Hi. My name is Mary. I’m 32 years old. I’m a folk witch and I decided to come back to tumblr, as I just really love the vibes of this space. You will find me using tags such as Catholic Witch & Catholic Witchcraft. But I feel it’s important to note that I do not belong to any church. My family/most recent ancestors were Catholic. My mom was raised Catholic. But she did not raise me within the church.
Through ancestor veneration I found myself drawn to the Holy Mother. And while I tried to ignore this draw to her, she won. 🥰 I couldn’t stop seeing her on tv/hearing her name through passing conversations, on the radio, etc. I started researching her and from there I learned how to pray the rosary, started praying novenas as a part of my practice and using Psalms within my spells. I started learning about the Saints & Angels and also learning about Appalachian Folk Magic (as I was born and raised and still reside in Appalachia).
With all of that said, it’s important that I mention that I am an Omnist & my view on divinity is sometimes hard for me to explain.. I believe in a great divinity/God/Source. But I also believe in all of the Gods & Goddesses. I believe they’re all facets of the main divinity, which is like a diamond. I believe we all experience that divinity in our own way. I also believe a lot has been syncretized over time, allowing for certain practices to continue (such as the divine feminine through Mother Mary, folk practices, cultural traditions, etc). I don’t have all of the answers & while I continue to learn and research, I’m okay with not having all of the answers. Divinity is a mystery & I’m all in. ✨
I’m not here as a teacher or an expert. I’m just sharing my own personal experiences with divinity, practicing folk Witchcraft, spirituality, folk traditions, etc. 🙏
