Prompt me (footie RPF)

Ya girl got tiiiiime, and I want to see if I can still write. In English. Gimmie AUs, or current canon. Any pairings, (a caveat, I can swing PL and some LaLiga. for Bundesliga and Serie A you will have to help me out with articles or video).

Some ground rules tho:

The stories will be short, cause I don't got the tiiime for more. I tend to do stories between 1-5k words. I don't do porn b/c i am not that great at it.

No underage prompts unless it's gen.

The prompt CAN'T be no longer than two sentences/two stanzas long. Any longer, y'all can write your own. Note: you can give me background to the prompts as detailed as you want to, but the prompt itself must be two sentences/stanzas at the most.

The stories will be posted on ao3, not Tumblr.

Six Sentence Sunday

Since a few people were confused in the tags on this post I thought I’d explain.

Six Sentence Sunday is a writing thing where, on Sunday, you post six sentences from an unfinished work. It can be a new fic, a new chapter of a WIP, or even something you’re not sure you’ll ever post. 

Choose an excerpt from any section (and it doesn’t have to be six sentences) and post it, letting people know what it belongs to or indicating that it’s something you’re working on. 

People get a preview of what’s coming. You get some feedback on what’s there. If they like it, you might get some reblogs that will generate more interest in your story or you as a writer.

okay, so i’m new to this whole podfic scene, i’ve listened to a million and one and it’s my dream to get into podficcing. the problem is, i’m a minor, and i don’t know if anyone’ll fic with me and show me the ropes? so, if you’re interested, hit me up! and i’ll give you my discord. my ao3 is canarywest!

Hmmm. You’re better off looking for writers who have blanket permissions on their profiles over in AO3. Also if you want to know the ropes, this is a very comprehensive post on podfic (how to get into it, how to host your work, etc). I found it to be a steep learning curve at first, but there are tons of videos on Youtube (especially if you’re using Audacity) for how tos.

To repod or not to repod?

That is the question.

Like, I don’t have time, and I’m in the middle of moving (again!*), but when I get a minute (and a better microphone), I really want to repod Cloud City (a Spanish NT fanfic AU with that lot being magical dectives). The edits really annoy me, and I think the fanfic deserves it.

But again, I don’t have the time or the microphone. When I do though, I promise myself I’m going to get it done. The other podfics I’m pretty ehh about, because of growing pains and such. But I really liked Cloud City. Or probably, if I wait long enough, someone can repod it.

The thing is, podficcing takes a lot of time - in terms of setting up, reading, editing, etc. - that once you’re done with a fic, you’re done. You really sit and live with it in a way that I don’t with writing. But with Cloud City, I’m like... “Jeez, Jazz, you were almostthere and could have done it better.”

*Yes. Again. On one hand, circumstance is forcing me to see places where I wouldn’t have gone before. But on the other hand... it means that you’re always in flight mode. But shout out to Marie Kondo and her minimalism, it’s made my packing easier.

it’s been a minute

Like, I haven’t watched football in a minute, haven’t written fanfic in a minute (save for itsadrizzit’s birthday, but that was in the works for a while) and due to the menagerie I’m in the middle of, I can’t podfic (let’s put it this way, a cat just... got sick on my bedsheets the other day).

In addition to that, my brain is just like... being subsumed by my aquired language, and sometimes, when I’m tired, the edges of my English fade into German speak, and my SO swears that my accent has changed slightly.

That being said, I’m hoping to do WIP week later this month? Life is rather complicated at the minute, but I really want to finish this story I’m doing (the Sernando one, as if it’s 2010 again). At times, I do sit back and am thrilled with what I’ve written, and other times, I poke at the prose and wonder what the hell I was thinking! Sometimes, I think it’s 80 done, and for other days, I fear it’s nearer to 60.

Never mind. The story will be finished, and posted. I do miss podficcing (although, LBR, I miss the editing and listening through over say, the reading, although that’s nice as well).

A challenge for the new year

Here’s a challenge for you.

Last year, I surprised myself by writing a 50k fanfic. Football rpf, sure, but considering it was supposed to be 21 k at the most, I almost threw in the towel when I got to 21k only to realise that the fic wasn’t even half done. *manic laughter*

In addition, I expanded out of my OTPs, by writing for other characters and teams that I wouldn’t normally write for, but such is the power of prompt memes, it gives you an excuse to do things outside of your wheelhouse.

Despite a lot of drama and storms IRL I actually wrote fic that I’m satisfied with, and even ventured out into fluffy and cute territory (which... isn’t me) and said fics were warmly recieved in the spirit meant.

Writelr plans for the current year? Erm... I will write a short story in my favoured pairing in my target language. I will finish this Spanish magical realism AU (Torres/Ramos - as if it’s 2010 again, oh boy) and post. At times, I love the story, and am surprised by the ambition of it, and other times I shrink from it, wondering if it’s too ornate (well, it seems ornate to me).

But real life is in flux at the minute, so that mightn’t happen until the days are longer and calmer. But I will definitely do a short story in my target language, even if it’s just for me to read it, tbh.
