     The accuracy of that statement stung a little. Naturally, he took the bait.

     "I have friends!" And he did; they just were too busy to deal with him eighty percent of the time. Not to mention that they were all in relationships. Well, except Nico, but did he ever really count Nico as a friend? The guy gave Leo the heebee-jeebees and smelled like sulfur.

     You will always be the outsider, Nemesis had told him, the seventh wheel. He really didn't need to be reminded of that fact. So, he shooed his visitor away.

     "Don't let Festus' tail hit you on the way out."

Right because an Athena kid or Hephaestus kid could cast protection or shield charms, which you obviously need since you don’t know how to protect your not-so-secret bunker from people like me who could infiltrate it.

I was just trying to be helpful since I unintentionally interrupted something that is obviously very important to you.

'Well, maybe if Hecate's kids would stop waving their little magic wands and being nosy then I wouldn't have to protect my bunker from anyone!' Leo kept his mouth shut, but threw an arm over his eyes and let out a frustrated groan instead of his well-thought snappy remark.

Why, why, why couldn't he just have some peace? Between teaching new the Hephaestus kids the ropes of camp and rebuilding the Argo II for its next journey, there were very little instances when Leo actually got to work on his own projects, especially one this important. But, it was supposed to be kept a secret because...well, because it just needed to be. Besides, no one cared about what he ever did in camp, so why the sudden interest?

He peeked from under his arm and frowned when he noticed the girl was still there. Rolling up his blueprints, he turned to her and said

     "What's it gonna take for you to bippity-boppity-boo yourself outta here, huh?"

Dave shrugged. The underground place was pretty cool. She’d never seen anything like this before. “I don’t know. Just happened to stumble upon it.” She noticed the boy hide something and walked closer to see if she could see what it was. “Is that a problem?”

     "Other than the fact you aren't supposed to be here at all, then no! No problem at all!" He rolled his blueprints up and grumbled.

"Hey, Fuckface, cut the attitude. I already went to the armory, they didn’t have anything I liked or don’t already have. I want a custom job, and word around camp is that you are the best, hence I’m here.

"Soooooo, just to recap. You have a sentient metal dragon that drinks oil and Tabasco sauce as not only sustenance, but as basically an energy drink. I don’t wanna question it."  He walked over to the dragon, taking the pan and filling it with oil, dropping five drops, winking at the machine, whispering "Hey, it gives you wings,m’friend."

Turning back to Leo, he nodded. “Understandable. Well, that and you know how machines are. You get them all wound up and shit happens.”

He doubted that the other really understood just how badly Festus could get when hyped up on Tabasco sauce, but just nodded and turned back to his work. Leo was hoping that he would leave; the schematics of the astrolabe and the Argo II were laid out in front of him on the work table and he could pratically feel the key to his project in his pocket; a glowing crystal the size of his index finger filled the son of Hephaestus with determination to get this done and finished. Unfortunately, the longer he studied his plans the more frustrated he became. The only way he was going to figure this out was to probably pray to his father again for another clue. It was already embarrassing enough that his father knew what he was up to and constantly teased him for it.

So, he rolled the blue prints up for the night. At least he had gotten some work in, but sooner or later Piper would probably start looking for him and scold him for missing lunch again. A mother that girl was. Jason truly had his hands full and for once, Leo did not feel jealous of the fact.

     "We should probably go." He walked over to Xavier and Festus, petting his bronze nose affectionately           "Dinner should be starting soon, right?"
