Hiya!!!!! This is the side blog for a Stobotnik fan account (@onlymadethisforwonka) lmao, but I make more art than that!!! Putting everything from lore fo my stories to serious art studies on here. If you want sonic art, go to the other blog :]
The Baleens have a few varieties of houses, but in the areas where good sand is plentiful, along with the other supplies needed, you can't beat a good solid glass dome.
Originally, the glass domes started much smaller as cremation/burial mounds for members. But over time, they built up to become homes for the living.
I did not have the energy/time to draw more for this concept but you're dead on. Not only would the types of sand change things, but the mud/clay used would have an impact as well!
I mostly went for this color because the examples of ancient "primitive" glass I could find that was clear-ish was all in the green-blue range.
The Baleens could and would also polish the glass, if they didn't want clay or mud to stick to it, unless it got baked in there, which could happen!
There would also, absolutely, be impurities, but I don't know if a seashell would be able to tolerate that much heat? I need to do more research.
(Note to self design some sea/shore critters with shells)
Two years have passed since I drew every wings of fire dragon tribe from a scientific standpoint (check it out here). I've rewatched The future is wild and a few breakdowns touching its inaccuracy in modern days some time ago and looked back at this old project I did... My idea is that it's an exoplanet with conditions similar to Earth, and dragons are native aliens.
Here are first four tribes, changed so much they don't even resemble the originals?? Pretty much all you need to know are on the pictures.
And here are some individuals:
AND here is some lore regarding their culture!
This will be a massive project. These took a while to come up with and draw. I will be posting some lore details, and a special tag too! Feel free to ask stuff in my ask box
I love you speculative biology. I love you worldbuilding projects. I love you creature design. I love you fantasy biology. I love you speculative evolution. I love you science fiction.

Thinking of making creatures….speculative evolution is one of my favorite things to do and i have so many ideas
The world I’m trying to develop has two main areas, A large expanse of deep ocean and floating islands with low air pressure and varying climates and temperatures. Thinking of taking lots of inspo from cliff-nesting birds like auks and albatrosses.
Both are Felinoids, cat-like human descendants. Both are of the hairless variety, inspired by Lykoi and Peterbald cats. The territories that they live in have a culture among the higher society of attempting to look as close to the human race as possible (the humans being a distant legend at this point in time) so the beauty standard is both very gendered and very restrictive. This includes things like clipping claws/declawing, shaving excess fur, docking or tucking tails, plucking whiskers, etc. Standards for each gender follow a very similar trend to current Eurocentric standards.
More about the specific characters ⬇️
The territory these two live in are rivaling kingdoms on either side of a low mountain range, which they constantly fight over. Named Eastland and Westland respectively, they are very similar, both being ruled by monarchies and having a majority felinoid population. They have a constant war-like feud between them over the mountain range that divides the two kingdoms. However, this mountain range used to be home to a large population of Lobopods that migrated from the coastal areas and the cities, as there are large pools of water around most of the mountaintops. This fighting has caused the population to dwindle and most of them to flee, as villages and many churches were destroyed in the crossfire.
Cubus, or Cube, is a spy for the Westland family, made to perform as a jester for the Eastland household after being caught in a battle and taken as a spoil of war. They are intersex but chose to get top surgery and many many tattoos in pinks, blues, and greens in natural looking swirls across their body, and they choose to shave most of their spinal ridge hair down to the base of their tail, where they leave a star-shaped tuft. Cube needs to wear glasses because they are a little bit nearsighted.
Born in Eastland, Cubus did odd jobs and worked to keep a roof over their head and support their family. At the age of 16 they were drafted into the Eastland army and very quickly captured by Westland. In exchange for their life they chose to become a spy, something they were very good at.
Louis is one prince (through marriage) of the Eastland family. His mother, Fastrada, married the king when Louis was 12 or 13, so he has for the most part been raised as a prince. He is not the heir to the throne, that is his older brother. He is a very accomplished soldier but doesn’t want to be. He is fascinated by the night sky and attempts to secretly study astronomy in his spare time, as his family puts a lot of pressure on him to keep his main focus on being a soldier.
Illustrations for Tyler Rhodes; a project in which children created speculative evolutionary trees, and I had the fun task of illustrating some of the resulting species :)
