Anthion was worked up. For days after seeing Solan he was rushing around the castle, looking up recipes trying them out of Alle’s family members. It was like he was alive again and Anthion didn’t know if he liked it or if he was lost in his need to win approval from both Solan and Alle.

He had bee so focused on reading that he almost ignored the sound of Alle’s footsteps from the hallway. When she entered his lab, he looked up and felt his heart be pulled towards her. No matter the rest of the week, just seeing her confirmed that he would always love her.

“Alle-Dear.” He said closing the cookbook he was scanning. “Done with your meetings?”

“For right now.” She had one of her small smiles, the smiles that Anthion knew were the kindest things her mouth could express. “I wanted to see how you were doing. You’ve been keeping busy since you saw Solan.”

Her saying his name was a strange musical moment. Alle had a lighter voice, one that sounded young until you realized her vocabulary was that of an old woman. Anthion loved that about her, it reminded him of his life as an elf. Maybe that was one of the many factors that caused him to fall in love. Her voice reminded him of home.

“Well I do have a dinner party to plan and I am not making something pedestrian for either of you.” He felt the smile crawl onto his lips. Much of his pride had changed from being a powerful monster to being a man who wanted to leave no doubt in his future mates mind. “Both of you deserve that. Also, it’ll be your first time in Eversong, I have to show off.”

“It will also be the first meal you’ve made since you’ve seen Solan.” She moved around him and Anthion could swear she was meaning something with her words.

It would be the first meal he had made him in too long. Anthion felt his heart hurt a little and he didn’t know how he was going to balance his feelings. The moment he heard Solan was alive old gaping wounds were ripped open and he didn’t know how to deal with them. The wounds only stayed open as he had spoken to the man. Everything he said was enough to cause Anthion to remember the life they almost had. A life where he would still be alive. It would only be a life without Alle.

His conflict was one that only time was going to tell what he really felt.

“Yes.” He said looking to the cookbook and not her corn flower blue eyes. “I am nervous about a few things. I-I would like to ask you something Dear. I want to tell you before I say too much. I love you. You’re the first woman I have ever fallen in love with.” He let out a small breath. “You’re the only woman I’ve ever considered marrying.”

Alle finished her circle around him to stand beside him at his desk. One of her warm hands covered his cool one. Her touch was something he had earned and the simple act, while no longer new still amazed him.

“I know. And I am yours.” She moved so she could set on the edge of the table, holding his hand in hers. “I never had a doubt about that.”

“What if, I still had feelings for Solan?”

The words were out and Anthion felt a small rush of panic as he said them. The panic demanded he fill the empty space not wanting to wait for her response. “I don’t want you to think that this is because of anything you did. It’s a lot of old memories that I am having a hard time trying to navigate and I-I don’t know how to handle my feelings. San’layn were made to have our possessive and territorial feelings boosted. I am lost in what I’m doing. I don’t even know how the living me would have handled th-“

Alle’s hand moved from his hand to his cheek, the warmth kissing his skin. “Stop it. You’re working yourself up again.” Her voice stayed calm and as he looked up to her eyes he saw there was no resentment, no anger. “Do you want to restart your relationship with him?”

“I don’t know.” Anthion said it honestly. “I have old feelings I can’t shake, and I don’t want to ruin who we are.”

“You can’t ruin who we are.” She rubbed her thumb over his cheek. “I don’t care if you have feelings for him. I see it as a good sign, you’re feeling parts of your former self.”

“Neither of us want to hurt you.” He looked up to Alle, and seeing her calm, his fear pulled away. “He doesn’t know I have these feelings; I did warn him I would probably flirt with him. It just, comes out of me.”

Alle paused and for a moment Anthion wondered if she was going to tell him to not flirt with Solan. She leaned down and kissed his cheek a small serene smile fixed on her. “I could tell, you were nearly gushing with approval of him when we spoke. I don’t mind you showing your affection. I’m only territorial if a woman was involved. Solan sounds like a lovely man, I don’t have any reason to feel like he would steal you from me. If instead he reminds you of your former days, brings a bit of your past to your present, then good.”

“Why are you so alright with this?” Anthion asked his voice quiet in the wonder he felt. “Women of my race are possessive and don’t want their mate sleeping around. Or that’s how it’s been. Solan has dealt with that. I couldn’t go thr-“

“I’m not an elf.” Alle said clearly. “I’m going to die one day Anthion. I am very aware I am mortal, and you will outlive me. Solan is someone you loved, and he is going to out live me. If there are lingering feelings, I would rather the two of you be friends and remember that romantic bond. Then after I’m gone, he can comfort you. You will need someone to comfort you and I am not possessive enough to think you should die alone.”

The truth of her intentions hit Anthion like a brick wall. “Alle. Don’t, don’t mention your death.”

“I will die. It’s going to happen. I delayed it enough with my time in the Forest and I’m grateful for that. But you need to understand.” She rested her forehead to his and he could feel her heartbeat under her skin. “I will not see you dead when I die. Don’t make me the reason you leave this world. Don’t leave your children, our children alone.”

The truth was just the way Anthion would see it. It was the true Alle that hid under the woman who acted regal and older than her physical years. This was the reason he fell in love with her, why he thought her family followed her. She had this selfless knowledge that humans did not normally have. It made her wise, but it also made him aware just what she knew.

“You know I was going to die after you passed, didn’t you?”

“I did.” Alle pulled away her shoulders rising and falling. “And I don’t want you to die when I die. You are I will have children who will need your comfort and love. Keep your connection with Solan. At least when I’m gone the two of you can keep each other safe. So please, flirt, I’ll laugh and watch you fall all over yourself.”

He was careful to rise from his seat, not wanting to push Alle away. His movements were slow as he wrapped his arms around her, giving her ample time to run if need be. “You’re unlike any woman I’ve ever known.”

Her warm arms moved around him and he could feel her steady heartbeat. The steadiness was always the clue to how she really felt. Alle could hide her emotions, but she couldn’t hide it internally. If she was jealous, he couldn’t sense it. If she had doubt, he couldn’t tell. It meant one thing. She was fine, and she meant every word she said.

“I do hope I’m unlike the other women you’ve met. They don’t need to survive what I’ve lived through.” She said it quietly her head resting on his shoulder. “I want to ask one favor.”

He stilled as he imagined it was going to be something akin to what he was used to. She would tell him not to talk about Solan to her, or one of the many other rule’s others put on their loved ones. “Anything?”

“If anything changes, you tell me first. No more pretending everything is alright.” She looked up her smile small but honest. “I’ll probably be alright with it.”

Leaning down he kissed her, it was a soft kiss, one of many they were now experts in. Anthion never thought I’d feel as grateful as he was right then. While he was still figuring out his emotions, it was good to know he wasn’t going to destroy anything by accident.

“Oh goodie.” The other San’layn picked up his glass of blood and let out a long breath. His sarcasm was light and he didn’t mention his thoughts of how he was turned. “Well, between the power, poise, and absolute fear we can instil in some people.” He shrugged. “We could have had a lot worse. Like being allergic to the sun or some other utterly silly thing like that.”

He held his glass up. “Blood? It’s a rare vintage. Blood of a demon blessed by the light.” He took a sip. “Has a.. zing to it.”

“You chose this?”  Tara’lena’s harsh whisper held no sarcasm or humor.  Her onyx eyes narrowing with a look bordering on hatred or rage.  She had far less restraints on her feelings towards her own turning, lost in Icecrown, fighting to the very end and beyond.  “Do not forget betraying everything and everyone we stood for, siding with those who defiled the Sunwell, we had our immortality and power before the Scourge slaughtered us.” Karrista slipped in quietly, almost invisible as she slid behind Tara’lena.  With a slender utility knife, she sliced through her wrist and held it near Tara’lena’s mouth, her free hand playing with her mate’s hair.  “Shh, lets not get into another fight right now, especially with someone new and interesting.  Not all San’layn were Silvermoon Rangers.” Tara’lena began purring softly, relaxed as she bit into Karrista’s wrist, drinking freely.  She slowly calmed down, still watching the unfamiliar Darkfallen, but with cautious curiosity now. “She gets hangry sometimes.”  Karrista smiled to both San’layn, though one already familiar to the pair.  Her eyes darted to the glass and smirked tauntingly.  “It’s better from the tap in my opinion.”

The Beast looked to the cup, a blackened lip rising in disgust. The urge to snatch the cup and hurl it against the wall was strong but he had no clue of the reaction of the others with him so he restrained himself…barely. “No, I am not some refined creature, playing house and drinking vitae from chalices and cups.” His blood red gaze swept across the gathered people, black veins writhing across his face. “You sit around and play like you are still among the living, those who still feel. Drinking from cups, dressing in the noblest finery. I am not like you.” He stood, flexing his right hand where a saronite gauntlet had been fused to his skin. The finger claws slid across the metal palm, sending black sparks raining from it. 

“Yes, I chose this. And you have to had you suffered as I did.” His untamed hair was more of a mane of a hunting cat than anything. “I am not this. I am the Beast, the Defiler of the World, the Left Hand of everything Sacred. I kill and feast on whom I want, when I what.” His hand swept across the room in a grand fashion. “We are the reflection of damnation and we only hide our true selves behind the laws of the living and decadence of our pretend homes.

His crimson gaze fell to the one who was once a ranger. “The Sunwell was flawed, just like the Well if came from. We had our immortality as long as the Well held and it did not. Now we have true immortality, stolen from every living being on the planet. Hide behind these manners, these walls of decadence. I will live as we were meant to, at the top of the food chain and I will revel in the blood and death. I am Lokkiir Killmourne and I have slain the last of what made me weak a long time ago.” Lokkiir returned to his seat, his fused gauntlet clicking across his knee.

Being called out, something that the former noble was used to. But there was a caught expression as he looked from his glass then to the man. “I, don’t see myself hiding behind mortal laws.” But he was wrong, he knew he clung to his humanity having seen the beast others became.

“You really remind me of someone I know. Her but shorter.” He rose a hand up not meaning to offend. “She’s a self-made goddess, refused bowing to anyone but herself.”

“I’m not going to say if what you’re doing is right or not. What is right when it comes to ‘gods’.” He didn’t add the extra emphasis since he firmly didn’t see himself as a god. Gods were things that didn’t need others to be immortal. “I’ll just say happy hunting, and if you’re going near Silverpine Forest, just, warn me. My mate is paranoid about other San’layn, we had a large number of... enemies with a group of San’layn and Alle would rather kill them and lament she couldn’t eat them. Nothing worse for a hunter.”

✭ - Olivia plans on adopting at least five cats to keep at her home in Drustvar. She wants to raise them together and keep them in the stable to prevent mice from invading the storage cellar beneath it. She is dreaming of naming them after the five winds of a story she once read.

✭ - Anthion Soulshade, a man Olivia once detested, is now the object of complex feelings in her life. He was once the perfect villain, but now she is not so sure. While she should be kinder to him or at least give him more consideration, she stubbornly refuses. This is simply what it is like to cross Olivia. The woman holds grudges.

✭ - Olivia considers herself to have a large family, mostly because she simply adopts her dearest friends into what she calls her family group. This group includes a few demons, a number of very private mortals, and a person with whom she is in love but hasn’t confessed such.

((Anthion is just confused by her since he didn’t know the depth of his son’s pain when they were at odds. Now he just thinks Olivia hates him to hate him and either avoids her at all costs or will be there to just be annoying. It depends on his mood, which is always changing.))

Halaena listened to the man explain himself with a lazy gaze, though her smile remained, “I cannot say I miss the days where I lacked my own free will. On the contrary, I wish I could forget those days altogether.” She shifted the way she was sitting, letting her right cheek rest within the palm of her right hand, the left falling to the table for her clawed fingertips to tap against the wood.

“Travel and meeting people? I may have to keep that in mind. I am not sure if my soul needs any brightening, but it could prove to be amusing. Most lands do not smile upon the presence of those like us, but maybe with some luck…” Her voice drifted away as her mind wandered, “Hmm. The biggest monster in the room? I like that. You have already given me much to ponder, I appreciate that. Taking it a day at a time is one way to go about it…”

Pursing his lips slightly Anthion watched the woman and just nodded. He had spent his time around his fellow kind to know when he might be safe or not. “You have to be creative. Illusion magic is a gift. The Alliance now have those funny little void elves, and one can always look like a blood elf. There are options, one has to be, creative about such things.”

But he was speaking fully from being told all of this by those he trusted most. “What do you do, other than contemplate our current existence? How are you feeding yourself?” Reaching into his robe at the mention of food and pulled out a rune covered flask which he opened. Halaena would be able to smell there was a ritch blood on the inside of the flask. It had something magical about it, and as Anthion took a long sip he looked at it then her. “It’s hard to feed when you’re the enemy.”

“I suppose one might describe me as a.. Lone Wolf type? I never really found much of a need to hunt in a pack.” The San’layn woman brought her elbows to the table so she may rest her chin upon both hands, intertwined. As their gazes met, hers would narrow slightly. It was a fact hard to observe considering how dark a shade of crimson her eyes truly were.

“There is joy to be had in our existence? I was not aware, but then again I have been losing myself in a horrible habit of brooding about the shadows.” Her ruby red lips curled upwards into a smile, “I think the better question is how has it NOT been dark for me? Not that I am complaining, to be honest, deep within what is left of my bewitched soul I have found a sense of… Freedom, in this eternal darkness? I do not remember much of my life before, except rules and regulations and submission…”

Her eyes glanced downwards to the book her placed down, “Oh my, did I interrupt a good read?”

The book looked to be a research compendium about the mind. Still the man didn’t look down or follow to the question she gave. Instead he watched her quietly as he formulate his wording. “Well it’s all part of your point of view. I long since allowed myself to brood. If I do that, what’s the point of this second life? I’d rather be happy. But... It all depends if you miss live under the Litch King or not.”

“I had a free life before, I was stupid and I became, no longer free up until recently. So I tend to take my freedom very seriously these days. My Mate tells me travel and meeting people can... brighten even the darkest soul.” But then he paused and squinted his eyes in thought. “Though there is always joy of being the bigger monster in the room of wolves. I’ve been enjoying that. It’s all dependent on what you like. So what do you like and maybe you can muster up some joy that way.”

Looking up from his book the other san’layn paused as if trying to gauge the situation. There were many of their kind in the world, but not all of them were friend to him anymore. “You must not be apart of any groups... that’s probably a good thing for both of us.” Putting his book down he fully looked at her with his black eyes.

“The world treats me as well as it can. I’ve had to learn to make my own... joy as it is said.” He was dressed like a nobleman, and normally he kept an illusion of being a void elf up to keep people from noticing what he really was. “But the world can easily be cruel. How has it been dark for you?”

She lifts her glass to her lips and finds it empty, with a sigh on a sour note, she nods to her companion and goes off in search of something to wash that familiar, unwelcome taste out of her mouth.

A Balance In Us

I am in a sorry state. I might as well be a packrat or some other loathsome creature that dwells in the garbage pits of a major city. I smell like the sea, my robe still has sand clinging to the edge of it and my arms are filled with, trash. To be perfectly frank, when Alice and I decided to go fishing and get away from the festival, I had thought I had a good grasp on fishing. I am, forever surprised that I am not nearly as adopted with everything as I thought I was. The few fish that were caught were all hers and I have been left with the noble thought that I might have cleaned up much of the beach of Gadgetzan before my time was through.

All of this being said though. I returned to the Duchy and my Duchess with a bag full of empty rum bottles and enough tattered cloth to make many many blankets from.

“Alle Dear.” I called out as I came into her living quarters. I know I am a state, but, I think there is a talk that needs to be said, and... I am curious if she can do anything with all of this. I do promise, I am not a hoarder or anything, but, this was a perfect opening to a neutral conversation.

As I’m putting the makeshift canvas bags down I notice Alle sitting neatly on a sofa near by. She is dressed more casually than normal, her dress not as ridged and I can tell she’s not wearing a corset at the moment. The thought, is almost like someone hit me with a snowball on a warm day. It’s shocking, but I have to remind myself, I have seen women in nothing but what they were born with. But this is different and I feel as if I am intruding upon her... I am intruding, I always intrude at first, but this time I feel it.

Her bright eyes lock on me and my bags. “What is all of that?”

“Bottles, cloth... I was going to see if you had any recycling facilities I can use? Glass is always needed for... people.” I am bullshitting out of my fine silk clad ass. I have no idea if she needs this, but I wanted to bring it to see if it was a good neutral opener for the more, pining questions in my heart.

Part of me wonders if she saw right through me. She always sees right through my acts. “We can try to find something to do with them. The cloth could be very good for making paper.” getting up she crossed over to look into the bags. “How was your.... day with Alice?”

“Perfectly charming as it should be with anything a man does with his daughter.” I say but I know I sound aloof, I am always aloof vocally, call it a natural defense if you must. “We had a good time though, I might have learned a little too much about my son, but, it was charming.”

“I believe Quin will want you to say Alice is your future daughter-in-law.” Alle reminded me, but honestly, I don’t care. Quin can groan about it, but to me a child is a child and I am firm on this.

But for Alle I just nod and continue to speak. “Sadly the festival wasn’t to my taste, nothing good to eat and I’m not so fond of... people in general.”

“That is hardly a surprise.” Reaching into the bag I watch her pull out a bottle and examine it. “You know, if these had been broken they would make beautiful sea glass pieces later on. That’s a future idea for yourself, you’ll be able to see the reaping of your seeds if you do that.”

I need to ignore the mention of my immortality, and instead do what I always do, divert. Maybe many don’t notice this, but I am a master of diverting conversation. It’s an old habit I picked up and use, often. “Do you like sea glass? It can’t be common in Silverpine.”

“It wasn’t.” She said her smile small, and I know I have unlocked a door to some beautiful memory she had. “My Father had made my mother a necklace of sea glass. It wasn’t something opulent like other noble ladies had, but, it was beautiful.. She was buried with it.”

There are times I see through her wall, that Gilnean wall of strength and fortitude, and I see the woman inside. Maybe others see this woman as a strong, unmovable force, but I have see the young scared noblewoman. The little girl who was given impossible choices to make and survived them. 

“It sounds lovely... Maybe I can acquire you something of the same make?”

Her eyebrows move slowly as she thinks, what would that mean for us? I have made her a ring once for her protection, but now, a piece, just so she can have a piece? That’s a line and I know we’re reaching something that I have been wanting to ask.

“How long have we known each other Anthion?” Her even saying my name draws up a shiver.

It takes me a moment to calculate it. “A little over a year and a half, why?”

“How long has it been since... we told each other how we felt?”

Oh yes, not even a month since we admitted it that she finally puts together some small pieces. “Less that a month my Dear.”

“What does that mean then?” She put the bottle down and looked up to me. I know we are strange, there is nothing about out relationship that should be ‘normal’, but here we are.

My tongue lightly wets the seal of my lips, not wanting to appear threatening, I slowly hold a hand out to her. “Normally, when people admit such things, and there is nothing to stop them, they normally, court.”

Court. I have hated that word since I was a child. It meant escorts and family having to negotiate over what we can and can’t do. All of those things nobles have to worry about, all those things I thought I left behind when I died. Alle and I are not normal people. She’s a wild beautiful thing, and I am no longer beholden to my races ridged traditions.

“Court, is a very formal term.” Alle said, taking one small step away from me. The distance was easily felt and I wonder if I have stepped over one of her unseen lines. “But the term, boyfriend and girlfriend is... immature. I’m too old to be called a ‘girl’ anymore, and I doubt you want anything as juvinaile as that.”

She didn’t want- My mind had been rubber banded and I felt the world spin around me. “Are you saying, that, you do want to court me?”

The wait was like everything froze. Maybe she didn’t know what she was saying, maybe I was reading between the lines. Her eyes flashed up to me and those lips of hers pulled in as she though.

“Did we not admit we...” She stopped, and I suspect that it is hard to say it again in a moment like this. A flush was rising to her cheeks as he pushed through what she wanted to say. “love one another? That, as you said, means we should, court.”

Oh I adore how strained she is. This is probably the hardest thing she has ever had to do and I am as always, in awed of her resolve. “I had more wanted to inform you what is normal, and... you deserve better than normal.” I stopped facing her head on. “Lady Beithioch,” I said dusting the front of my shirt. “May I court you?” This was the only way to truly play this hand we’ve been dealt. Forever I will be asking her for permission, and I am happy to do that. She deserves to pick, she deserves to have a proper moment of someone asking her this. So again I hold my hand out to her, and this time her warm hand rested over mind.

Her heart beat is easy for me to hear, the thundering shuddering beats were almost all I could hear. How much strength does it take to admit this? There is no way to quantify but I can say the outcome is, magical. “Yes.” She said finally, the strength returning to her voice. “But give we aren’t normal, I never want to be called girlfriend. “My Lady.” I said a smile growing on my face and I know I can’t help but show my teeth. Others would be afraid of my fangs, but this is just one of us smiling at the other. Both of us finding the one thing we’ve been trying to find. Where is our balance, and what makes us, us. “I am more than overjoyed to agree with your terms.”

Lifting her hand up I press my lips to her knuckles and hear a small intake of breath. The cold alone of my lips remind us both of how off we are, but right now, I don’t care. She’s the noblewoman with the heart of the wild in her, and I’m an undead monster who's attempting... some form of life.

“You do know that this means all of our previous contract of friendship needs to be renegotiated.”

If I ever die, this is what I will remember in any future life. This damn woman and her ability to cut me down from a high point and into a place where I know she’s always thinking one step ahead of where I have been plotting.

The other man smiled a bit thinking of the woman who had gotten the blood for him. Knowing they were alone, knowing there was a line that Anthion found himself crossing. He shook his head. In the past other Darkfallen had snipped about a relationship like he was having, even the elves would have said something about it. But, times like this Anthion reminded himself, he didn’t care anymore.

“Oh no. I can’t stand most of our kind. She is…” He looked out seeing the guards walking around and shrugged. “not of the Horde. And if you must know there are several ways to take blood, some even like it as.. a warm up for other recreations. I don’t do that anymore, but, it was fun. Priests who have a Darkfallen fantasy are amusing to play with.” But Anthion shrugged. “I never asked how she got the blood though. To keep on the topic. But she gets enough to start a secret business for any blood drinker to purchase exotic selections from her. If you don’t mind dealing with an Alliance citizen.”

So many questions were buzzing around in his head space. She’s not a blood drinker herself but amassed large sums of blood? What business would a non San’layn have with blood and from so many different sources? Grey ears flicked as if to physically dimiss the thoughts themselves. Eladrien leaned against the stone wall behind him, arms crossed over his chest.

“Faction matters little to me, I have no use for this faction war, save to satiate my own thirst without guilt.” The elf even waved a hand as if throughouly disgusted with the whole state of things. “I have numerous questions for a person such as your woman, I would be interested in doing business with her myself. Perhaps that would be the best way to get all my questions answered.” The elf eyed the dark haired elf over, chewing his bottom lip a moment before asking

“Would I be able to do business with her? Or at the very least meet her myself or would you not be comfortable with such a thing, seeing how we only just met?” He certainly didn’t want any quarrels with either of these two fascinating people, their ways were so strange to him. He had never fully considered the options he had, perhaps he could learn a thing or two from this couple.

Anthion was fine, still standing with his near regal pose until one thing was said. ‘Your Woman’. Maybe it was his years of being around darkfallen who would consider a human a pet not a person, it hardened Anthion to keep to correct titles. “My Lady.” He corrected, but it was the first time something cooler in his voice.

Behind closed lips his tongue traced over his fangs in an annoyance he couldn’t place. He had been alright with other Darkfallen meeting his chosen mate, but now someone he didn't know drove him to a possessive place. That was, until he remembered one thing. “I, do know she needs more people to trade with. And if you even attempted to hurt her she’d kill you.” He said it with all the grace of a well appointed stab between the ribs. “So, I could manage to get you a letter of introduction. I suppose you are employed somewhere?”

Parental involvement. Being raised as a noble of Silvermoon Anthion’s parents took a strange path and made sure their son was given every chance to find where he wanted to belong. Finding he was a strong mage his father taught Anthion to enchant and to study magic on his own. Anthion’s mother was where he fell in love with cooking and anything that’s beautiful. She pulled her son aside and taught him to arranged flowers, how to see if your clothing is of high quality, how to properly barter with someone with out offending them. When his parents died in his early hundreds he felt the rift deeply and threw himself into his studies and started to build the wall of not wanting to deal with people the he’s only now starting to pull down.

Market and Morals

Anthion dressed in one of his classic red robes. It was one of those staples he couldn’t be with out. With a new found freedom he hadn’t had in a while Anthion was planning on going to the market and doing something rash, being around, people. In the Horde he could fake his condition well enough. His eyes were black and using blood magic he gave himself just a ting of a flush. He wouldn’t be warm, but it was a normal condition and he knew finding a way to be warm was more trouble than just accepting he was could to the touch.

Moving down the market place he examined cloth, jewels, and his favorite food. Taking the moment to smell spices, the new but now old heightened senses were able to catch more as he lowered his nose to the herbs and spices. All the smells reminded him he was still hungry. His hand reaching into his robe he produced a large flask, only when he opened it, anyone with the heightened sense of smell like him would be able to tell that he was drinking blood, blood from something exotic.

Eladrien moved through the marketplace, a silent shadow, his hands clasped behind his back. The blooddrinker was dressed casually, rather than covered from head to toe in Saronite armor. Instead the grey skinned elf wore a simple, black cotton shirt and comfortable, slim fitting, jean-like pants. Never the one for such royal or noble attire.

He had been perusing the goods offered by the many merchants, fresh produce, spices, cloths, jewelry, the like. That was until he came within close proximity of the man in the red robe. The contents of the mans flask, were intimately familiar to one such as Eladrien. His acute sense of smell, paired with the dry burning in his throat alerted him of what was inside the flask. A smile flashed across Eladrien’s face, coming to stand very near to the robed man. He said in a voice too low for many others to catch, but loud enough that were his suspicions right, this stranger would be able to hear, “Now that’s a clever way of satiating your thirst.” Eladrien faced away from the man, his back turned, crimson eyes staring over his own shoulder a moment before fixating on some miscellaneous item a merchant was attempting to sell him.

With polite, soft spoken words, the simple clothed knight turned down the eager merchant. Remaining within earshot of the dark haired man he had spoken to, awaiting some form of response or at the least acknowledgment. Fel, it wasn’t as if you came across another Darkfallen everyday. The least the other man could do was exchange a few words.

The phrase could have been taken in any way, but there were fine things Anthion slowly started to observe. Mainly, the lack of living tendencies all living creatures had. Even he forgot to pump his chest with air, it was a bad habit he would have to fix if he planned on living in the Alliance as a void elf. Still paying the merchant with some coin he was given a clay jar of spicy pepper paste that he planed on keeping for his cooking collection. 

If he hadn’t heard the comment he would have left, instead the black eyed Darkfallen loved onto Eladrien’s eyes and an ever so small smile crept up. “One has to find new ways of doing what we need to for survival.” He looked at his flask and offered it to the other man. “Have you ever had… I believe druid?” Not saying the word blood out in public, but to him it would be a good enough to get his point across. There was a pretentious noble air to him, but he still offered out the flask for the other man.

Turning on his heel, Eladrien noted the regal way in which the man carried himself, he seemed as though he belonged to some noble court, having meetings in luxurious manor homes, daintily nibbling on exotic cuisine of some sort, as they laughed and discussed politics or philosophy. All in all the man seemed a bit out of place here among the common merchants.

But he was kind,rather than the typical condolescing nobles Eladrien often encountered amongst his travels, it was a refreshing difference. He extended one clawed hand to take the offered flask, holding it beneath his nose as one might do with wine. Not that it needed to be so close with his heightened senses, but it would look a bit more natural this way. Before he took a swig he offered a reply to the mans question, and“I can’t say that i have, in fact I’d dare to say I haven’t, yet. Might I ask how you obtained this?” While he awaited a reply he raised the flask to his lips, taking a small polite sip, before handing it back to its owner.

Eladrien did his best to keep a neutral facial expression, but the flavors on his tongue were wildly exciting. There was a strange kick to this particular liquid, as if these tree huggers, packed a little more life essence into their own life blood. It certainly wasn’t a taste you would forget, and he was absolutely certain he had never drank from a Druid before. Taking a drink wasn’t a wise move for him, though he had fed recently and to quite a large extent, his whole being felt as though it was on fire suddenly, thirsting for more of what the man’s flask held. Swallowing hard against this intense desire, he instead waited patiently for the mans answer.

Watching Anthion knew the thirst that plagued their kind. Instead he watched and nodded with a small coy smile of a man who knew too well what that blood was like. “That old thing.” He shrugged and motioned for them to get out of the way of the ‘normals’. 

Once they were out of the direct view of the locals Anthion took back the flask and closed it. “My..” What did he call her, to him it was too soon to say what he felt like it was. “Girlfriend. She is very accepting of what I am and supports my eating habits. I used to love food, so exotic blood is, a substitute that I can indulge in.”

But he was watching the other man and gave an ever so small bow. “Anthion Soulshade, former Lord... But no one is going to let an undead hold a title and land.” He nodded to Eladrien. “What about yourself sir?”
