Paper rings- Obamitsu (College AU) - Chapter One

Misturi woke up at around 8am to the sound of her little pink alarm clock going off. The air was cold that day, the room was practically freezing as she got up from her warm bed and reluctantly made her way to the bathroom. She made a mental note of the fact that her roommate,Shinobu, had already left for her morning classes. Mitsuri had always admired Shinobu for being so responsible, despite being younger than she was.
Mitsuri pulled on a light pink sweater with some jeans and a white coat before heading out of her dorm into the cold fall morning that awaited her. The trees were gorgeous around this time of year, vibrant hues of red and orange as the leaves slowly fell one by one. Mitsuri could feel the leaves crumbling beneath her, for some reason she found herself in a deep state of thought that day.
That deep state was promptly interrupted by a loud voice, "Mitsuri!"
She whipped her head around to see her friend, Rengoku Kyojuro. "Rengoku! What are you doing here?" She asked, her cheerful smile beaming at him.
Rengoku stated, "Well I was heading to my first class but it doesn't start till ten o clock. So I have about two hours of doing nothing."
Mitsuri smiled, "Ah! Well I was just going to go to the coffee shop nearby! Want to join me?"
Rengoku nods, "Of course! I had nothing to do anyways."
They made their way to a little coffee shop right outside of campus. It was basically a coffee shop for their college at this point. Everyday it would be packed with students either doing homework or just hanging out. Mitsuri was already imaging in her head what she would get, she was a foodie after all. She didn't have much time to dwell on that before they actually got to the coffee shop.
They walked into the coffee shop, being greeted by the scent of freshly roasted coffee and the sweet pastries that had just been baked. Mitsuri looked around. Although it was early, the place was already pretty full. She looked around and spotted Kanao Tsuyuri, Shinobu's younger sister, working at the cashier taking orders. She smiled and said excitedly, "Kanao! Hi! You look so cute in your little uniform!"
Kanao looked up at her "Oh hi, Mitsuri!" she said in her sweet voice, flashing Mitsuri a soft,weary smile. Suddenly a loud crash was heard from the back, Kanao looked back to see Inosuke, who somehow got a job at the shop, covered in flour.
A warm, exasperated voice speaks up ,"Ah, Inosuke, what did we say about getting too close to the flour?" It was Tanjiro Kamado, another employee at the famous coffee shop.
Kanao sighed and murmured, "Oh gosh...Anyways, sorry Mitsuri...what can I get for you?"
Mitsuri giggled and said, "No worries Kanao! Can I have a matcha latte and a strawberry pastry?"
Kanao nodded and Mitsuri paid her before going off to the side to wait for her order. Once she got her order she noticed Rengoku waving his hand for her to come over. She walked quickly over to him and was met with the sight of Rengoku's friends all sitting at the table along with him. Mitsuri had met his friends before, she liked to refer to them as the friend group with all the "Super smart genius people."
She scanned the table as she registered exactly who was in front of her. Among these people, perched on a tall chair was Muichiro Tokito, who was essentially a child genius. He started university at only 16 and was studying mechanical engineering of all things; which was a subject Mitsuri considered, "Super hard!"
Right next to him was a boy with dark black hair and bright blue eyes. Mitsuri recognized him as one of Shinobu's good friends. Giyuu Tomioka, was also someone that Mitsuri consider to be part of this group of very smart people. "I mean, the guy is literally studying philosophy, how much smarter can you get?" Mitsuri thought.
Rengoku stated, "Muichiro! You remember Mitsuri, right? You guys met at my birthday party!
Muichiro looked at Mitsuri for a second before saying, "Do I know you?"
Before Mitsuri could even respond to what the small boy had said, she was interrupted by a thump on the table. It was Sanemi Shinazagawa, another one of Rengoku's friends. He huffed, "Those stupid employees take too long."
Giyuu interjects, "Wait where is Obanai?" Mitsuri raised an eyebrow at this, she remembered hearing about Obanai, but she had never met him.
Sanemi said, "Probably feeding his snakes or some shit. I bet he has so many dead rats in his fridge."
Muichiro sighed, "You are so stupid."
Sanemi looked like he was about to slap Muichiro, his expression twisting into anger and annoyance
Suddenly Rengoku exclaimed, "Ah there you are, friend!"
Mitsuri turned her head around to look at where Rengoku was waving at. Her eyes widened when she saw Obanai. He walked in with a white sweater and some nice dress pants. His black hair covered parts of his face and he wore a white mask, on top of that he had the most beautiful eyes she had ever seen . Mitsuri stared at him, admiring him. "He's so cute!" She exclaimed in her mind.
Obanai looked at her for a split second before turning to his friends and sitting next to Sanemi. Mitsuri would be lying if she said she wasn't a bit sad that he barely noticed her.
Rengoku looked at Mitsuri, smiling brightly, "Mitsuri this is my friend, Obanai! He was in that forensics seminar I told you about!"
Mitsuri smiled, "Hi! I'm Mitsuri! Nice to meet you!"
Obanai gave her a small wave before turning away from her. He seemed to be quite shy and very quiet. Mitsuri realized she was staring and promptly turned away.
Mitsuri had always longed for love, she was a hopeless romantic after all. But she could never shake the fear of never finding someone who would love her for who she truly was. Someone who loved her for her cheerful, loud, self. Although, sometimes she was a little too loud. But the guy that is meant for her won't care about stuff like that!
She continued eating her pastry as the boys at the table talked about science or something? She wasn't really paying attention. Her eyes drifted back to Obanai. For some reason, she felt drawn to him...
"Oh, i'm already down bad..."
