The Truth About Lush

Truth is, Lush isn't what it used to be. Quality control seems non-existent and products are way below par, often, but Lush bigwigs would rather send out replacements than fix the underlying problems. We're collecting some examples from several customers here. Submit your own.

When a Lush forumite posed the question:

"It seems an odd new addition to products like Christmas Eve and candy mountain, even pumpkin and penguin have it, So what is its value? Rather than just being a cheap bulking agent."

A member of staff flew back with this reply:

"Like in Putty and Fun it makes the water silky and conditioning."

Well blow me!! Slap my thigh!! Excuse me whilst I go and jump into the Irish Stew I used cornflour in this afternoon, you know, to thicken it?

Upon being asked where it states that cornflour possesses such properties, she went a little quiet.

Can't possibly think why???

I'm not sure when you got those date guidelines or where they're from, but here in NZ (and its the same in Australia) our fresh has the same dates but all other product has a maximum age in store (from made on date) of 6 months and have a labelled use by date of 14 months. This excludes fragrances, which have a maximum in store age of 12 months because of the alcohol base.

About your latest post about the "freshness" of Lush products - are you aware that the majority of non-fresh cosmetics can quite happily be over a year old before even entering a store? Quite often a Lush product can be on sale in a shop within a week of being made. It also means that the ingredients used in the products are fresh - fresh fruit and veg etc.

Lush mean fresh by subjective standards in today's cosmetic industry, where a mascara can sit in a warehouse for 24months before it's shipped. Personally a body lotion or facemask that I know is made the day before and then shipped within 48 hours is far greater than any other company's produce. I also find it unbelievably sad that you dedicated an entire tumblr to hatred.. I feel really sorry for you and hope your anger doesn't destroy you. Try and see the good in life, not focus always on bad.
