When I had my heart broken for the first time, my friend told me it was time to build back my castle.
He explained to me that my castle is something everyone is born with.
The foundation of the castle are parts of yourself that you will never lose. An example was for him, it was family, his religion, dance, and friends.
He goes on to say that you are the king/queen of your castle and when you love someone, they become part of that castle. They add on to who you are. And when that someone leaves, you lose a part of your castle.
“So, Y/N, are you going to sit there and cry? Or are you going to build your castle up again?”
And to be honest with you, Peter. I don’t know what to do. You were everything to me. You were a part of me before I we dated because you were my best friend.
I watched you that day, close the door on me and take a part of my castle with you.
I know you did it because you wanted to protect from the dangers of you joining the Avengers.
I know you did to protect me, because you loved me.
But Peter, that wasn’t your call.
I would have rather loved you forever, even if it meant hurting just as much.
I wanted to be there. To hold you when you couldn’t win a battle. To kiss your fears away at night when you didn’t think you could hold the weight of the world on your shoulders anymore. To love you when you needed it the most.
Peter, when you left me you took my castle with you.
You were what I stood for. All the love in the world, the pureness, the innocence.
You made me who I am when you moved in next door to me when we were 4 years old and I saw you walk out with a black suit for your parent’s funeral.
You made me who I am since the day you walked with me to the bus when we were just 5 years old.
You made me who I am when you stood up for me when we were 10.
You made me who I am when I watched you bring justice and protection to the citizens of New York when we were 15.
You made me who I am when you kissed me for the first time when we were 16.
You made me understand pain and love.
And how to stand up for what I believe in.
And how to always be the bigger person.
I know this is what you wanted.
I know this is what you needed to make up for your guilt.
Without you I don’t have a castle.
I can’t build up a castle that’s no longer there.
And so I sat there, and I cried.
