Eve
i wish it was socially acceptable to walk up to a lone stranger in public and ask "are you okay with talking about apples right now" and then they'd say "of course" and i would say "if you could have one large apple or one small apple which one would you choose" and they would say "large apple" and i would say "of course you would say that." and then we would become ready to risk it all
first and foremost my problem with bridgerton is the sheer number of contemporary apples. pink ladies and presumably honeycrisp cultivars as far as the eye can see

d’arcy spice
ancient little English apple from 1785. A bit pippin/crablike, and supposedly spiced.
sweetness: 4/10
crispness: 6/10
Narrative significance: 6/10
essence: 8/10
heaven is a place on earth and it’s the co-op worker who knew all about English apples and gave me infinite samples (i tried ananas reinette, scott’s winter, and ashmead’s kernel which is apparently prominently featured in a book i now have to read). she, too, appreciated the nonsensical and joyful art of apple tasting.
I think i liked the ananas best even though its skin was a bit thick!!
“what’s the worst fruit” i hope you fucking die im strangling you what the hell is wrong with you. ‘the worst fruit’… has god not made all of these fruits in the same light???? cunt
Red Delicious Apples
Opal
I never thought a relation of the golden delicious would ever bring me solace on a cold and lonesome Tuesday, but sometimes a yellow apple simply beckons from the grocery shelf, waxy and bright like the extracted bulb of a freshly polished traffic light. The Opal is trademarked and snack-worthy, albeit texturally unremarkable. This was the first apple I carried around like an accessory, mostly because it is visually uncanny for a fruit — certainly brighter than a pear and smoother than a lemon. Closest to a squash, if anything.
sweetness: 8/10
crispness: 6/10
narrative significance: 3/10
