Avian Girl Colored Sketch by graphiteforlunch
is coaxing me back into the wonderful world of RP! She knows I am too busy to handle much at a time, but I'll take it slowly with a new character. Very quick visual concept sketch. This girl is basically a nanny whose job includes making sure her intrepid young charges don't fall to their deaths... you know, normal avian childcare challenges. Very simple doodle. After lots of meticulous artwork lately, it was nice to just relax. leads a lovely RP group called By Tooth and Claw Dragons which I highly recommend for anyone who enjoys a good fantasy RP. BTACD has been around for over a decade and isn't going anywhere, so if you keep running into the problem where your RP sites that you join keep dying, you won't have that problem here.
Reblog if it is okay if I make fanart of your OCs
Knock yourself out, there’s plenty to choose from.
I actually find this information REALLY HELPFUL when I visit someone else’s gallery and like their OCs. Not everyone is comfortable with fanart and few artists post whether or not they are.

Just gonna say I ordered two bags of this stuff and it arrived Thursday, and it is the softest and most lovely fur. Just luscious. you weren't kidding about it being quality! There are so many crafts and projects I can use this for. But also, there is SO MUCH FUR that I am going to be making more projects for myself just so I can find a reason to use it. Oh, and the cats love it! To any of my followers or anyone looking at this thinking of getting some, anyone who like making crafts like art dolls or furry things, if you need random fur scraps of no particular size or shape, get your paws on some of this stuff! Do it now! It may well be the best scrap fur you will ever find. And basically FREE. The pieces in my bag were mostly in strips and totally random shapes. However, there is definitely enough to use on a fursuit head/mask as I plan to do and I am even going to be able to make handpaws out of what I got. my paws require both black and white fur and not one enormous piece. In my bag, some of the white pieces were rather big. If I decide to just stay with a partial for my suit, I don't think I will need to buy black or white fur at all.
Forgotten Wanderer by graphiteforlunch
The full-body pose in the reference I just made for this feliform creature was calling me to do something more with her... So here's a female nimravid (extinct false saber-toothed cat), Graphite, padding her way through an alpine valley. A storm is rolling in from the mountains.
In her time, Earth was, on average, warmer than it is now, so biomes like this might have been more uncommon or distributed differently. Still, in those rocky, high-elevation areas away from the equator, one could imagine a nimravid filling the ecological niche of a cougar or snow leopard. Nimravids were a diverse bunch, ranging from lynx to lion size and filling a variety of roles in the food chain very closely paralleling the roles of modern cats. For example, Dinaelurus was built much like a cheetah and likely ran down its prey in similar fashion. So perhaps Dinictis or some other nimravid adapted to an alpine lifestyle like many cats we have today.
We do know that nimravids were incredibly violent towards one another, with as many as 1 in 10 fossil nimravid skulls showing signs of being killed by other nimravids with bites to the head using their sabers. Hoplophoneus (a larger nimravid with longer sabers) was known to kill smaller Dinictis nimravids this way. The competition between lions, leopards and cheetahs on the African savannah is perhaps a comparable situation. I imagine that it would make sense for some of them (like our friend Graphite here) to adapt to this danger by seeking ever more remote territories and coming together only to breed.
I look forward to more discoveries in my lifetime about these fascinating prehistoric predators.

Lioness of Light by graphiteforlunch
This is dedicated to those who have held me when I felt I could barely breathe. This is for the ones who have spoken truth and love into my life. This lioness is a bringer of life and hope. She brings light that shines on the dark places and she brings also the sweet relief for the sad things hiding in darkness. With power she lets them know that they need not stay hidden in their shame; they are loved unconditionally.
The Fire Comes by graphiteforlunch
This particular nimravid, who appears to be affected by vitiligo, is supposed to be a member of the cursorial Dinaelurus genus.

Artist's comments:
Dredging up stuff from a few months ago, when I was too busy and depressed to post anything. I don't consider this finished, but I thought it was elegant in its own way so I'm posting it anyway. (no references used/just vent art)
I cannot tell whether the next few months are going to be wonderful and inspiring or whether they are going to be hell. I stand behind the ambiguity. Maybe someday I will know where this cat is and what she is doing. Maybe then I can finish it. I cannot pretend I put nothing of myself into my artwork. Who am I kidding? I cannot know what the future holds for this one. This creature is me.
