I need people to stop blaming the death of movies on “quips”. A quip is just a funny line of dialogue. That’s all. Like I just saw a post talking about quips and the death of movies and brought up Pirates of the Caribbean as an example of a better movie and yes it is but also that movie is FULL OF QUIPS. I just rewatched The Princess Bride. It’s all quips. Every single line. And it’s a masterpiece.
Movies suck when people don’t care about the art they’re making. That includes them not caring about their quips. Which is why a lot of comic relief dialogue ALSO sucks now. But the problem isn’t that funny dialogue exists.
#it’s not the quips it’s the complete and utter fear of showing any kind of sincerity#honestly it’s almost the equivalent of saying ‘no homo’ after a moment of being genuine

It doesn’t feel like you thought it would. At the back of your mind, you’d always wondered why people never screamed when they were fatally wounded. You’d mentioned it to Itadori while sipping cola from fancy bottles and throwing popcorn into your mouth, only there to watch films with him because of the snacks. But it makes sense, now.
You wobble on your feet, your fingertips rising from your stomach and returning crimson. Raspberries, you think, delusional. You ate raspberries with everyone this morning. Kugisaki bit into one, and the juice dribbled down the side of her mouth. It made you laugh.
Oh. It’s warm, so warm.
That’s why it left without finishing you off.
The dirt against your cheek feels warm, too. When did you fall to the ground? You can’t remember.
Blatantly, you wonder why it decided to stab you in the stomach, of all places. A memory surfaces of someone solemnly remarking that the stomach was the worst place to wound someone. Takes longer to die, they said. Who was it?
Gojo? Ieiri? Nanami?
You’re not sure how much time has passed. Blinking feels heavy. Tiring.
And now you’re rocking back and forth. There’s pressure against your shoulders, jarring you back and forth and back -- you crack open an eye-lid.
Inumaki looks terrible.
You watch his exposed mouth tremble. Vaguely, there’s a slur of onigiri ingredients rushing through your ears faster and more jumbled than you’ve ever heard before.
“Don’t die,” he commands, eyes flashing. “Don’t die, please.”
You blink. “You can’t -- it doesn’t work like that.” And as you’re gazing at him, your lip wobbles.
He knows.
“You’re not allowed to die,” he pleads, “you … you can’t go.”
You’re not sure how you manage to raise your hand and clamp it against his lips. “Don’t waste --”
Is it raining? There’s a drop falling onto your hand.
Inumaki once trapped you out in the rain, grinning with the rest of the second and first years as you stood outside the door, soaking wet. You’d managed to grab him through the cracked-open door and pull him out with you.
And maybe Inumaki’s words do, in fact, do something. But it’s not what he wants. Adrenaline starts to wear off, perhaps swallowing false hope and thinking your body no longer needs the numbness. It hears, “don’t die,” and decides to lessen.
You gasp, your face wrinkling. You haven’t felt pain like this before.
He’s mumbling, again, safe words tumbling out of his mouth. His voice is garbled, choked up. It’s hard to make out what he’s saying.
It’s easy to think of being submerged in water. Floating, floating, floating.
It’s so cold.
You’re not sure when Inumaki shrugged off his jacket to drape it over your torso. But it doesn’t do anything to stop the shivering.
“It’s okay,” you murmur, slowly.
There’s no response.
You strain to focus your vision. He’s tightly pressing his hands against his eyes, his body wracking up and down irregularly. You don’t have to think about what it means.
He’s crying, silently. You always hated when he did that. It hurt to see him suffer.
“Please.”
There’s a hand softly cupping your cheek, a thumb closing your eyelids. Your face is wet, now. You imagine Inumaki smudging raspberry juice against your skin. He’d trace little swirls around your forehead, maybe even deciding to make a familiar circle mark against the side of your mouth, just because he could.
There’s a moment before he speaks. You know he doesn’t want to do it. He’d vehemently shaken his head and wouldn’t look you in the eyes for days when you’d mentioned it. He’d angrily scribbled on a piece of paper that he’d rather die than promise you that.
But he does, in the end, do exactly that. It’s cruel. Maybe even more painful than the piercing cold coiling in your chest.
“Sleep,” he whispers.

Arrangements
Just a drabble I came up with for Toge and you
You grew up with Toge, using sign language to speak all your lives.
Your family was very traditional to the sense that you only spoke if spoken too and were set to have an arranged marriage.
As you grew older these traditions burdened you greatly, but Toge made them seem like less of a struggle. You two would spend all your free time together and when you found out you were both set to go to Jujutsu High together you were thrilled.
But old habits die hard and you still really only speak in sign language to toge freely. Most people at the school have never heard you utter a word except your classmates that you consider friends now.
When you first met Nobara and Megumi they were shocked that there was two members who barely spoke. But you answered them when you were spoken to.
It took time for you to open up and truly communicate with them though. The first time you cracked a joke with them they were stunned. Toge couldn't help but laugh harder at their reaction.
One of the first questions they asked when you started opening up was if you and Toge were a couple to which you both blushed and you explained the arranged marriage situation.
Toge and you are sitting together looking at memes on his phone one day when Gojo and the others approach you. Gojo smirks, "so this will either be great knews or terrible knews but I brought the whole crew to back you up."
You both look up confused at the man who beams happily, "You two are engaged. Your parents called the school and informed us of the decision and asked us to tell you."
You two share a look then start to laugh hysterically. Everyone looks baffled by the reaction. They were expecting you to be mad, you had expressed your hatred for tradition many times.
Maki raises the question first, "What's so funny?"
Toge looks to you and nods, "Salmon."
"Alright... well we wrote our parents asking to have us be engaged as a joke because we both hate the forced marriage thing but like each other.... we didn't think they'd approve of it!" You answer and smile happily.
"So do you not want to be engaged?" Nobara asks confused.
You look to Toge who just nods and signs, 'I'm for this.'
Panda laughs, "of course they want that. These two are about to be our worst nightmare."
"What do you mean?" Megumi looks to him.
Maki sighs, "Now that they are engaged, traditionally Toge takes over her reputation and the rules she has... her parents signed over all say in the matter."
Everyone groans but you and Toge share a high five.

Your curse is chaos energy. It's weak at the moment because you lack control. You can just create constructs, a single form around you, or unleash a overly powerful blast that knocks you out along with obliterating any curses before you. You tend to not use that. You also are considered cursed by your parents because of your ruby red eyes, so you grew up with Satoru. He was overly protective but loving.
Because of your how you were treated by your parents over your eyes, you wore a blindfold like your older brother. Over the years you learned that you could see pure curse energy without the blindfold and grew to love the lack of that sight. So nobody other than your family has ever seen you without the blindfold.
It was easy to write it off as being light sensitive in public situations and Satoru would just have you cling to him, so you never really took it off.
Megumi and you grew up together because of the family situations, yet he hadn't even seen your eyes.
You two were best of friends. He knew what you were capable of and you knew his talent was bound to be great. The two of you would always train together and when you got to the high school it was no different. The two of you started missions as soon as you were accepted.
Gojo was not thrilled about you being on solo missions, but allowed the easier ones to be that.
You weren't shocked when the first thing Nobara and Yuji noticed was that you were related to Satoru. What did shock you was what came after.
The four of you had been following to the surprise location to test Nobara and Yuji. You knew this because you knew how your brother thought.
Yuji looked back at you and Megumi and smirked, "So are you two dating?"
"Eh?"
"What?"
Megumi and you both looked at him then looked in opposite directions blushing.
Satoru laughed, "They grew up together. They can if they want to though."
"Seriously?! Shut up!" You snap at your brother.
Yuji and Nobara share a silent look and nod with smirks before dropping the topic.
Once at the location you and Megumi sit by Satoru and wait. You can hear the fight in the building behind you and know it must be going alright if it sounds like that. But you can't get the thought of actually dating Megumi out of your mind.
You wanted to, you loved him. But he would never feel that way about you, so you thought.
The next day class started and it was boring. All any of you wanted to do was spar and get a grasp on each other's abilities. So when Satoru finally said it was time for training you all were thrilled. Day one rules, no beating to a pulp. Learn the way the others move and get a grasp of what can be done.
As you headed out to the field, Nobara looks to you, "Why don't you take that blindfold off. You don't have to hide around us."
"I can't." You mutter and move to the other side of Megumi getting unsure of her.
He knew you didn't like talking about it, he didn't even know what was under that fabric. Just why you wore it.
"Drop it." He says before she can respond.
Yuji and Nobara both looked shocked.
Satoru smirks, "It helps her conserve energy. That's all. Same as me." He then nods back to you.
You smile at the two, glad they have your back.
During the training you showed off your chaos formed sword skills, easily defending and fighting attacks. Then came the real test. You all had to work as a team to find and defeat a low grade curse hiden in the forest.
The four of you headed out and talked strategies to work as a team and make this quick. Satoru said you couldn't have dinner until it was complete.
You all stumbled upon what was easily a grade three curse and looked around. Plenty of room for all of you to show off your talents and not get in each other's way.
You each spread out and take turns attacking it, weakening it. Then as a group you strike its core from all directions and exercise it.
It was easy for the group as a whole, and you knew your chaos form would have vanquished it easily.
As a group you celebrated your victory as you headed back for some well deserved dinner.
The next day you all were gathered for a mission. Satoru explained its a simple clear the building and leave. Nothing major. Two teams to meet in the center floor and leave.
Yuji and Nobara headed into the first floor while Megumi and you were quite literally dropped off on the fourth floor by Satoru.
You make your way into the fourth floor together and look to Megumi, "Nobara and I were having a girls night..."
"And?" He looks to you confused.
"She said you like me..." You blush and look forward.
"Mhm." He looks forward.
You continue on, "you like me in a special way..?"
"We should be focused on the mission..." He says, changing the topic.
You sigh and nod, "sorry"
He just nods and walks forward.
After clearing two floors you run into Yuji and Nobara on the second floor.
"Just one room to go. But I get a odd feeling from it." Yuji admits.
The demon dogs begin to growl ferociously at the door. You and Megumi share a look then open it.
To your shock, there's a special grade within the room. Everyone freezes in place.
"Run." You mutter. "Get Satoru. I'll keep it distracted."
"I'll stay with you." Megumi says.
"No. Run." You snap and put your hands together. "I can do this if you get Satoru to come quick. I don't want you hurt."
"You're not..." He looks at you shocked.
"Only if I have to. So run." You nod and look at him. He nods and pulls the others to follow him down and out.
You'd spent years practicing since you last used your chaos blast. Surely this can't go over terribly.
You quickly attack, causing a distraction for the others to get away, only to get tossed back like a ragdoll into a wall. Before you have time to think, you've removed your blindfold and encircled two fingers from each hand into a circle and firmly state, "chaos blast."
The room is encircled in red hot energy pulsating from you and making its way out the windows.

Yuji exits the building first and shouts, "Gojo Sensei! Y/N is going against a special grade!" Just then the blast comes out of windows.
Satoru's eyes widen behind the blindfold, then he rushes forward, "Megumi, on me, you two stay back" He orders and they do as told.

You stumble forward, barely conscious, and recognize Megumi running towards you. "I did it... I..." Your voice falters as your legs shake.
Before you even realize what's going on, Megumi is holding your limp form and looking into your eyes in shock, "stay awake... I've got you..."
"Is everyone safe...? I didn't hurt anyone...?" You whisper out.
Satoru gently strokes your hair, "Just rest now. Everyone is safe. You did amazing..."
You nod softly and lay your head on Megumi's shoulder, relaxing in the feeling of him picking you up. Before you can stop yourself you've fallen asleep.

"Fushiguro. I know whats coming next. So just promise me you won't break her heart." Satoru says gently.
"I would never." Megumi says softly and shifts to hold you closer.
As they walk out Yuji and Nobara look worried. Yuji speaks first, "She took off her blindfold? Is she alright?"
"She just needs a new blindfold and some rest. The healers will help with anything that came of the fight itself. Don't worry." Satoru says gently. He's proud you controlled it so much better than you used to but worried nonetheless.
A peak past his blindfold as everyone gets in the car shows your cursed energy is weak from such a use that you still aren't prepared for and he curses himself for letting you get into that position.

You wake up that night to Megumi laying his head on your lap asleep from his position in the chair, a blindfold on your nightstand, and the familiarity of your room. When you shift, he wakes up and smiles slightly at you.
"I was worried for you. They had to heal several broken bones... and then you had used your blast... you shouldn't have done that... I could have lost you..." He admits gently.
You look into his eyes and gently stroke his cheek, "I'll never leave you..."
"Your eyes are gorgeous... and I don't believe they are a curse because you've protected your friends and me..." He says gently, leaning into your touch.
You look down, "thank you..."
"So what do you see without that blindfold?" He asks.
"Your cursed energy. How it flows. The energy of those around us." You start.
"Can you show me mine..?" He asks and sits on the bed by you.
"May i..?" You ask and hover a hand over his stomach.
He gently presses your hand to his stomach. "Show me."
You gently press your hands to his stomach, surprised by how firm it is. "Here I see where your energy core is... and it flows like a river..." You explain as your hands travel up his chest and to his arms, "to where you unleash it..." Your hands find his hands and grasp them gently.
Before you can say anything else, his lips lock onto yours. You lean back as he grasps your hands like life depends on it and kisses you like it's all he knows.
Just as he starts to move in between your legs the door flies open and you both look to it in shock, Satoru just smirks, "Play all you want but no babies! Glad your awake sis!" He then closes the door.
You both look to each other blushing brightly then laugher breaks from your lips.
People getting mad about comic/game facts not aligning with their Political Correct Ideals cracks me up.
And people who get their panties in a wad over comic facts is even funnier. Like 1) it's fictional 2) it's not your creation 3) some people actually like the representations given

14 Years old
Kaeya always remembered you coming and going in their childhood, and he never questioned it. After all your family wasn't living at the winery, just close friends with his adoptive father. He also remembered always having one of the parents keeping a close eye on you three of you.
Today your parents were speaking with their father in private while you sat outside and watched the boys spar with their weapons.
Kaeya looks over to you and smirks, "Would our princess like to learn to wield a sword?"
"Kaeya, don't force her-" Diluc starts, but is cut off by you.
"I doubt a sword is my style. Plus it's more fun watching you boys play." You call out from the tree you are sat under.
"Oh, what happened to that little girl antsy to keep up with me~" Kaeya teases.
Just then your mother calls out for you all, so the boys sheeth their weapons. Kaeya helps you off the ground and the three of you head over to your parents.
Your mother is the first to speak, "Y/N, your father and I are headed to Liyue. We will be leaving you under Crepus's care for the week we are gone."
"Alright, please be careful." You say and look to the boys who are thrilled.
With that they get on their horses and head off.
Crepus smiles at you three, "Lunch will be in an hour, why don't you three keep busy until then."
The three of you agree and head over to tables to sit.
Kaeya speaks up first, with curiosity, "So why are they headed to Liyue?"
"Oh, well, to look for something for me. Nothing too big. Just something they'd been planing for a while now." You shrug it off then smile, "How about the Knights? How is that going for you?"
The boys share a look before accepting the topic change.
The first three days turn out to be uneventful. A routine is quickly found and the boys are completely amused with how their father seems to dote over you. They are convinced that if he had a daughter, she would be spoiled just like this. They never once pick up on the slight discomfort you have when up for too long or the fact that every day you've taken a nap half way through the day. Then again, you've always been one to hide your pain with a smile.
The afternoon of the third day, you had awoke from your nap to the sound of Diluc and Kaeya coming home.
Diluc smiles to you, "Where did father go?"
"He said he had a meeting and would be back for dinner." You relay the information and sit up.
"And just when we were hoping to bother him. Shame." Kaeya says with a playful smirk.
You roll your eyes at him with a smile, "It's a nice day out. I was thinking we could go for a walk?"
Diluc nods, "Sounds like a good idea. Though you didn't have to wait for us to do that."
You feign shock, "How could I ever go out without you two?"
Kaeya smirks, "A damsel always needs her Knights in shinning armor; is that it?"
Diluc rolls his eyes, "She is hardly a damsel. Too witty."
You giggle and get up from your spot on the couch, sliding on your flats, and heading to the door. A short while later and the three of you have made your way farther out than you had ment to go and are at the riverbank. Diluc looks around skeptically, "This area is normal not watched by the Knights. We should be cautious."
Kaeya only shrugs, "We are Knights. It will be fine."
You look between them and sigh, "We can start heading back. I'm just happy to have been out and about. Not often that I see the land."
"Why is that?" Kaeya raises a brow at you.
"Well I do live in the city." You offer up the excuse and turn to start walking back to the manor.
"That doesn't mean you couldn't go for walks on your own." He comments as they follow behind you.
You shrug with a sigh, not noticing the glance the boys share with eachother. You do notice how your legs are starting to feel numb and your head is starting to hurt. This would be why you never went on walks alone. You crave to see the world like they do, but this unusual disease that is griping your fragile body won't let you. And today you just had to loose track of how far you'd gone. The last thing you wanted was for your best friend and your crush to see you as weak. Feeling weak is one thing, but to be looks upon as weak is a whole other feeling. And lately you've only been feeling weaker by the day. It's why your parents left for Liyue. To bring the new doctor they have here to look you over.
Suddenly your legs shake and give way from under you. Kaeya is quick to jump to you, catching you in his arms. "Y/n... are you alright?"
"I am... just need to rest..." You mutter, clutching to his clothing weakly.
Diluc looks worried at you, "Please don't hide anything from us. What's going on?"
You look at the ground, "I have a rare disease of sorts... the church isn't able to do anything except help ease the pain and slow its progress... that's why my parents went to Liyue. To find that new doctor in hopes he can help me..."
Kaeya carefully moves to sit on the ground and hold you on his lap, Diluc following suit and moving to sit as well. Kaeya then asks softly, "You say to slow it... do you mean this could be a fatal disease or...?"
"It seems to be that way... I'm sorry..." You mutter out without looking up.
Kaeya seems to hold you a little tighter as Diluc speaks up, "Don't be sorry. We are here to help in any way. Your still our friend that we grew up with."
You look to him and only see sincerity and comfort. When you look to Kaeya you see see sincerity as well. You can tell they don't see you any differently, but at the same time seem worried.
Kaeya finally speaks up, "Lets get you back to the manor. I'll carry you."
After that, the boys didn't treat you any differently but did understand why their father was always checking on you.
The next day, you end up curled up on the couch and sore. Kaeya sits by your side, helping the maids in caring for you. Unexpectedly, there's a knock at the door. Diluc and Crepus come out of the study and answer it while you and Kaeya watch from the couch. After a brief exchange with the stranger, the two shut the door and come in looking solemn.
Crepus speaks first, "There's been an incident. Your parents never made it to the Harbor."
"What do you mean? Are they back home?" You sit up straighter, your world suddenly feeling smaller.
"Some adventurers in Liyue found them too late... the church is already making preparations for the services..." He starts to explain delicately.
You however lose focus, your world shattering. Kaeya pulls you to him gently as sobs wrack your body.
17 years old
You and Kaeya had moved into your parents home not long after Crepus had passed. He and Diluc were on the worst of terms and you had no idea as to why. Kaeya wouldn't even speak of what happened to you. All you knew is that they had a really bad fight and he managed to get a vision.
Today was one of your better days, as your health had become worryingly worse over the years, and Kaeya was greatful for that. Today was also the day Diluc was supposed to be returning from finding a doctor to bring back to see you.
It worried you sick to see your friend go on the journey that stole your parents from you, but you knew Diluc was more adept to the hardships the world could throw at him.
Kaeya sits down beside you and holds your hands in his, "Y/n?"
"Kaeya?" You look to him questioningly.
He smiles gently, "Whatever happens today, whatever the doctor says, I won't leave your side. You know that right?"
You smile gently at him, "Why would you ever leave me?"
"Why indeed, my snowflake." He smiles charmingly at you.
You can't help the blush that raises to your cheeks.
The knock at the door interrupts the moment, and Kaeya answers it.
Soon you are being looked over by a doctor with a dendro vision and before you know it Diluc, Kaeya, and you are sat down to hear what he has to say.
"Well, the good news is I've seen this once before. And I can treat it." He explains.
Diluc skeptically leans forward, "You say that as if there is a downside."
The doctor merely nods, "I cannot restore you to the full health you were once in."
You nod, understanding what he means. You had been relying on Kaeya to walk for a few months now.
Kaeya speaks up, "What is this treatment exactly?"
"I'll provide you with the recipe, its a daily supplement she will need to take. Give it a week to see improvements. After two weeks you will be at the healthiest we can achieve." He explains moreso to you than the boys.
"So my strength should come back some..?" You ask nervously. You just don't want to be a burden to Kaeya or Diluc any longer.
"To an extent, yes." He confirms.
Kaeya and Diluc share a smile for the first time in a long time and look to you. You sigh in relief, "Then I'd like to start it."
"Of course." He says and hands over a detailed recipe that is shockingly all locally sourced, "Your lucky to be here, the last patient had to have the ingredients sent all the way to Fontine from here."
Kaeya smiles, "Thank you. This is great news."
Diluc nods in agreement and looks to you, "I'm glad this was a good resolution. I'll be back in three days, I agreed to ensure the doctors return home was safe."
"Be safe yourself Diluc." You smile up at him as he stands, "And thank you for this."
"Anything for you." He says gently before taking his leave.
Kaeya wraps his arms around you happily nuzzling his face into the crook of your neck, "I'm glad we could get you what you need..."
You hold to him and giggle softly, "I always knew I could count on you two... and thank you for taking care of me all this time."
He kisses your cheek, "of course my snowflake"
Is it worth losing this?
Kaeya knew what he had to do. It is why his father left him here in the first place.
But as he looks at your sleeping form he wanders if it is worth it.
Would losing you for his father's plan be worth it?
He's been questioning if the task and outcome would be worth his time and life since he met you.
It was three years ago and he knows he will never forget it.
"Kaeya, meet Y/N." Jean announces as the two walk into his office. "She is the newest member of your units. She moved here from Fontine and was the captain of their calvalery. I believe she will be very helpful in training and able to keep up with you like you've been wanting."
"Is that so? She looks a bit delicate to keep up with me." Kaeya says in a teasing tone.
You smirk, "Try me pretty boy."
He raises a brow, "Are you challenging your new Captain on the first day? Well then let's go outside and start training a little early to see if you have he skills to keep up with me."
That day the two of you had a sparing match that truly impressed him and all the other soldiers.
Then there is the day where he realized he loved you just a few months after you had met.
The squad had decided to vote that Kaeya should make you second in comand, to which he happily obliged them this decision, so you were moving some supplies into your now shared office.

When the doors opened and your family entered the grand mansion Diluc now owned, you were in awe. He held himself proudly as he delt with the adults trying to match him with their daughters or cut deals that would only benefit themselves. He never once wavered in his strong stance. That is, until his eyes laid upon you. He quickly excused himself and made way to your family, politely addressing your father first, "I appreciate you taking time to attend, Sir. Perhaps now we can put an end to this feud that our families have held into for so long."
"We appreciate the invitation you made for us. I do believe there is an agreement we could find. But perhaps in a more fitting setting." Your father responds.
"Then tomorrow morning would be more suiting perhaps. Let us enjoy the party and put our differences aside for now." Diluc suggests.
Your father seems less than thrilled, but your mother smiles and nods, "Yes, indeed. This is a new beginning after all."
You look surprised at her but nod in agreement. Perhaps she knows? But how would she? After all the careful secrecy, she couldn't have discovered your secret so easily.
So you wander away from your parents and find yourself drawn to the confections table that has a few of your favorite. The Blue Haired knight you used to be familiar with as children Saunders up to you and smirks, "You really have my dear brother wrapped around your finger."
"You'd really still call him brother after what happened?" You question softly.
"Of course. A small disagreement doesn't erase ties all the way. Just sets you on separate paths." He explains.
Diluc approaches looking less than thrilled, "What nonsense is he going on about now?"
"Actually that may have been the wisest thing he ever said, a pitty you missed it." You tease.
Keaya pouts for a second then sighs, "A waltz is up next. You should really partake. After all, it is your party. And someone may just sweep away your lady." Keaya whispers to the two of you before walking away.
Diluc sighs and looks to you.
Your smile brightens up his mood instantly as you generously offer, "We do not have to dance. I know it is not to your taste."
"Anything with you is to my taste. Shall we?" He holds a hand out to you as the song gently changes to a waltz.
Diluc dancing is enough to catch anyone's attention, and it being with a foreigner that stops the room in terms of beauty only adds feel to the fire as whispers sweep the room.
Thankfully the clock needs midnight not long after the dance, and you excuse yourself for some fresh air.
Once outside you sneak away to find Diluc. Under the tree, just as you expected, he stood patiently waiting.
"I'm glad you came, Y/n..." He says with a smile.
"I'll always come for you." You smile back at him. The soft light of the moon exaggerates his features in the best way possible.
He gently pulls you to his chest, "Then will you stay with me too?"
You look up in surprise, "Diluc... you mean...?"
