Claiming autism communication struggles to be an "us vs them" problem and that we actually communicate just fine with other autistic people, dismisses and exludes autistics who actually do have impairments in their ability to communicate and socialise with everyone.

Autism social communication deficits are not an "us vs them" problem for many of us. It is an "I genuinely have struggles communicating with everyone" kind of problem.

Ignoring these struggles in other autistic people because you think it's a "them" problem is genuinely a discriminitory take.

that post that said something like people surviving horrible things aren't probably aren't going to have ways of coping that look "good" to others straight up changed my life.

like if someone's lost in the woods, you don't really expect them to cook a meal that's good & healthy for them, let alone something gourmet. you wouldn't chastise them for scavenging for berries or eating raw meat in the absence of other food sources.

it's less about the behaviors being risky/unhealthy, and more about the situation or environment being unhealthy for the person. simply removing the behaviors doesn't actually change the core issue, and it can even put that person at greater risk of harm to do so.

humans' psychological and social needs are just as important as their physical ones... and blaming people for those needs not being fulfilled is cruel.

I feel like i'm completely out of my mind trying to explain it but. The way lawn has infiltrated the way we picture/think of environments.

The way illustrations show outdoor environments like they're covered with green carpet. I'm playing dwarf fortress and even in densely forested biomes the ground is covered with a turf of grass.

Monoculture consuming the world and our imaginations, not in the sense that the turfgrass outside a building or on the side of the road is a single-species community, but in the sense that the same management and same methods, the same exact machinery and technology, consume thousands of square miles of land, when before there would have been different forces of change, different disturbance regimes, different animals, different human cultures, different management methods...diversity
