I know Houdini’s last lesson by heart. The magic of disappearing acts lies in the coming back.
Jesse: I went someplace Adam, and every day I woke up in that place and I told myself ‘I’m alive’ and I was. In some ways more than I've ever been. You know, an alien [laughs] an alien once told me that you know when you're alive because you can feel and you know when you're not because you don’t feel anything. I made a promise Adam; I made a promise to someone who I care about very much.
Adam: Then you’ve got nothing to worry about because you always keep your promises.
we call people who lose their parents orphans, but what do we call people who lose their siblings?
as if anything could grow from bloodstained roots // the forests you grew up in have all been burned down // and you’re left standing in the ashes // whose fault is it the one who set the fire or the one who watched it burn? //

“Mahonan Lavellan recently said in an interview with Alternative Press, the Templars paid him a visit regarding his song "I Am Going to Kill the Grand Divine of the Chantry of Thedas." He explained that he wrote it when he was touring overseas with The Long Walk. He saw Anti-Chantry rallies everyday, and explained that he wrote it from the protester's point of view. The Templars told him if he rereleased the song or ever played the song live again that he would be sentenced to five years in prison.”
It is equally both, and I am somewhere in between. I may never be a killer through experience but I am a killer by nature. Sometimes, because of it, I want to die. And other times it’s just that which makes me want to live. (x)
I’m an optimist, I’m not naive. There’s a difference.
so, here you are.
too foreign for home.
too foreign for here.
never enough for both.
“i just want to go home” said the astronaut. “so come home” said ground control. ‘‘so come home’’ said the voice from the stars.
Jesse Shepard inspired by Beyond the Horizon
Excerpt from Alliance Military Psych Profile of Operative A. Shepard: Having been in [CLASSIFIED] for so long, and military unit [CLASSIFIED] before that, it’s been a long time since A. Shepard has had meaningful relationships outside of military personnel and even longer since she’s had a real friendship. She’s socially stunted, but generally always means well and is able to form close bonds with her teammates.
“Do you ever wonder about fate? Maybe I was put here for a reason. Maybe that wormhole opened up because the universe knew I had to be here? Or maybe it was chance. Maybe in another universe someone else is Commander of the Normandy and she saves the galaxy. I complete my orbit around the Earth and go home. You fall in love with someone else. I die thousands of years before you live and we never exist in the same time.”
"My dad always said that smoking was bad for you and would lead to an early death. He never said anything about the bigger threats to my life, like caring about people who leave or giant irradiated assholes with mini-nukes. Turns out I can survive all three no problem.”
