Like, I have to say Iāve sorry for ever doubting Mack. I mean HOLY SHIT. I know that a lot of my followers arenāt super into Sims news and follow me because Iām pretty much like just for lighter fan content but my understanding of the situation-
Creators were making a DOCTORāS SALARY off of selling video game clothing/furniture. They werenāt supposed to do this but eventually EA decided not to follow their OWN terms of service and just let them break rules.
People started pirating and the patreon sellers, rather than being fine with the THOUSANDS they were still making decided to start a doxxing ring. THEN it came out that most of them werenāt even really involved in the community and this was just a money making scheme where theyād illegally take meshes from OTHER places, convert them, and sell them.
They called a personās work to get the fired, started calling people who called them out āpoorā, and generally harassed people. Thatās not even to mention the general racism and homophobia they spewed
When the finally got caught they apparently tried to claim that is was āanti-asianā racism and everyone who called them out was a racist.
This could have been avoided if EA actually ENFORCED their goddamn TOS. Or hired a social media team that wasnāt WOEFULLY inept.
Honestly, I think we need to go after The Sims and Patreon on twitter and social media for this. Patreon for not doing anything earlier and The Sims for not speaking up about it. These pathetic little āoh, we donāt agree with thisā is doing nothing. They wonāt stop it, obviously. But at LEAST grow a backbone, christ.
And the thing that irritates me the most is I know on some level the ONLY reason that EA says that itās not okay is legal, at least recently. The man who started patreon literally WORKED for Maxis ON TS2. If I had to take a wild guess, he probably got the idea back when people were trying to sell CC on personal sites.
And donāt even get me started on the statement that Will Wright made on his latest NFT āgameā. He literally was like āOh we had a problem with people pirating contentā.
It also pisses me off because back when the people who made the sex mod had someone create unofficial addons for it that allowed for PEDOPHILIA and bestiality, the one thing that EA COULD have done was enforced their policy. That shit would have NEVER gotten made otherwise.
Honestly, Iām so fucking disgusted at this point. If I donāt start hearing about this from the gamechangers on YT Iām pretty much done with the wider community. Like between this and the time that EA worked with a pedophile who tried to GROOM a child?? Then EA tried to fucking ignore it?
