2021 be like: I'm thriving. I'm miserable. I am revisiting old hobbies. None of my hobbies are fun. I'm walking a lot. I have a vitamin D deficiency. The pandemic has lasted one month. Chelsea Manning went to jail trying to show people the extend of the atrocities American commits overseas. I watched some of the leaked footage. I think some of the worst of it was a drone bombing of a wedding in Yemen, then a day later America bombed the funeral of those killed at the wedding. Ambulances and first response units (which are protected under international law), were being bombed. People trying to take shelter were being bombed. 

And that’s just drones, which is to say nothing for the numerous illegal black sites America operates around the world. Or the effects of using white phosphorus, which will continue to burn as long as oxygen is present and melts human tissues. That was used in Fallujah, which was a blood-bath from start to finish. 

Which is why I have zero trust in the military, both American and British, because this is just some of the stuff we know about.

One of the best parts of 2020 is the constant feeling that you’re being an over-reacting weirdo but also, impossibly, that at the same time you’re not taking it seriously enough, are taking too many risks, and that you might die or kill your family because of them.

The whole boycott mulan thing makes sense but i wish people had the same energy to boycott movies when theyre not made in china too. Like we know all marvel movies are approved by and recieve financial support from the us military and captain marvel was literally military propaganda. when was all this energy back then. I wonder why the mcu is like 10 years old and most people dont know it was funded by the us military meanwhile mulan came out like 3 days ago and everyones talking about boycotting it. Its almost like people only care when China does it

What’s going to make you happy right now? Is it some cake? Is it a nap? Is it calling your mom? Is it going on a drive and blasting music? Is it taking a bath? Is it reading a book?

Check in with yourself because you deserve that happiness, whatever it is.

I use this with my hospice patients a lot. Because "is there anything I can do to help?" rarely gets a response. But, "I'll be here till 6:30 and would like to do one thing to make your room more comfortable before I head out" frequently does get an answer. Often something they deem "too small to bug anyone with" like closing the blinds so there's no reflection on the tv, or repositioning their socks because the heels have wandered into the front and are uncomfortable, or they want ice cream before dinner today, or getting an extra blanket.

I also use this on myself. What's one thing I could do to make my environment more comfortable right now? Does it cure my mental illness? Hell no! Does it make me feel more in control of my feelings and the world around me? You betcha!
