The Byler fandom has quickly grown in popularity in response to the final season of the show, and with that came several variants of the ship, each with their own name to distinguish every version of the characters people like to write and discuss. As there is so many variants already created, it can be hard to keep up with it all. This is meant to be an archive of all the Byler variants I can possibly find, with definitions.
I have a disjointed and incomplete version of this archive on my blog, but I wanted to make everything a bit more organized and wanted to massively update after finding over a dozen new variants. If after this is posted, I discover a new variant, I'll simply edit this post to include it and self-reblog it to symbol the update, instead of creating a self-reblog chain like before.
A few of these are (potentially) new variants or new names for existing variants that I'm personally proposing! My variant proposals are highlighted in yellow, and my variant name proposals are highlighted in blue.
Wiseheart/Bravewise: Sometimes used as alternate names for generic Byler, but also sometimes used as alternate names for Cleradin.
Miwi: Specifically refers to Byler from pre-canon to S2.
Zombiefrog: Specifically refers to S2/school Byler.
Lawless Byler: Refers to 18+ Byler content, specifically in a NSFW context.
Willmike: Refers to platonic Will and Mike content, typically in universes where they are shipped with other people.
Evil Byler/Foah/Wolfnapp: Refers to the RPF shipping of Noah Schnapp and Finn Wolfhard. I'm hesitant to include this because, while I don't particularly have a strong stance for or against RPF, I don't like watering down actors to the characters they play. However, because they're often referred to as 'Evil Byler' (affectionately), I want to include them here so people understand the term.
Lesbyler: Refers to genderbent Will/Mike, either by changing their canonical sexes or by headcanoning them as transfeminine.
Hetbyler: Refers to shipping Byler with only one character genderbent, typically Will, either by changing their canonical sexes or headcanoning them as transfeminine.
Nonbyler: Refers to shipping Byler where one or both of them are nonbinary.
NOTE: Any of the variant names listed in this post can be modified to be sapphic, het or diamoric by adding Les-. Het- or Non- to it respectively. I won't be adding Les-, Het- or Non- subvariants, as they're self-explanatory.
Gothbyler: Refers to shipping Goth!Will with Goth!Mike.
Gothwise: Refers to shipping Normie!Will with Goth!Mike.
Gothbrave: Refers to shipping Goth!Will with Normie!Mike.
Punkbyler: Refers to shipping Punk!Will with Punk!Mike.
Punkwise: Refers to shipping Normie!Will with Punk!Mike.
Punkbrave: Refers to shipping Punk!Will with Normie!Mike.
Gothpunk/Punkgoth: Refers to shipping Goth!Will with Punk!Mike, or the reverse.
Cleradin: Refers to shipping Cleric!Will with Paladin!Mike.
Cleradiwi/Miwiseheart: Refers to shipping Miwi Cleradin, or Cleradin as their pre-canon to S2 selves.
Sorcadin: Refers to shipping Sorcerer!Will with Paladin!Mike.
Eyeheart: Refers to Cleradin/Sorcadin, but Will is missing his eye. (I'm not 100% on this definition, but I cannot find any concrete information on this one, so take it with a grain of salt.)
Bravebyers: Refers to shipping Hawkins!Will with Paladin!Mike, typically in universes where Paladin!Mike and Hawkins!Mike exist independently from one another.
Wisewheeler: Refers to shipping Cleric!Will with Paladin!Mike, typically in universes where Cleric!Will and Hawkins!Will exist independently from one another.
Sorcewheeler: Refers to shipping Sorcerer!Will with Hawkins!Mike, a subvariant of Wisewheeler. (I don't actually know if this is a thing already but I can't find anything when I search for it, so I'm assuming the first one to put a name to it at least).
Cheating Byler: Refers to Byler where one or both of them are cheating on their significant other(s) with each other.
Partyler: Refers to Byler if they had gone to Stacey's party instead of playing D&D in the epilogue.
GLB Byler: Refers to Byler in the AU where Mike hears Good Luck, Babe! by Chappell Roan when it's released later in his life and has a severely belated feelings realization.
Hellcali: Refers to shipping Cali!Will with Hellfire!Mike, often depicting S4 Byler in a long-distance relationship. This could also be considered an aesthetic-based variant, but oh well.
Surferscoops/Surfsahoy: Refers to shipping Surfer Boy Pizza employee Will with Scoops Ahoy employee Mike.
Byvideo: Refers to the AU where Byler work at Family Video together.
Unibyler/College Byler: Refers to Byler in college, typically post-epilogue.
Cowbyler/Cowboy Byler: Refers to shipping Cowboy!Will with Cowboy!Mike.
Princeknight: Refers to shipping Prince!Will and Knight!Mike, an AU created by @and-you-said-yes and @hafuckthis.
Sharknilla: Refers to a socmed AU created by inhunnedd on Twitter, shipping YouTuber!Will with Streamer!Mike.
Bylerink/Skatebyler: Refers to shipping Figure Skater Will and Hockey Player Mike.
Rivalbyler/Hollabyler: Refers to Byler in a Hollanov/Heated Rivalry AU.
Webwheeler/Spiderbyler: Refers to shipping Spiderman!Will with MJ!Mike.
Bystucky: Refers to shipping Captain America!Will and Winter Soldier!Mike.
Mazebyler: Refers to Byler in a Newtmas/The Maze Runner AU, typically with Will as the Newt parallel and Mike as the Thomas parallel.
Bravefire: Refers to shipping Byler in a Everlark/Hunger Games AU, typically with Mike as the Katniss parallel and Will as the Peeta parallel.
Goldbyler/Outsiders Byler: Refers to Byler in an Outsiders AU.
Bylerpunk: Refers to Byler in a Cyberpunk 2077 AU.
Cannibyler: Refers to cannibal Byler in some way. I've often seen this in Hannibal and Jackieshauna/Yellowjackets AUs.
OWM Byler: Refers to Byler from the dark parody fan comic One Wheat Mark created by user Truckstoptiger05 on Instagram (now deleted). Has very little connection to canon Byler.
Ghostbyler: Refers to shipping Ghost!Will with Ghost!Mike, usually in AUs were Will died in the UD and Mike died at the quarry.
Ghostwise: Refers to shipping Human!Will with Ghost!Mike.
Ghostbrave: Refers to shipping Ghost!Will with Human!Mike.
Merbyler: Refers to shipping Mer!Will with Mer!Mike.
Merwise: Refers to shipping Human!Will with Mer!Mike.
Merbrave: Refers to shipping Mer!Will with Human!Mike.
Sirenbyler: Refers to shipping Siren!Will with Siren!Mike. Subvariant of Merbyler.
Wisesiren/Sirenwise: Refers to shipping Human!Will with Siren!Mike. Subvariant of Merwise.
Bravesiren/Sirenbrave: Refers to shipping Siren!Will with Human!Mike. Subvariant of Merbrave.
Vampbyler: Refers to shipping Vampire!Will with Vampire!Mike.
Vampwise: Refers to shipping Human!Will with Vampire!Mike.
Vampbrave: Refers to shipping Vampire!Will with Human!Mike.
Werebyler: Refers to shipping Werewolf!Will with Werewolf!Mike.
Werewise: Refers to shipping Human!Will with Werewolf!Mike.
Werebrave: Refers to shipping Werewolf!Will with Human!Mike.
Werehare: Refers to shipping Hare-Hybrid!Will with Werewolf!Mike.
Zombyler: Refers to shipping Zombie!Will with Zombie!Mike.
Zombwise: Refers to shipping Human!Will with Zombie!Mike.
Zombrave: Refers to shipping Zombie!Will with Human!Mike.
Zombvamp: Refers to shipping Zombie!Will with Vampire!Mike, or the reverse.
Werevamp: Refers to shipping Werewolf!Will with Vampire!Mike, or the reverse.
Werezombie: Refers to shipping Zombie!Will with Werewolf!Mike, or the reverse
Bearler: Refers to Care Bear Byler.
NOTE: I won't be adding anymore creature variants and subvariants unless they're distinctly different from the X Creature!Will with X Creature!Mike formula. You get the idea.
