I don't hold out much genuine hope for this because, y'know, feudalism, but wouldn't it be funny if Otto and/or Harondus Einfasen managed just enough self-restraint to not smash in Primus Tachonis's head with a hammer in the middle of a meeting when first learning he was a filthy oathbreaker but like... really wanted to. Imagine how cool it would be later if an Einfasen, at the climax of a very grim-looking "mwa ha ha now the Sundered Houses will kill you all" moment, some crucial Tachonis's skull explodes and there's an Einfasen standing behind them with a gore-spattered Giant-sized hammer, all "withholding the desire to do that since the moment their treachery was revealed has been extremely difficult and I am glad the necessity for restraint has passed."

I'm sorry I didn't see the vision before Aabria, but Otto Einfasen absolutely airing all of Primus Tachonis' dirty laundry in that conference room and calling him a bitch ass liar is one of the hottest things I've ever seen. Otto Einfasen is such an interesting character, because I think he's there to maintain a balance with the sundered houses presentation and evil. The Tachonis are evil and are not afraid to present as such, they want domination, despise all commoners and don't mind all knowing. Halovar know they are evil, they know they have the same goals as Tachonis, but they know that hiding and giving a lie to vulnerable people will give them an edge.

The Einfasen meanwhile seem to believe not that they are good but at least that they are fair, they are doing the right thing and just taking what they deserve in life. Otto Einfassen was so outraged at the lying, at killing Octis. He at least seemed to feel something about killing the Royce so mercilessly, and the interactions with them in the seekers arc were not entirely negative (they did liberate the Royce soldiers did they not?).

With that said I think Harondus Einfassen is the key to their philosophy. His introduction is so clear that he's doing what he's doing in the Revolutionary guard because he thinks it's just simply his due in life. The Einfasen care about justice, it's simply that they believe that they are the best arbiters of justice and the commoners simply do not know it yet.

This is such a fantastic setup for the villains in the campaign, because it's so true to life. It's honest about how the people that move to oppose freedom act in the real world. They are not a monolith. Some of them know what they are doing and will tell you, some of them know and will lie; but most importantly some people genuinely believe that they are good people in the right and the entire world would just be better off if everybody did exactly as they say.

I have been thinking about this since Thursday night. I know they all fucking suck but something about how angry Otto gets at the idea of murdering one of your own family is fascinating to me. The fact that he is ABSOLUTELY willing to do other heinous shit as are all of the Sundered Houses, but the idea of murdering one of his sons to turn him into an a murderous tool is sickening to Otto and that is so fascinating to me

In CR Cooldown, they were talking about Occtis' planted signet ring with Primus initially guessing "Einfasen trickery," and then Matt mentioned Ingrid's axe (and other items) that Teor had, now left deep in the Tachonises magical death-basement, and I'm very curious whether that is identifiable as being from the Einfasen. Teor and Julien may have very unintentionally stoked Primus' fears that Einfasen is suddenly going after him with stealth. (And successfully going after him. The dead nama can be assumed to have failed in his specific piece of the mission, but Mara the Wing is gone and Koral was murdered in his room, all without the Tachonises who were home seeing a single intruder.) And if Primus does go further down the path of "Einfasen trickery," that might also help to stoke disagreement between him and Yanessa, since she clearly considers the idea of Einfasen trickery to be delusional.

Callowyn Royce's bracers are also down there on Teor, and those are canonically very recognizable to people who knew Callowyn (Thimble and Julien), so I'm very curious whether Primus knows definitively that his people took the bracers off Callowyn or if this could imply the break-in was backed by a Royce/Einfasen partnership. After all, Otto did clearly say that Aranessa was a guest at his castle and the source for some of his information about Primus' schemes.

Also, good job Wicander for charming the murder twins so thoroughly that they stayed to admire and pitch polygamy to you instead of going home to potentially kill the rest of Team Bird Watch.
