I don’t want to end Amazon, because it provides an incredibly useful service to the disabled community, the elderly, and those who simply don’t have time to go shopping due to working three jobs and the like. There currently isn’t a major alternative on the market that is the same level of cheap and accessible.

What I do want to do is enforce some goddamn antitrust laws on major web-based companies like Amazon and Google and Facebook, and roll back their attempts at monopolizing entire industries, and make them pay their lowest-rung workers a fair wage and stop running their warehouses like a scene from a dystopian nightmare.

They can come off duty or quit their job. I personally wouldnt even want off duty cops at pride because that’s deceptive as fuck AND an abuse of trust. Like what, one day youre at pride and the next day youre in uniform complacent to racist systems? Stopping and frisking brown folk after the Pride parade?? Get the fuck outta here. no cops at pride means NO cops at pride

I think questions like these arise from an underestimation of cops' racism. If someone said "no KKK members at pride" I don't think people would find themselves asking "but what about the gay KKK members 🤔" because I think they would have a more intuitive understanding that we don't actually want pride to be a space inclusive of racist hate groups. It is this imagining of overt KKK and neo-nazis as the only "actual" racists that prevents people from seeing the fact that police forces, both as institutions and the individuals who make them up, are far more ubiquitous, far better funded, and far more societally-respected sources of racist violence. Not to mention that overtly white supremacist organizations often share membership with police departments; they are disproportionately likely to be the same people in different uniforms anyways.

I’m extremely confused by this thread. Like if there’s a gay cop, they’re welcome to go to pride when they’re not working. Doctors are allowed at church when they’re not working. As long as the cops aren’t acting like a cop when they’re off duty, they’re more than welcome. Just like as long as a doctor isn’t spouting “sCieNce sAys...” when they’re at church (synagogue, mosque), they can go. I don’t get this. Stop excluding someone from an already marginalized group (LGBTQ+). If they’re LGBTQ+ they’re allowed at pride.

I suggest you either read the rest of the notes of this post to understand why no cops at pride, even off duty cops, especially gay cops, is necessary for queer liberation. Yet if you still come to the conclusion that we should allow gay cops into spaces that are historically anti cop (because oh, I don't know, cops have historically r*ped, incarcerated, beaten, abused, killed, and traumatized queer/BIPOC communities), maybe keep those opinions to yourself. Doctors do not systemically murder individuals on the streets. Stop making false equivalencies. Pride would never have existed without gatekeeping (keeping cishets and oppressors out and queer people in). A pig with a rainbow patch is still a pig. Sure, they can be at Pride, its not like anyones keeping the door open or closed for them, but whether they will be welcomed? Respected? Nah. I doubt it. They don't deserve that.

There are countless cishets at pride, friends and allies. If we’re keeping our allies and supporters out or not respecting them, we will never survive Everyone needs to be respected as long as they are kind to our community.

Then I suggest you follow your own logic of “everyone needs to be respected as long as they are kind to our community” and you extend that to cops, who, like myself and so many queer people and BIPOC and disabled people have said throughout the decades, have systemically abused, assaulted, murdered, and oppressed our communities. Pride is for ourselves first and foremost, allies are welcome, but that space was never for them in the first. Its like white people in Black spaces, or able bodied folks in disabled spaces. Sometimes you just have to accept that some spaces were never for you, but that doesnt mean you cannot be welcomed and enjoy and learn from those communities.
