The soil testing equipment on Curiosity makes a buzzing noise and the pitch of the noise changes depending on what part of an experiment Curiosity is performing, this is the way Curiosity sings to itself.

So some of the finest minds currently alive decided to take incredibly expensive important scientific equipment and mess with it until they worked out how to move in just the right way to sing Happy Birthday, then someone made a cake on Curiosity’s birthday and took it into Mission control so that a room full of brilliant scientists and engineers could throw a birthday party for a non-autonomous robot 225 million kilometres away and listen to it sing the first ever song sung on Mars*, which was Happy Birthday.

This isn’t a sad story, this a happy story about the ridiculousness of humans and the way we love things. We built a little robot and called it Curiosity and flung it into the star to go and explore places we can’t get to because it’s name is in our nature and then just because we could, we taught it how to sing.

That’s not sad, that’s awesome.

*this is different from the first song ever played on mars (Reach For The Stars by Will.I.Am) which happened the year before, singing is different from playing

In a previous post, I had discussed a post that said Tubi was removing more cartoons off their platform on August 31. I would like to add something:

With cartoons being erased off of platforms in the snap of a finger, what are we gonna raise kids on now? Without cartoons, all they’re gonna do is continue scrolling through Youtube & Tik Tok like a large majority of kids do unfortunately. I can’t imagine a world without cartoons because without them, not only will kids not be getting genuine content anymore, but cartoons teach important life lessons. There are so many with the lesson about being yourself and having perseverance when faced with a challenge. Not only that, but there are characters written with real issues that people tend to have in their lives. Whether it’s a disability, condition, or a mental health problem, these characters are carefully written to be relatable and meaningful. I hate it when people water cartoons down to just “Looney Tunes” and “Tom & Jerry” ‘cause I can assure you it’s not just violence for eleven minutes. And even then, the violence in those cartoons were exaggerated and meant to be something to laugh off and not think twice about.

And not only that, cartoons can be inspiration for our future artists. I grew up with cartoons, and that’s why I wanted to become an artist. I started by drawing my favorite characters and eventually moved on to original characters. And then I created comics for them because I wanted to get into storytelling for these characters. And I’m sure a large majority of artists and creators on this app can agree.

If you raise a kid with just the YT slop, they are never going to develop as people and never gain important life skills. All they will know is scrolling and watching AI-generated videos. And that is no way to raise a child. Especially because they are our future, and if this is what we’re already doing to them, we are in danger. HUGE danger.

So if you have a love for cartoons, keep supporting them! In this age of physical media fading into obscurity and cartoons being removed from streaming services in favor of slop no ones cares for, cartoonists, artists, writers, designers, and all those creatives need our help more than ever! I really hope the world will wake up one day and realize that the world is going left…

The way Freddie Moore drew Mickey Mouse back in the old cartoons is probably one of my favorite ways he's ever been drawn.

Moore was actually the guy who gave him that Caucasian-flesh tone face and a more volumetric body.

He did a lot of other stuff for Disney, too, but I think I'll always like his work on Mickey the best. 😊

I got Tubi for the sole purpose of watching cartoons like “Cow & Chicken” and “Pinky & The Brain” because no other streaming service is hosting them anywhere. I wish we didn’t live in a world where cartoons aren’t a priority anymore. Because what if someone wants to be a cartoonist? What if someone wants to create their own show and needs inspiration? What if you’re someone like me who loves looking back at the old cartoons for nostalgia trips and wants to relive old memories? These companies aren’t thinking of those people anymore, they care about our money more than anything. It’s a sad world we live in, which is why we need to stock up on DVD’s and physical media in general more than ever so that:

1. If we buy a DVD of a show or movie, that’s the only purchase you make. You never have to pay for it again, and it’s yours to keep forever.

2. If the power goes out, you have something to watch because DVD’s don’t run of Wifi.

3. You have a way of keeping an archive of your favorite TV shows or movies.

It just makes me so angry that we give these services our hard-earned money to not only buy their platform, but their subscriptions just to watch stuff, just for them to be like, “Sorry, this title will be gone in just a few days!” LIKE THANKS PAL NOW I GOTTA SPEND EVEN MORE MONEY ON ANOTHER SERVICE WHEN YOU COULD’VE JUST KEPT IT ON YOUR SERVICE THE WHOLE TIME!! I know there’s a lot of licensing involved, that’s why “Duck Dodgers” wasn’t on Tubi, but that’s not even the reason they’re doing this. Again, it’s all for money. You can’t convince me otherwise.

So folks, if you see a DVD of your favorite show or movie, BUY IT! Even if you don’t have a DVD player yet, it’s good to have a copy of the show/movie in case a company wants to erase it from their catalogues! That goes for video games too ‘cause I also heard that many companies are making them digital now. Physical media is so important now.
