Aaaaall of the Ancients and Virtues together for me to look at and digest. The designs are still subject to change, I'll have to ponder the orb and look into the future for that.
You have no idea how excited I am to have these finished.....
THAT BEING SAID if you notice an inconsistency in design, color missing in places (a very common fault of mine dhsjka) or have any other feedback-
PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I'm happy to still do more work on them, I want them to be as close to perfection as possible :]
I'm making these into double-sided photocards after all. Gotta make sure I put out my best!
Burning Spice's moral ambiguity is so interesting to me because he thinks destruction is mercy. He has watched the cycle of change repeat itself so many times that he cannot live in the moment and is only waiting for an inevitable end, so he thinks it is best to end things now rather than later. This is a traumatized person using unhealthy coping mechanisms- someone who has experienced the pain of seeing countless people and civilizations meet their own end over and over, so he decides if he cannot stop the cycle of change, his solution is to at least speed it up. He even wants to be destroyed himself, because his own immortality has brought him misery. The least he can do is spare others from that fate
One thing that’s really interesting about Eternal Sugar that I’ve seen very few people talk about is how she’s in denial that she’s corrupted at all.
She thinks that Sloth is the answer to Happiness because no one can be hurt or sad if they don’t do anything. She even still titles herself similarly to her Virtue counterpart (Sugar of Happiness -> Bringer of Happiness).
She doesn’t see herself as corrupted because she thinks she’s finally found an answer on how to make every cookie happy forever. It’s a really interesting part of her character that’s never really addressed.
I think this is why she dislikes the title of "beast." Why should she be called a beast for making people happy? That's her thought process, anyway
It’s also interesting to me how she’s both not afraid to hurt others in order to get what she wants but then when Holly calls her out on that she panics and insists that she didn’t because she’d never hurt anyone.
She genuinely believes she’s found some secret code to making cookies happy and that everything she does is for their own good. She ultimately doesn’t understand happiness because she cannot understand that different cookies are happy by different things.
I really wish this was explored more because I think it’s the most interesting part of Eternal’s character and sets her apart from the other beasts; all of the beasts think what they’re doing is right but she’s the only one to be in outright denial that she’s corrupted and that what she’s doing is wrong while the others are aware of their corruption and their actions but believe the ends justify the means.
Honestly, man, I think that they all just kind of hate each other. Or at least, they don't get along very well because their ideals clash with each other. Silent Salt obviously hates all of them including himself. In kingdom interactions, Burning Spice has threatened to destroy Eternal Sugar's garden- which she was clearly not happy about- and it's implied he wants to rip off her wings like he did to Golden Cheese. Mystic Flour has referred to Burning Spice as "the noisy one" and says that she "pities those who fail to understand the merit of becoming dust before crumbling by your hand" during their kingdom interaction, and in One of Darkness Absolute, she says she finds his hunger for destruction unappealing. Mystic Flour also seems to find Eternal Sugar's love for Hollyberry to be futile, and Eternal Sugar is distressed by the thought that Mystic Flour's philosophy implies that the happiness she strives for is meaningless as well.
I know we don't have a lot of canon interactions between them and I do wish that Devsis put more effort into developing their relationships with each other, but like. Yeah, none of them really seem to be on good terms with each other
This gets a lot more tragic when you remember that most of these are because they each think they’re right in their ways and are looking at each other with the mentality of “I want to help you. Why won’t you let me help you”
Burning Spice has threatened to destroy the garden because his whole thing’s about knowing that things will wither sooner or later, so to save time and pain, destroy it now (which opposes Eternal Sugar who wants to keep her garden and herself pristine and “happy”). This goes with Mystic Flour, who doesn’t seem to mind the crumbling of cookies, but it does “frustrate” her how he doesn’t give the cookies the chance to understand how futile life is and choose to crumble
Eternal Sugar thinks the answer to everything is happiness within the garden, so Burning Spice wanting to destroy what she thinks is the solution is frustrating. And you’ve mentioned why Mystic Flour frustrates her as well
Mystic Flour, as previously stated, thinks all want and emotion is futile, so Eternal Sugar’s strive for happiness and Burning Spice’s lust for destruction are things she thinks have no need, so she verbalizes this to her friends as an attempt to “enlighten” them
Everyone likes Silent Salt. Silent Salt hates everyone

I do agree that the Beasts definitely didnt get along with each other(at least post-corruption), although I feel like how they feel towards each other is a bit more complicated than just mutual hate;
Like...—'old childhood friends(or more like co-workers that didnt know what an actual friendship was like and assumed that this was it) who drifted apart as life got more busy and only meeting each other again YEARS later as surprise roommates but by then all of you have changed so drastically that rekindling old bonds felt near impossible(and also awkward because youve known each other for a majority of your immortal life yet at the same time you dont), but none of you really want to be alone again nor have the heart to truly leave each other(with the exception of Silent Salt) so it becomes this weird kind of codependent kinship that progressively gets more and more toxic as they all delve further into their respective unhealthy coping mechanisms'—type of complicated...
Not sure if that made any sense but thats how I personally see their relationship—
talking to my friend who knows nothing about object shows about ii and gave them this diagram to explain my very serious and legitimate theory when they didn't understand what i meant by "non binary containment unit"
Hey! Do you have any thoughts on taco competing in season 4? I remember when i first watched hearing there was going to be another competition i paused the video and said Taco Will Hate This. And then she joined and i was like oh okay! If she wants to i guess. As a certified tacoposter. Do you have any ideas why she did that?
YES! its because taco wants to make up for her failures in s2. taco is explicitly trying to show that she is a changed/better person now through the game . its the first thing she says to soap during the challenge!
taco wants to show everyone shes 'good' now that she can be trusted and relied on. this is also shown through her word in the challenge . 'clean' because she wants to play cleanly (boring, safe, tame etc!) but also MORAL! she wants to show everyone thats shes 'good' and has morals and isnt the evil/manipulative person she was coded to be . that she can be morally 'pure' and 'clean'
shes also motivated by mepads death. mepad was a figure that was important to her and was (another) object taco sees as 'moral' someone who was just and on her side that got cut out way too soon . mepad isnt around to see how taco is growing or changing . she wants to be able to prove that she can be the person mepad believed she could be
also i HATE HATE HATE to be that guy but its like . its microphone lowkey also . taco wants to make it up to microphone for how she treated her in season 2 . she still feels guilty about it .
taco talking to microphone and bringing up the game is a direct parallel to their conversation in the finale just with their roles swapped . taco has been itching for an excuse to make it up to microphone ! she wants to prove that they can work together normally and be friends
wait what the hell okay this made me . i just realized taco says honesty is important and then its revealed mics word is honesty. yeah okay. what the fuck . okay whatever . oh my god mics lie its litaerlly the lets not do it in secret one again . yeah okay
tldr: it all boils down to taco believing that she HAS to prove herself as someone that can be 'forgiven' and accepted into greater object society and that this can ONLY be done through her actions (such as helping her teammates)
taco saying that shes willing to make the sacrifice of being 'tame and boring' in exchange for 'having morals' is kind of crazy like actually . like the willingness to sand herself down out of fear that her innate personality is harmful and something that needs to be repressed out of safety is like crazy
and it makes sense because her 'default' is this highly dramatic theatrical individual . shes incredibly expressive and argumentative and has this flare to everything like . from body language alone . and silly! she makes stupid passive aggressive jokes! and in comparison to s4 its very obvious how.. theres a lack of this ig
