The softest girl you’ve ever seen
Guys. I found an even older draft. HOLY, I was a depressed kid.
He watched Dean and Seamus building something together in the dormitory, regularly blowing up their own beds. He watched Hannah walk around happily, looking at her engagement ring. He watched Malfoy sitting in the library beside some Ravenclaw girl over an advanced potions project.
And he himself stood by the shore of the Black Lake and looked, and looked, and looked at the dark cold water and did nothing.
And nothing happened.
You know the bloodymary fic is good when the sparsely mentioned red tendrils are SPREADING THROUGH THE HAIL MARY, GRACE WHY ARE YOU NOT PANICKING
It's giving me anxiety but it's so well written I try not to freak out. IT'S NOT WORKING

Does Simon know what puns are, question?
⚠️TW: GORE on panel 3!!⚠️ Anyways—WHO ORDERED SOME ANGST!
This is painful, I love it
Haha! Didn’t think that one through.
<-Part 19 & 20
(Start from the beginning)
Well, you do need all hands on deck to stand up, don't you?
every time a fic author writes Simon as inherently violent and angry an angel dies in the blood ocean
Has anyone written or made art for a Project Hail Mary x Star War cross over? I feel like there’s untapped potential here yall. I wanna see Grace and Luke Skywalker interactions immediately.
Me too, buddy. Me too
Iron Lung x PHM x Star Wars crossover idea
The Eridians reverse engineer Hail Mary and build a big ship. Rocky, Grace, Adrian and some more volunteers go on a mission to save more stars from Astrophage. On their way they find Simon and one day they all end up in the Galaxy far far away.
Guys, at this point we can count Iron Lung and PHM as one fandom
Me watching an old Markiplier interview:
Mark: I dropped out two semesters away from graduating and I was a biomedical engineering student and-
Me: W- What?! *googles what's that* WHOAAAAAA, that's so coooool

SAME THING GUYS BLOODYMARY MUST MAKE IT TO THE FINALS
They decided to torture me. I don't have any other explanation. How am I supposed to choose?!?!?!
I commented this on someone else's tiktok video but I need to elaborate on my thoughts here so bear with me.
I really really like the idea of Adrian being the one to find Simon like, a decent chunk of time before Grace and Rocky return, and him and Adrian having their own deep and complex relationship outside of Grace and Rocky. Then by that point when Grace arrives sick and starving, Simon has to be the one to act as caregiver and learning to be gentle in that way, not Grace babying a PTSD riddled Cult-raised Soldier.
Because yeah, all the fics seem to have the same mentality of, Grace has finished his journey/character arc, so all he needs to do now is nurse this sweet owo baby back to health and show him the stars and everything will be alright.
Give Simon some agency! Let him be the one to care for Grace for once, especially when there's nothing immediately benefiting him to do so, (EI, he's not already in love with Grace, or feels he owes Grace anything for caring him before, or because he worships him as an Angel) he's simply doing it out of good faith.
This starved to the point of looking skeletal man named Grace apparently helped save Adrian's husband, and the whole planet of Erid? That's all well and good but its not like the Eridians have an unlimited supply of human food or oxygen. This man might not get better and even then, until he does, he's a drain of resources. All of his life experiences and training tell him its better just to end the poor man's suffering now and lay him to rot.
But he won't do that.
He'd begged Adrian to end his own suffering months ago, back when the worst of his wounds where still in the new stages healing and he couldn't see the end of his pain.
It was thanks to Adrian kind stone-like claw that Simon had healed as well and he had. It was thanks to Adrian that Simon had some place to call home, something he hadn't had since his Mother had been culled all those years ago.
Adrian of course had told him all about their mate, a brave and smart engineer who'd gone to space decades ago on a mission to try and save the stars.
Rocky had returned, not only with a solution to save the star, but a Human man of his own that needed caring for immediately. Though not nearly in the same ways Simon had needed help when he'd first arrived. There had been a lot of trail of error with his treatment early on.
This man, Grace, was on deaths doorstep, and it was up to Simon, Adrian and the small team of Eridians who'd helped Simon live comfortably on Erid to save him.
Of course it was mostly Simon who had to do the bulk of the manual work, seeing as the Eridians couldn't comfortably enter their oxygenated spaces, specifically made for Simon, but quickly being adapted and modified based on what Rocky could share about Graces preferences. He couldn't say he LOVED the idea of a large body of water, some would call an ocean, being added to his not-so-little-anymore biosome, but apparently Rocky had been adamant about it though. So Simon only asked that Adrian expand the green house area and add a crop field on the opposite side of the dome for him as compensation.
Adrian agreed, but reminded him that if he needed anything else he just needed to ask, no compensation required.
That was still a hard lesson for Simon to unlearn from Eden and the COI, but Adrian hadn't lied to him yet so he was doing his best to believe them.
He's really pretty sure he's not gonna like this Grace guy once he regains consciousness though, if only because every human aside from his mom has lied to him or manipulated him at some point in his life, but he's starting to get the impression Eridians can't lie at all.
So basically even when Grace wakes up and is super excited to have a human friend on Erid, Simon is basically ignoring him in favour of either working with the Eridians to test more human food varieties/develop botanical life in the dome, hanging out with Adrian, or any other eridian at that point.
Simon be like 😒😠 rocks over jocks! Fuck off! 🖕
And Grace is like 😢 even 50 light years away from earth im socially award and can't make friends 😭
The amount of people thinking that one full night of sleep after even one day of bad sleep is enough is astounding. Guys. You need a WEEK to compensate for that one say you didn't sleep well. I AM NOT JOKING SLEEP SCHEDULE IS IMPORTANT
What's the alternative? We make gravity.
I feel like this is Grace instantly mentally transporting into teacher mode. He's busted this fact out in class and the students always lose it and there's a lot of discussion afterwards and a big fat successful class
...and before he can stop himself his brain is like OH CENTRIFUGE BUTTER STORY TIME and halfway through he's like "shit...."
Because he rememembers that this isn't fun preteen story hour these are doctors and scientists trying to save the fucking world.
I bet the other scientists would react the same given the chance
I think that we need more differences between Grace and Simon. I know that most of the particularities that we usually linked to all the religious aspect that Simon seem to have grow with, but there must be things besides that by the simple logic that they grew in two different environments, there most be cultural or social rules that they just don't know they are following.
Some examples I could thought:
Eye contact: Grace could have grew thinking that keeping eye contact while you speak to someone is a way to show you are listening to them. Simon could have grew associating eye contact with a way of intimidation. This could lead to A) Simon keeping prolongued eye contact in a effort to intimidate Grace who believes they are in the same page or B) Simon thinking Grace wants to intimidate him so he avoids meeting his eyes as a show of respect making Grace assume things.
Personal space: Personal space can vary a lot depending where you come from, and even when I find funny the idea of Grace been all over Simon, I believe that Simon would be the more clingy one. My reasoning is that Simon grew up in a cult in which everyone looked at each other as brothers and sisters, and lived in a space station meaning that there would not be as much space as in Earth, that led me to believe that people in Eden just didn't have a lot of personal space. Simon would be jumping at the start, but after a while he would be all over Grace.
Eating: Grace would, as we see in the book and movie, feel comfortable eating in front of other people, maybe even thinking that eating with someone is better that eating alone, while Simon could think that eating is a private thing to do, because food was something very precious in Eden and you were suppose to eat it by yourself in a safe space so no one could steal it from you. Simon when he realizes that Grace would actively eat in front of him doesn't know how to take it, maybe he thinks that Grace trust in him not stealing his food, maybe Grace is making a power move, maybe he is just an idiot.
Speaking: The people in Eden could have seen speaking as something reserve for when you have really important to say, or you needed to be very clear, maybe they spoke more through their action, because speaking can get your thirsty and water is a resource they can't just throw away in Eden. Simon been in shock by seeing how much Grace is able to speak. Grace and Simon having misunderstandings because Simon speaks through actions that Grace just doesn't get it completely
Extra:
I also think it would be funny to see this differences been notice byt the eridians. If Simon gets to be part of the Hail Mary crew, Rocky would be really confuse to see that the humans can't even agree in what humans do.
If this is the AU in which Rocky meets Grace in space, but Simon arrives to Erid and meets Adrian first the scientific community would just be panicking because the things that the data they have of humans keeps contradicting itself.
This post is mainly ramblings on world building and headcanons.
I do think Simon would be weird about sharing food and water in a Tatooine slave culture way. Those who went down that same rabbit hole in fic reading might understand what I mean but I'll still elaborate.
It could go several directions from here. The op already said that eating could be a private matter so no one steals your food. It could also be communal so everyone saw that no one had more than they needed amd the community survived. I personally prefer the private eating for Simon because I adore culture clashes in fiction. (Blame Hobbit for that)
Next, sharing food could mean significant trust or an offer to "share life" (read marriage, becoming brothers/sisters/siblings/so on). Same for consuming water.
Now on SHOWERS because it could be a thing. Washing yourself from a bucket is more economical than taking a shower and much more economical than taking a Bath™. Just imagine Simon on Erid taking a bath for the first time. Now that I think of it, could they have sand washing in Iron Lung? Since water is too precious?
So I'm assuming any gestures of help and care could be seen as either a power play (I'm cooler than you since I can afford to help you) or they all just have their love language set to acts of service or whatever it's called in English.
Appearance. What is that harness thing, question.
I also personally disagree with the thing where Simon calls Grace angel. I think he wouldn't. Especially if he'll be going away from a death cult headspace and angel is a bit too close to home. It's a good pet name, I'm not arguing. But I think in the long run Simon wouldn't use that.
I don't understand the hate on Stratt and never will
