if you have played NITW but not read jumalanpelko or if you have read jumalanpelko but have not played NITW then i highly recommend you check both of them out! they are incredible pieces of media that i heavily respect.
mae/suncat's background and character:
ran away as a kit to join with the cats outside of the sun worshippers, gaining the name "Arpi" for her scars. (sometimes "Lyhyt" is a name she can go by aswell)
due to unknown instinct, she returned back to the worshippers claiming she had found their missing god, who had went absent for some unknown reason in the time that Arpi was gone. Arpi became the new suncat from there on out, praised relentlessly for finding "Her" and bringing Her back to them. however, that praise quickly died out as she began to act "un-suncat-like", lashing out, being obnoxious, and continuing in wrestling activities with her former playmate, sunfur. she is always constantly battling and bickering with her guard, always running off to find more trouble and never doing her duties as a suncat. she suffers from "astral dreams" caused by "Her", and "stress induced headaches", as Guard calls them.

gregg - known as/described as a sunfur, wants to be a guard yet can't get into the position
angus - known as/described as bigpaws, would like to get away from the cult but won't go anywhere without sunfur
germ - haven't figured anything out for him honestly. probably an outsider
selmers - known as/described as stubtail, doesnt care much for Her and occassionally interacts with Suncat when there's nobody else around.
lori - known as/described as bigear or tinynose, submissive and anxious, keeps away from Suncat to stay out of trouble but secretly admires her.
mr chazokov - not figured out yet
candy/mae's mom - suncat's mother, known as/described as orange eyes. avid worshipper of Her and desperately wants to get in contact with Suncat, however is afraid she'll get in Her way.
stan/mae's dad - dead probably LMFAO
the goat/the sky cat/the forest god - It
info on things that have changed:
- She has mysteriously disappeared, replaced by It, who currently inhabits the current "sun"cat as a false god who seeks to consume the cult by "eating" their worship. The "sun"cat, however, is starting to loose the others' trust, revere, and worship for being too obnoxious, acting out, etc., thus sparking a conflict in the poor Suncat's mind.
- it is eternally fall instead of spring/summer. the shift happened in a day's time after Suncat arrived. it is also significantly darker in the daytime.
- prey still shows up, however they're almost always already mangled or half-eaten. disease is uncommon but can be contracted from this.
- suncat does not give blessings because she's "too afraid to." there's probably good cause for it.
