BOTW's story works a lot better than TOTK's story because of the difference in their driving questions.
For BOTW, the main question you ask from the start is "Who am I?" and also "What happened to Hyrule?" You learn the answers to these questions over time as you journey across the land and remember things about your past. The answer to "who am I" is "I am the chosen hero," and the answer to "what happened" is "We failed to save everyone." When you learn that, the goal changes from "go and do the quests because the old lady said to" to "Do what you couldn't do back then and save everyone."
In TOTK, the question is "Where the heck is Zelda?" and it's not your question, it's everyone else's. All the NPCs want to know where she is and you're just kind of standing there while everyone discusses it. And then the game throws you an early game side quest where they tell you exactly what happened to Zelda, and then you just have to putter around for 99 years and watch everyone run blindly towards Fake Zelda while you just follow them without saying anything until the final hour.
And then they force you to listen to the exact same spiel about the Imprisoning War, 4 separate times, without changing a single word. Whereas in BOTW, you get to learn about the Champions and who they were and their relationship to you, and explain the Calamity to you in one cutscene.
Plus, they don't expand on anything from BOTW in TOTK. Link and Zelda are just living perfectly fine in society despite having basically been dead for a century. And instead of expanding on the Sheika mythos, they just try and pretend they never existed and put the Zonai in their place as the Ancient Precursor Race with all the Ancient Technology That's Been Lost To Time.
So yeah, I'm a little bit disappointed in the story of TOTK. BOTW had an interesting narrative that meshed well with the open world format and was executed perfectly. TOTK just had an excuse plot with no substance.
I feel like simply calling JK Rowling a transphobe isn't strong enough anymore. Like. This is not your grandpa calling you by your deadname at a restaurant kind of transphobic. This is her wanting to eradicate all trans people (with an extra special hatred towards trans women specifically). This is her trying just that by personally funding transphobic hate groups with millions to push around laws in the UK. It is not hyperbolic to call her a dangerous, genocidal maniac.
It's not about cancelling a problematic writer. It's about literally trying to save lives by denying her as much money and power as possible.
