the grenade pin proposal from spy x family truly is an incredibly inspired scene, you wonder if endo-sensei received that scene from a divine revelation or something
She just wants a little World Domination.
A Sign of Affection | Yubisaki to Renren - chapter 55
The Apothecary Diaries, Chapter 18
being honest with myself and returning to solitude for a moment so i can blossom again
you will live and you will say the wrong things and make mistakes and people will love you anyways.
i made this post because i've got so many friends that think saying something wrong in a conversation is the end of the world. it isn't. you'll be okay. you don't have to be embarrassed about every little thing. you are alive and doing things and speaking to people. you will make mistakes and you will live.
“I don’t want something that fades after a moment. I want something that deepens every time I look at you.”
[chap 132 spoilers ‼️]
when you have a shoujo moment with your fake spouse and you forget you’re supposed to be rly good at pretending to be married
oh my god this moment is everything.
This is the very first time he's seen this side of Yor. She reminds him of himself and his fellow spies, people who have faced the reality of death and gotten used to it. To some extent, this entire country has, since the war wasn't so long ago, but they're different. I wonder how he tries to fit this in with his perception of Yor as a normal civilian.
Yor and Loid when they get into danger in front of each other
the level of dehumanization and devaluing of life it takes to see your own death as simply foolish because it leaves incriminating evidence behind.
Welp, I guess while I’m on a roll… permit me to scream about this parallel in particular.
Remember waaaaaay back in chapter 109, when Melinda professes her belief that Donovan is a mind-reading alien?
She has this intense expression that we see her make a handful of times since her first appearance. She’s completely serious in this moment.
Gee, I feel like I’ve seen someone else make this face as of late…
Oh, that’s right!
What’s my point, you may be wondering, dear reader; well, I find it fascinating how both Melinda and Yor have these contrasting moments with the man they know as Loid Forger. Yor is scared of what could happen to her husband, versus Melinda being scared of her husband.
I find such diametrically opposed experiences in two women who happen to be friends thematically delicious. Here’s Yor, terrified that she could lose her husband because of just how painfully aware she is regarding the fragility of human mortality, obviously beginning to close herself off. Meanwhile Melinda, who has clearly been closed off for some time— and in general seems to be less aware of the things that have gone on in Ostania considering her first thought is “aliens”— is beginning to open up to Loid about how nerve-wracking being around her husband is with almost the exact same blank stare.
Just some more food for thought.
Look, I got nothing insightful to say about the latest chapter that someone hasn’t already said. I never thought we’d get here, we’re all feasting, etc etc.
I just want to pay tribute to one of my favorite gags in Spy x Family.
Yuri saying something obnoxious and Loid thinking “Shut up.”
Yuri continuing to say obnoxious stuff and Loid, losing his cool, responding with an audible “Oh, shut up.”
It’s a great gag and it never fails to make me laugh.
TWIYOR NATION:
Hey can we please talk about the juxtaposition between these two panels?
And also between these two pages?
Because I love the contrast between Yor’s expression when she’s really starting to work out her true feelings for Loid and when Twilight is beginning to understand that he might actually have feelings for Yor.
AND THEN HOW THEY BOTH COME ABOUT ADMITTING SAID FEELINGS.
Yor is entranced, Twilight is distressed.
For Yor, there’s bright twinkly lights. For Twilight, there’s nothing but darkness. Chiaroscuro in the subtext, if you will.
Not to mention how Anya is a catalyst for Yor’s confession, while also being the reason that Loid doesn’t continue this line of thought.
Just food for thought.
Because I’m thinking about it.
I’m thinking about it a lot.
