「 I had a witty remark, but it would be too rude and I like being in one piece. 」 Anyhow, better not underestimate her observation skills. Perhaps in her own way she might see things that he fails to notice for a number of reasons or raise up good points. At least she decided the direction they should be taking with her stomach. That was good as any starting area.
❝ It is weird to see how this island seems to be clean and well-maintained. Until a few hours ago, it was sealed off and there’s no-one in sight. ❞ Hinata commented. Is the food in there even safe for consumption or was it spoiled? Either way, he hoped that Owari’s stomach wouldn’t betray her. Still, the ambiance seems different…compared to the first island with the hotel. …Well, now’s not the time to make carefree observations, there might be a clue here that can help them to leave the island. ❝ Pork Burger, huh? ❞ he read the rotating sign aloud, recalling the chain from back home. 「 ‘suppose some people can’t go on without their junk food fix. 」 …Like Togami.
No, now it isn’t the time to get down. He needed to focus. Their late self-acclaimed leader would chastise him for dawdling. Without waiting for Akane, Hajime walked into the parking lot — he knew she would rush straight into the diner anyway. Still… Monomi’s words at the restaurant were ominous. What did she mean with escaping was no longer possible?
“they musta bussed ‘em out before we got here, huh?”
the suggestion was ridiculous, and akane knew it. despite how well-kept everything was, there were no signs that anyone else had been there recently. no footprints in the sand or anywhere else, no trash, the shelves of the supermarket were stocked-- everything was preserved, spotless, except the old building where togami died.
she wasted no time in following after hinata. “yo, what’s that? somethin’ about a burger?” there was a gleam in her eye as she inspected the sign, and then she was rushing past him, slamming the door open.
this would be a good opportunity for a test...
akane waited until hinata got inside and closed the door behind him. “i got an idea, hiroki. how ‘bout that meal ya promised me?”
well, he didn’t really promise her anything of the sort. she’d pretty much bullied it out of him, and judging by their prior interaction, he’d probably capitulate in order to avoid trouble. boring, but at least this way she could rule out any kind of culinary talent similar to what hanamura had, and maybe some of the more analytical talents too.
(god, akane grumbled wordlessly to herself, this is such a pain. hanging out with such a dry guy just so i can get a better read on him...)
