“It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this.”
Kakariko Village, a friendly and inclusive Zelda Discord server, is hosting a special contest for artists in the Zelda community!
Design a Link Contest
Imagine you’re put in charge of the next mainline Zelda game!
What would the setting be?
What would the story be like?
How does Link’s design reflect these things?
Describe the setting and story of this new Zelda game using as much detail as possible to immerse us in the game’s world. Then, you’ll draw concept art for Link, explaining how their design fits into the game’s setting and narrative.
The server will vote through a form, where people can rate each other’s designs on a 5 star system based on these criteria. Creativity in setting, story and character design is the most important part here. Use this as an opportunity to bring your dream Zelda game to life!
The submission period will be from August 30th to October 27th in the contest channel of the Kakariko Village server. After the submission period is over, the voting period will be from October 28th to November 4th, after which winners will be decided. Participants can vote, but not for their own entries. Only members of the Kakariko Village Discord server are allowed to vote.
Prizes for the Design a Link Contest:
1st place - First pick of either Art and Artifacts or Encyclopedia, or a $20 Amazon gift card 2nd place - Art and Artifacts or Encyclopedia, depending on which was chosen, or a $10 Amazon gift card 3rd place - a Zelda-themed gift item or free icon from tomearts
Join Kakariko Village and our small, but growing community of Zelda fans! Let’s celebrate the series we all love together- just click the link below to join the server.

got over initial embarrassment so
here you go
unpopular opinion maybe but I think purity culture and cancel culture have gone too far, and they’ve started to become so ugly and toxic. let’s bring back critical thinking, patience with others, and opportunity for growth
Okay. Holy fuck. This post blew up – on a sideblog where I had, I shit you not, only two followers when I posted this – so I’d like to clarify what I meant when I made this post.
Great question!
1) I am NOT saying we support murderers, rapists, and abusers; people who decide to commit crimes such as those do not deserve our support, and that’s fine.
2) I am also NOT saying we let creators/celebrities/influencers etc say and do racist/homophobic/transphobic etc things and get away with it.
3) I am NOT saying we go back to the “good ol’ days” where openly being racist, for example, was acceptable. I don’t want that. If you reblogged this post thinking “god, yes, I want to say bigoted things again without sjws attacking me for it” tough luck buddy, but this post ain’t supporting that or you.
This post is actually directed to activist communities, particularly online ones. This criticism is coming from someone who is a part of those activist communities because I think it’s time we have an intra-community discussion about how we react to problematic events.
So say a celebrity does something problematic. Let’s use a real-world example, okay? A while ago, Terry Crews came under fire for saying people needed paternal and maternal love “no matter where you get that [from].”
People immediately jumped on him for implying that children of single parents or same-sex parents were lacking, that he was being homophobic, that he’d blown it, that he was cancelled and could no longer be a role model despite his past activism and support of various good causes, and that was that.
From 0 to 100 real quick. From a valid criticism sprouting from his miscommunication and his audience’s misunderstanding – to saying his role as an activist was forever over.
Do you understand how toxic that is? People – even our ALLIES – cannot make a single mistake, not say a single thing out of line without being dragged forth and humiliated and “cancelled.”
We as activists cannot, CANNOT, demand perfection. We ourselves are NOT perfect, we ourselves have done and said problematic things in the past and so we cannot demand absolute perfection from others.
Our response to problematic things and people has to change.
How should we change?
We should educate. When someone, ally or enemy, does something problematic, instead of dragging them or cancelling them or making fun of them we should politely educate them on why what they did is wrong. More often than not? They’ll understand and apologize!
Always assume ignorance on their part instead of malice, because actual malice in the world is rare, while simple ignorance is widespread.
If we come at them and attack them? Very likely they will double down on their position and refuse to change, because of the toxicity of the response they got from this movement. And they won’t learn and grow from this experience and will likely dig themselves deeper in this hole.
We have to be more patient with others. I know it is tiring and frustrating and exhausting to deal with problematic attitudes and comments, which often come in the form of microaggressions, but we have to rise above our initial instinct to lash out and attack if we want any lasting positive social change to be made.
Because we don’t want a society where people are afraid to speak their minds, do we? We don’t want a society where people are afraid they’ll say the wrong thing and be excommunicated from a group forever, do we? We don’t want a fucking authoritarian Twitter regime, do we, where the slightest misstep kicks you to the cub for good?
I know I don’t. I want a society free of prejudices and bigotry, but one that is patient and understanding when people make mistakes. Even when their mistakes cause momentary harm, because it’s going to happen and it sucks, but it’s a part of the process.
Bottom line is: if you do not become a more patient, compassionate, and understanding person, you are going to alienate your allies. You are going to drive away more and more people from this movement because of how toxic the response to even the smallest of mistakes is. Nobody’s going to WANT to be a part of that movement, and for good reason.
Embrace patience and empathy and education. Destroy cancel culture.
Femme bi women married to men still have stories about queerness to tell that are worth hearing.
i dont wanna discourse on main but please dont call bi women femme
Kiss my ass and then fuck ALL THE WAY off.
Guys I love that you got energy to fight Biphobia, but Bi women have a term for feminine bi women! It’s Doe! So it’d be Does or Doe bisexual women
If people want to use those terms, that’s totally fine. However. Those terms were invented within the last 5 years by some rando on Tumblr who was caving to pressure from lesbian exclusionists. Meanwhile, bisexual women have consistently self-defined as butch and femme for almost a century now.
This isn’t just lesbians saying bisexual women can’t start using a word we’ve never used before; this is them saying that a bisexual woman who’s been monogamously married to another woman since before it was legal has to STOP using an identity she’s had for decades, because sometime around 2014, Tumblr decided these terms were “lesbian-exclusive”.
I invite you to take a look at this history of butch/femme and bisexuals in lesbian communities, and also look at the notes on this post where I’ve asked multi-spec women to weigh in their opinions on using doe/stag/tomcat. (Spoiler: Opinions range from one “I guess they’re okay if they’ll make lesbians stop yelling at us” through “They’re kind of cute but they make no sense and nobody knows what they mean,” to “doe is absolutely not how I feel as a femme,” “Stag and tomcat are both used for hypersexual and predatory straight cis men, so no thanks,” and “I’m a person of colour and do you KNOW how racist it is to describe us as animals?”)
I am not a fucking deer.
Deer are also prey animals, so there’s just … no end to the gross implications here.
Let wlw use “butch” & “femme”
How about the word human being? ~.~
If they’re not letting bisexuals use the word “human being” then someone and I are gonna need to have WORDS.
(Tongue in cheek, I get where you were going at, but if I could Kumbaya this mess I would’ve done it already)
I’m a lesbian, and have no place in this, but I’m imagining telling my biromantic SO that she’s supposed to be using “doe” and just… shivers and not the good kind. Sheesh.
Also, I’m not American so I might be missing something, but don’t queer men *also* use butch and femme?
Predictably, people are throwing around the word “entitled” when it comes to video games again, and the Pokemon fandom was already notorious for telling people to “shut up and be grateful for what you have”.
NO.
It isn’t “entitled” to expect quality for the MONEY YOU ARE SPENDING ON A PRODUCT. It isn’t entitled to expect a product creator to keep up their end of a transaction. Sword and Shield are actually going to cost more money for less content. Players are expected to spend $60 on the game, then pay an extra recurring fee to use the online functionality, which has always been free in past games, and then you are expected to pay recurring for Pokemon Home on top of that if you want to get your Pokemon off of the 3DS before it dies. From Home, the Pokemon have nowhere to go, as the trip from 3DS to Home is one way. You must then keep paying for Home and hope that in the next 2-4 years, the rest of your collection is able to be transferred to the next games. Due to the new GF policy of scrubbing the Pokemon data for each game going forward, that is not promised. Your collection will get splintered across several generations, with Home being the only app where they are confirmed to be all in one place, and the cost is recurring. There is no promise that Sword and Shield have to be compatible with Gen 4 remakes or whatever comes next, so hoarding parts of your collection on a cartridge and hoping for trading to save you isn’t even necessarily viable. And even in the trading scenario, you have to still pay for the Switch Online subscription, so you’re being charged extra either way.
Meanwhile, at E-FUCKING-3, we have been shown pivoting models, like back in Gen 6 on the 3DS. We have been shown that the older Pokemon models were all imported from 3DS and still have their same animations. We have been shown that there are still generic attack animations. We have been shown models popping into existence, some with massive lag. We have been shown lighting errors on terrain and trees. WE HAVE BEEN SHOWN WINGULLS T-POSING, PIVOTING, AND SLIDING ACROSS THE MAP. I AM NOT PAYING $60 FOR THAT. If they couldn’t handle it, they should have delayed the game to make it better, or reduced the price to match what they were able to produce. And if Nintendo was pressuring them into a release this year, then this is their fault, too. There is no excuse for the mess that was shown, and then having the Dex get cut just to even reach that quality. DELAY THIS GAME.
No other game company would be let off with using the same animations and models for over 6 years, gamefreak is not free from criticism
Game companies are well known for rushing out games and overworking workers to do so and we should criticise that harshly
Give your employees more time to work on games, hire more staff, outsource
This isnt some dinky development team Pokemon is one of the biggest game franchises in the world, come on now
(For the record im not mad abt less pokemon im mad abt the games quality still being rushed and models still being from the 3DS)
First kiss! I finished this series of sketches I had in mind. Tried to draw my beloved FatPikachu! He disaproves. You can do better Red, he says with his little eyes glaring daggers at stoopid Blue.
botw2 was announced during pride month, so im bringing back nonbinary butch lesbian link and femme lesbian zelda.
SO! Anext was a blast! got lots of compliments on the ace cape for julia and had fun at the summer alt photoshoot (even if i got a bit crispy afterwards. wear sunscreen yall).
tbh the most fun part of this was the thracia drinking game: the crew would all take a sip if: -an attack missed -an enemy crit -we had to reset/a unit died -bad lv up and we had to pass around the controller every phase
happy pride month!!!
Nintendo can you stop? Like really can you stop? Can you cut it out?
