if I start thinking too hard about the Flamechasers, I start getting sad

13 at the start, 3 made it to the Current Era. they formed from tragedy, and ended in tragedy. all the memories, friendships, joy, and love would be forever lost to time. the 3 who survived carried this burden of their dead comrades.

they kept living because they HAD to, it was the others’ final wishes after all

I think Hua tried to replicate some of Eden’s songs with the instruments in the Current Era, but she just can’t remember, no matter how hard she tried. does Kevin keep the broken crystal flower with him? as a reminder to continue fighting, and be the hero in her place? she did say that she was never fit to be a hero like he was. and Su keeps the letter from Dr. MEI. Project Regulator. he prayed that he never had to use it, but he still had to, and ended up playing Go with God, stuck in the limbo between life and true death.

it’s cruel, he has technically died, but he can’t reunite with the others who died millenniums ago.

and the cruelest thing of all? the immortality they were all granted was thrown away by the majority. some died fighting. some died because they wanted to. maybe those who died fighting wanted to die with the era as well.

…oh my god what if the reason why Hua got shot by Otto is because she subconciously let him? on the surface, she took it as a deep betrayal, but perhaps deep down, she was tired at that point. the balance of the second family she found was disrupted, and everything was thrown into chaos. I wouldn’t blame her if she let Otto kill her. she lost everyone she knew from back then, and the new bonds she formed were destroyed by her own hands, at least in her own view.

Random musings cause I have something in the works. (Note that I’m not a lore master and this is all theory with a healthy dose of headcanon.)

SAKURA dies. Then Elysia makes some ‘traitorous’ choice, leading to her own death. Two more Flame-Chasers die within minutes of their fight with the Herrscher of End. Eden passes on Project Ember to Fu Hua. When she awakens from cryosleep, Eden isn’t there.

(For a time) Fu Hua was immortal, and now she would have to fight the Honkai for a very long time, possibly forever. But, it’s not so bad! She has her reliable leader and comrades, with life spans presumably equal to her own, right?

Mobius makes her choice. At some point, Kevin decides to go forward with Project STIGMA, Su sends him to the Sea of Quanta. Su himself spends the rest of his life working on Project Valuka, eventually dying after succeeding.

Mortals keep dying and one by one, the people that Fu Hua was supposed to be able to rely on to be there until the end of time with her just. Disappear. She probably doesn’t even know what happened to half of them.

Which makes it so fucking powerful and gay that when Kiana says she won’t let Fu Hua be alone, she believes her.
