Does becoming a champion of a daedra necessarily mean that you've sold your soul to them and you have to serve them/stuck with them in the afterlife? Because going off of Skyrim, the Dragonborn has to do so for Nocturnal, Mora, and Hircine (if a werewolf). But like for Meridia, she seems to just want you to wield Dawnbreaker and kill some undead
I actually wrote a fanfic about this exact thing.
Basically, since most mortals don’t serve more than one daedra directly, it’s likely normally the case that if you’re their champion, you go to their plane of Oblivion. If you became champion of say, two daedra, if the person isn’t that important or likely to cause a fight between the two, it probably defaults to either a) who they served first or b) who they served longest.
In the case of hte Dragonborn, we have a very interesting mortal that many daedra would like the bragging rights to. If the DB is a Nightingale, a Werewolf, and has completed the Dragonborn DLC, then Nocturnal, Hircine and Mora have the highest claim in my opinion because the DB is more than just a champion. They’ve sold their soul to each of them, more or less (if this takes place after Dawnguard and the DB is a vampire, replace Hircine with Molag Bal).
Now there isn’t an wasy way for this to be settled. I personally believe that Mora would likely get the DB, should their soul be sent to Oblivion, simply because he’d put up the biggest fight for it or steal their soul before anyone else got the chance. Nocturnal is a real contender though because she’s smart and tricky. Hircine I believe is least likely to succeed. I just feel like the other two have more tricks up their sleeve.
Still, outside of these three, others will probably want to stake their claim as well, and from there it comes down to the personality of the individual daedra. Sheogorath, Sanguine, Clavicus Vile and a few others seem like they don’t really intend to claim the DB. It’s much more like they’ve gifted a mortal with their artifact for one reason or another, but they don’t outright call them Champion or anything of the sort. So when it comes to making claims, they likely aren’t invested in actually trying to take the DB.
Anyway, sorry for the literal novel of a response! Hope this helped to answer your question.
