One of my favourite Shane headcanons is that since he spent most of his free time as a kid in Canadian rural areas bc he wasn't really all that sociable as a kid and that's where his family was during summer he was a bug kid which meant he spent his time catching and studying bugs and other small critters and even snakes at some point later which grew into a facination of all kinds of animals so he is always enticed with all the animals they see when they are at the cottage and he wants to show them to Ilya the way he did to his parents growing up bc thats his love language and since it's his hobby he knows how to safely handle wildlife and Ilya who has grown up and spent majority of his time in big cities like Moscow and Boston is absulutly terrified of bugs and all animals that aren't traditional pets one time he got a bat in his house and he called 911 and waited outside untill they came to rescue the poor animal and it wasn't even a regular bat it was a fruit bat and shane had a pet tarantula called Charlie and he always talked about his childhood pet with love but it never came up what the pet actually was Ilya just assumed it was a cat or a dog and then one day when Yuna was showing him pictures of Shane he saw a picture of a 14 year old Shane holding a spider the size of his head and was like 'WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT' and Shane overheared it and was like 'Thats Charlie remember I told you about him.' And it made Ilya contemplate his life for like a week. And like I know they would never willingly separate from each other, but you know that one couple where they are like his euro summer my euro summer and the girl is drinking and visiting museums and eating at cafes and the guy is in the wilderness basically doing a survivor simulator and I think if they ever did have separate vacations that would be exactly what it would look like

I need everyone to understand that if anyone is messy, it’s Shane. Only-child Shane, whose parents doted on him and helped make his every dream come true. Who plops down at a lunch at a very nice restaurant and pouts about going to Wimbeldon and his parents gently coax him into being open to it because they’ve been gently coaxing him for over twenty years. His parents who support his dreams so much they pick up his dirty socks and never held him to a strict chore chart because his life was already so regimented. He only learned to do laundry because he moved out, and even then Yuna helped him set up an on-call laundry service for whenever he wanted it. He has a weekly housekeeper, and while he’s tidy and folds his clothes before his first blow job, he also has professionals coming around regularly to really keep him neat and clean.

Then Ilya’s princely Russian ass comes into the picture and he’s like, “Shane, do you not put the toilet seat down? What do you mean you don’t know where the dustpan lives? Which cycle do you use on the washing machine? You don’t know? How can you not know this?

Very quickly Ilya learns Shane’s the hardest worker to ever hit the ice, but domestically he’s kind of spoiled. And Ilya is fine spoiling him for the rest of his life, but he also teaches Shane how to properly keep a home and it becomes work they love doing together.

during the game after tuna-melt day, Ilya gets hurt on the ice badly! he's rushed to a hospital and while there's no permanent damage, he has some memory loss-- meaning he forgets Shane ran out on him the day before. Shane finds out when he goes to visit Ilya in the hospital because even though he doesn't know where they stand after he ran away, he still needs to see Ilya's okay before having to leave the city. when he learns about the memory loss, he decides to just... not tell Ilya what happened. he wants things to go back to normal with them. this of course means that a month and a half later, when the metros are playing in boston again, he realizes Ilya planned that day despite making it seem like it was an 'in the moment' decision.

Ilya 'casually' suggests he can stay after sex, he makes them the same tuna melts he did the first time (only now Shane notices the ingredients are already prepared), he asks the same line of questions which Shane understands now is him asking about him seeing any girls ("I see you and rose Landry together a lot" "oh. yeah but she's just a friend" "so you and rose Landry are not...?" "no, no. it's just gossip").

when they go to bed that night, because Shane stayed this time, Shane knows he's going to have to tell Ilya he knows this day was planned. that he knows because he lived it before and Ilya just can't remember...

The first time Luca Haas meets Shane Hollander outside of a hockey rink is in a random parking lot in Ottawa, a year before Shane joins Ottawa.

When he gets to Ottawa, Luca doesn't know how to drive. Because growing up in a city in Switzetland is different, alright? Public transportation is quite good. If he had to travel Luca just took a train or a bus or sometimes even a tram. And other times Luca was driven by a friends' parents. And then with his move to Ottawa he just never got round to getting his drivers license.

And Luca's a bit embarassed to admit because everyone else on the team can drive, even the other rookies (who, because they're sharing a house, he can carpool with luckily). Obviously it doesn't take long for the Young and Holmberg to figure it out and - with the logic of early twenty year olds - they go "Don't worry bro we got you, we're just gonna teach you".

So they take him to a parking lot to show him the basics and so Luca can have a go at driving. And, look, Luca's a professional Hockey player so his Hand-Eye coordination is pretty good. He is, however, not quite used to handling the break and gas pedal yet. Or, you know, remembering to shift gears.

The sharp scrape of metal that rings through the car when Luca accidentally drives backwards is a pretty good reminder though. Luca goes pale, hands gripping the steering wheel to hard they turn white.

They all scramble out of the car (Young safely parks the car a couple of feet to the right). And stare at the damage. Turns out Luca managed to hit another car ("But not a person, you didn't hurt anyone", Holmberg quickly reasures a very pale Luca). The only damage seems to be a scratch on the left side.

They stare at the scratch for a couple of seconds.

"It doesn't look too bad", Young offers.

"I hit someone's car", Luca mumbles, mortified. Young pats him on the shoulder.

"Should we leave or number?", Young asks. "That's what my Dad always said I should do."

Holmberg humms. "But Rozy told us not to give our numbers to random people", he says. Young scratched his neck. Cap's speech had mainly been about how they should not easily give out their number to people at clubs just because they said they were a fan. They weren't at a club now. But then again, maybe the person who owned the car was a fan? Bergy was probably right, they shouldn't give their numbers.

"This is bad, this is really bad", Luca says in a trembling voice. At second glance, Holmber notices that it's not just his voive but Luca's entire body that's shaking.

"Hey man, it's going to be okay." Holmber throws an arm around Luca's shoulder and tries to project as much confidence as he can into his voice. "We'll just leave them our Insta. That way, they can contact us without us giving out our numbers, yeah?"

"And why exactly would you need to contact Hollander?"

Oh. Oh god.

All three of them freeze at the new voice behind them. A new but very, very familiar voice.

"Wait did something happen with my car?"

Oh god oh fuck.

Luca isn't the only one who's shaking as they slowly turn around to face not only their Captain but also Shane fucking Hollander.

Holmberg and Young look at each other with wide eyes. Luca almost stops breathing.

Ilya and Shane are watching game tape and both taking notes (Ilya because it's his responsibility as Captain and Shane because his soul feels ItchyTM if he doesn't), when Shane notices that Ilya is just doodling loops on his page instead of taking this seriously 😠 Even with both of them on the same team, they've lost a couple games this season and they need to lock in!! 😠

Shane and Ilya don't do a lot of actual broadcasting gigs but every so often one of them will be asked to do a guest interview. At some point, someone makes the mistake of inviting both of them, maybe there's another rivalry and what a fun gimmick to have the hockey husbands weigh in on the next generation.

Things start okay, but it escalates into them bickering about their own rivalry and how this next generation of players compares to their stats, culminating in one of them telling the other to "come downstairs and say that to my face."

The network doesn't make that mistake again.

What if that whole ‘jeez you wanna get me pregnant, too’ dialogue happening more publicly somehow. Maybe when Shane is mic’d or during a post game interview with Hayden or something along those lines

Hockey Twitter having a FIELD DAY after it seeing this is a conversation that seems to have happened before and what do you mean Hayden wants to get Shane pregnant?!?!?!

Shane and Hayden didnt think much of the conversation, just some bros being silly, but now Hayden has to make official posts like ‘no I do not want to get my captain pregnant and please stop reposting that clip with #mpreg I had to explain what that means to him’

Thinking back to the time I was at a party and 2 of the boys were seeing who could do the most pushups with me sat on their back, but Hollanov at a team gathering doing this, starting with Luca or one of the rooks but that's too easy so they keep going until they are both seeing who can do the most pushups with Bood on their back and the whole team is getting way too invested and the entire time Shane and Ilya are chirping eachother.
