really not liking the tendency i'm seeing in millenials to use their disgust with and opposition to AI as an excuse to shit all over gen z and gen alpha for not just the perceived overreliance on the technology but also being "generally horrible and unruly", "lazy and uneducated", "without common sense or any idea of how to do basic tasks", and worse, "little bastards with no sense of respect or manners"
methinks the accusations of 'purity culture' and 'doomerism' are actually a reflection of some inner knowledge of your own failings and a repetition of the cycle of past generations to demonize and trivialize the youth regardless of any actual data either in support of or against your assertions
also I don't think parents "these days" are uniquely terrible, I just think neglect is showing up in new ways as technology progresses. today's ipad kid would've been wandering around in a ditch alone all day and night before. parents not wanting to have to deal with children is not a new phenomenon.

was comparing the 'just ask me to save you' scenes of tokyo revengers and one piece on the most surface of levels and the conclusion i've reached is that mikey and robin went through with it when takemichi and luffy pushed them to because they knew that they were good on their word. by this point takemichi had saved draken, faced taiju and held out against tenjiku and robin had seen luffy's nature all through alabasta, skypeia and lrll, so there was a solid, established level of trust -if they gave up control of the situation, showed that vulnerability and just let it happen, they knew, even subconsciously, that it would work
now ace on the other hand could never have 'just asked' garp to save him because garp hadn't done anything in ace's life to show that he actually would. it isn't a question of whether he actually would've done it if ace really had asked, it's the fact that the push to 'just ask' was put forward on the false premise that it was a viable option to begin with. it literally never could've happened because of how their relationship played out over ace's entire life and impacted his ability to trust in the offer itself
my ONLY gripe with the dr stone ending (manga) is that in the visual aesthetics it lost the sauce. i know it was at a wedding so there was an abundance of suits in general but Gen literally calls his robes smth like 'these old things' which implies that all the interesting visual markers of the series (the diverse clothing/styling, the petrification cracks being painted on, hell even the architecture in the background) is or has already been chipped away and discarded for pre-stone world modern clothing and i just don't find that cool or interesting. maybe you can make the argument that narratively its an indication of the world going 'back to normal' which was the goal but. well. aesthetically it's still pretty lame ngl
as much as i love "humanity's strongest tag team" for tsukasen i think it somewhat understates the kind of wavelength they're operating on. like one of them accurately counted every single second that passed for the entire 3,700 years he was petrified for and the other simply asked "what's the situation?" before proceeding to kill a lion with his bare hands. all things considered it's no wonder why they understand each other so well (they're both batshit fucking insane)
ok not for nothing, but i think Tsukasa really could've been won away from the whole 'let's kill the older generations to safeguard the stone world' thing if someone had just engaged with him regarding actual Marxist analysis on how class society and capitalism developed. not sure how this would've affected his later interactions with Ryusui though
