Thinking about the macms production of NPMD again and I somehow haven't talked about it here yet so...
(for context, all the nerdy prudes in this production were each dressed in a lord in black colour) I can't stop thinking about Steph being purple. Like, I was confused about it at first and I didn't fully get it but it makes so much sense to me now. The way mayor lauters surveillance over Steph works so goddamn well to relate her to Blinky it's insane!! (Also with Pete being yellow it really worked to highlight the opposites attract type nature of their relationship)
And how could I not be talking about that productions costuming without mentioning their lords in black BECAUSE THEY WERE ALL SO COOL. I remember specifically talking to the Blinky actress and the costume designer after the show just to compliment them both because holy shit the designs were so cool. The shaggy fur coat type thing and tentacle patterned pants on wiggly, pokeys half mask, tinkys goat skull hat and bastards box, just all of nibblys headpiece, AND BLINKYS JESTER HAT AND TUTU!!! I wanna go back and time to watch it again just so I can look at all the costuming stuff again because it was all so good.
There's so much I can talk about, but I also wanna mention the props and set stuff. Pete's bag was labelled ccrp. I noticed this and then forgot to tell my friends about it during intermission but it was just such a small detail that I loved. The whole production was full of them. They had a wall that was like covered in posters and stuff and it had so many references (both to hatchetfield and others (looking at you John pork and hyperpigmentation)) I genuinely spent so long trying to look at everything and I want to go backkkk but I can't
I'm so sad I'll never be able to watch it again icl I'm gonna be thinking about this for forever
