he would not fucking say that, but with disability.. he would not fucking be able bodied. sick n tired of characters walking away from multiple life changing injuries without a scratch. let’s get some natural consequences in here.

give that knife/sword fight survivor nerve damage. give the character who was shot in the gut a stoma. give that fire survivor lung damage and an oxygen cannula. give that leg injury survivor a cane. give that starvation survivor gastroparesis. give that spinal injury survivor a manual chair or powerchair.

while we’re at it, give your characters congenital disabilities too, just because. give them intellectual and development disabilities. give them acquired and postviral illnesses. dare to make somebody bedbound. for me.

could i ask for directors commentary on friend rocky, friend grace?

Ohh yes! so the story for this I had this idea for aplatonic grace and I wrote three separate scenes trying to explore that and it just wasn't working, it didn't feel natural, despite liking the headcannon. I had a few ideas I thought were fun and interesting, but I couldn't get them to work into a story or anything. I gave up on the idea, until like, literally 1 day before @aplatonics-assemble and I had finished my main fic for the event, and I was doing a writing sprint that night and I was thinking about my own aplspike identity and thinking about other demiplatonicisms, and that story really clicked into place once I opened up the idea of demiplatonic. I wrote, and edited it in under 24 hours which is not something I've ever done before, and it turned out really popular, I'm glad so many people enjoyed a last minute fic like that.

This was an unskippable fic idea that I wrote while I had an extreme amount of downtime at work Friday. It's got some fluff and light angst. It's aplatonic teen Dean. Sam's ten and Dean's roughly fourteen. I wasn't sure I was posting this for the Aplatonics Assemble event, but it's still open so why not?

Well, I think that's an event! The collection stays open until Monday, May 11, so if anyone has late additions, there is still time.

We had 31 different works from 10 people! 18 fanfics, 12 photo edits/icon sets, and 1 piece of fan art! That's so many!

And hopefully with the word of mouth from this year, we'll have even more people participating. I'm also planning on doing a secret surprise something in November for the halfway point in between now and next Apl Awareness Day, so keep your eyes out for that.

Dean didn’t get it. He didn’t see why he wasn’t enough for Sam. If you asked Dean, family were the only people who were worth squat. But Sam always wanted more.

Section one below the cut:

When they were kids, all Sam ever wanted to do was make friends. It didn't matter if it was summer, when they moved every three days, or that time that Dad quit hunting altogether and they stayed in the same town for three whole months—Sam was always looking for someone. After a week at any given school, Dean would find Sam with his head buried under the covers, crying about how nobody liked him.

Dean didn't get it. Making friends was easy. Every kid thought he was cool—he had a buzzcut and scars and his dad let him have his own gun (even if Dean always lied and said it was a BB gun). That meant all the boys wanted him to sit with them at lunch, and that was the only thing friends were useful for, anyway. Hell, more often than not, some kid would start following him around and declare himself Dean’s best friend. Those kids were like leeches—damn near impossible to shake off. After a certain point, Dean stopped trying. It was easier to just tolerate them until they moved to the next town.

Sure, friends were useful. Sam wasn't in Sam’s grade, and Dad obviously couldn’t go to school with him, so without friends, no one would laugh at his jokes. He couldn't play four square or kickball by himself, either. And while Dean never had one, even he knew that a birthday party with no guests was just sad. It wasn’t like Dean never wanted to hang out with other people. It was just that when no one at a new school wanted to talk to him, he enjoyed the break. Other kids had a place, but he also wished that sometimes, they'd leave him the hell alone.

Sam didn’t think the same way. He always searched for new friends, and he threw a tantrum every time he had to leave. By the time Sam was nine, Dean hoped Sam wouldn’t get along with anyone, and he could skip the headache. Dean didn't get all the fuss. No one was ever interesting enough for Dean to miss when it was time to move on.

Sam never got past the whole friend thing, though. When he got older, he even tried to keep in touch with them. One girl was pen pals with Sam for nearly a year before the letters stopped. But most of the time, it was doomed. Kids gave out their phone numbers, and Sam could only manage a call or two in before Dad got pissed about him racking up a bill. In Dean’s opinion, that was for the best. Other kids didn’t get Sam, anyway. Not really. The only person who could ever understand Sam’s life was Dean.

“Oh. Uh-I just-I thought that this was going to be a mutual thing,” she says, gesturing her gun to the other lying on the floor. “Nah, nah. Go on, do it,” I say, shaking my head. Clearly she’s not understanding the whole concept of betraying someone. But, for someone like her, I guess that makes sense. I bet she never had to betray anyone before in her life. “...I-I don’t…really want to.” Her voice is quiet now, less joyful. I don’t understand why though. She enjoyed killing the others, so why can’t she enjoy killing me? It’s not like it is any different.
