Warframe is such a morally gray game.

Yet again, hold my hand

Every character is hurting. Every single one.

And you can tell, too. The factions, the non-fighters, the enemies, the allies. Everyone is hurting because of the conflict, the nature of what they are, they violence that is done to them, the values of the societies they are part of.

Even the Tenno, as the protagonists aren't necessarily good of bad. The game allows you to make choices, not good or bad ones (I like to think of them as emotional or rational options). Our objective is to ultimately do good but that doesn't mean we succeed in that.

We're deeply traumatized, deeply flawed and trying to salvage a system that is fragmented and corrupt and cynical in the middle of a fight started by the power vacuum left by an empire built on hierarchical values and a military backbone. ALL OF IT WITH AN UNHEALTHY DOSE OF HEDONISM.

Even their memories are not to be trusted, the thing that controls how they view the world and themselves is not something they can rely on but they need to keep pushing forward because there's nothing to be done other than keep moving.

The Tenno can offer help that can save or doom entire civilizations regardless of their intentions. That's scary.

I was staring into the abyss of my own enclosure thinking how canonically bisexual Arthur Nightingale struggles with the appropriateness of his own masculinity.

For the other Arthur smoochers– hold my hand.

Arthur has all the stereotypical "masculine" attributes (that were most likely enforced by his father and other male figures in his life, ie. that conversation where he says kids mocked him for being too old for "playing with dollies" and how he stopped doing so afterwards)

Arthur gives me the energy of a man that is very stifled in his own skin, both with his role as a leader and his overall existence. In between horny dialogues Arthur is very awkward about other, more domestic stuff.

That added to his less stereotypically "masculine" attributes: Cooking, the offer to put an apron for the drifter, his past as a choir boy and interest in singing (which he only ever does when drunk) just make me want to squeeze that man.

My man is struggling with his own existence so much outside of his job it's actually crazy. Every time he mentions wanting to open a pub and have a garden and a huge garage I look at god and think: "Man he would thrive so much as a homemaker." IN A COMPLETELY NON PATRONIZING WAY LET THAT MAN BE A HOUSE HUSBAND OH MY GOD.

Anyways I feel normal and fine and well in the head.

Arthur's a beautiful example of what the patriarchy does when one fully embraces it. (Quincy is an example of what happens when you are forced in, but try and keep the core of who you are, and Amir is an example of someone who cannot adhere despite trying, etc.)

Arthur's sooo good at being a manly man, he gets a good grade in Man which is both a normal thing to want and to be able to achieve. It only costs... *checks notes*

Himself.

All his passions and comfort and happiness.

So yeah, him actively discussing things he wants to do that aren't traditionally masculine is an OMEGA win to me every time I catch them. Hell yes rank 5+ arthur singing in the mall. That's what we call character growth.

It's such a monumental thing to see him, even tentatively contemplate the possibility of doing those things without shame and it makes me so proud of him that being in a supportive relationship with the drifter (plus the overall insanity of their situation) embolden him to go try or even think about things outside of his little box.

I still think he has so much space to grow and discover things about himself under the right incentive (him talking about being embarassed to ask to play side and seek with the others because everyone sees him a "big serious leader")

It's nice that the Drifter is, by definition, so absolutely removed from any and all cultural expectations and such an almost mystical being that Arthur finds himself having space to exist every once in a while.

I just love him a lot and want him (and the entire Hex very strongly) to be happy and heal from their own isolation.

The level of frightened distress these animations have portrayed: Little Natah curled into Wally, jumping when Wally raises its voice, her trembling eyes, the panic at being removed from someone who, at that point, was the most familiar presence in the room.

She's not just a Sentient infant, she is an infant who is already severely traumatized.

It's no surprise that Lotus was so willing to take Wally's deal, to sacrifice her memories, to kill herself for the Tenno. She was already suffering the moment she was pulled from the manifold.

The incredible part? Their mutual reluctance to leave each other.

The Indifference is already learning to care.

i've always wondered what human speech would look like visually in the POV of eridians in the same way eridian speech is written as music notes in the book and my favorite version of it i've seen in fics is when words are written as phonetics in rocky's POV :-) oh and also that one post about rocky and grace figuring out random words they can say in the other's language

I lived and worked in a lighthouse at a previous job.  There was a thick line painted in a circle around the shack where the fog signal was kept.  The line represented how close you could get to the fog signal without experiencing physical harm in the form of eardrums shattering or worse.

Even in the house it was LOUD.  Probably the loudest thing I have ever experienced but at a normal, predictable interval.  You would begin to time your sentences with little pauses with the rest of the lighthouse crew so you would talk like this while making your………..HORN…………. tea and then carry on talking because you knew when it would go off.  It rattled the walls and the dishes in our cabinet.

At least one girl had died there. They kept photos of her everywhere “in honor of her sacrifice” because she had decided to take the winter watch alone and died in a storm where bounders the size of mini vans had been lifted out of the ocean and left scattered across the island, to say nothing of the ice chunks.  People weren’t allowed to be alone on the watch after that.

One day a dead moose washed up on shore and it took my entire crew all day but we managed to rig up a line to hang it up to dry because we thought having a moose skeleton in the house would really spice the living room up a bit.  It did.  Weird shit happens when six of you are left alone, like ALONE ALONE, no cell reception, no wifi, just a radio to contact the real world and not a lot of reason to do that.  People don’t go on lighthouse jobs if they want to stay connected, I’ve found.

That said Id do it all again, I really do treasure those days
