Ever since you left I’ve been rediscovering everything i forgot about me

I like to spend less time on my phone and more time figuring out my dreams

I’m a sucker for picking flowers and pointing out pretty trees

I hate frozen yogurt but love a big cup of ice cream

I’m a little bit scared of birds but am always chasing bees

I write cheesy poems for fun and sad doesn’t have to be the theme

So thank you for leaving and reminding me how much i missed just being me.

They bumped into each other by a few random chances

He thought she was cute, she thought he was handsome

Now he watches and laughs while she twirls and dances,

Thanking God for what they once called unforeseen circumstances.

Love is not just a notification on your phone

It’s not just having someone beside you so you don’t feel alone

It doesn’t require you taking off your clothes

No, dear, love never forces you to be exposed

Love is not having to give yourself away

It is not having your phone on you 24 hours a day

It is most certainly not some sort of guessing game

And it should never, ever, leave you full of shame

But love is this, that it does not seek after selfish gain

It’s not complex, he shouldn’t have to explain

His actions should scream it, not just his words

No, honey, love should not constantly hurt.

Jesus Redeems

Piercing through my armor

Cutting through my shame

Grasping onto my hand

Plucking me from the flames.

Flurries fluttering through the air

Sticking to and melting in her messy hair

She tilts her head back and smiles at the sky

Spinning around arms stretched wide

Not a worry in the world

Just a girl dancing through the winter cold.

The sky cried out in pain

Her tears dropped down in rain

She couldn’t breathe, her chest was tightening

She lit up the sky with her lightning

The winter was long and she was missing Summer

She called out to him through songs of thunder

He heard her cries and felt her shudder

So he sent her a sign, an arc of color.

What it’s like missing you.

That feeling at night when you lay there with your arms wrapped around your favorite pillow and you slowly drift off to sleep all content without a care in the world, but all of a sudden it’s 4 am and you’re wide awake digging under all your blankets because your pillow isn’t between your arms anymore but it’s nowhere to be found and it drives you crazy because all you want to do is bury your face in that pillow and fall back asleep but you can’t because you realized that your favorite pillow somehow slipped out of your arms while you were asleep. Now you’re just here not knowing what to do with your empty arms.

It breaks my heart to see you move further and further away from everything I hoped you would become.

I wanted you to beg me to stay

I wanted you to cry out for me

To show me you loved me as bad as I loved you

But no,

You handed me my bags and walked me to the door.

Rain drops fall they splash they splatter

Down on the ground pieces scatter

Head in the clouds it doesn't matter.

it just hurts,“ she whispered. "what do you mean?” “i mean you’ll give so much of yourself to a person  and they’ll make you genuinely feel as if they’d do the same” she looked at the ground. “ except they don’t, they never do. out of every person I've eve invested myself into, I’m constantly the one who cares a little more”, she says quietly, “and it hurts.

Such a sick thing it is to look back on the girl in your memories laugh and smile as you watch in tears.
