my absolute favorite thing about Knives Out is that Marta was allowed to be soft and kind and caring, without the narrative punishing her for it or forcing her to change. she’s rewarded for it in fact; she maintains a kind heart in the face of a difficult situation and she comes out on top for it! it was so nice to see because I feel like a lot of films write soft, kind women just to narratively punish them or have them “grow” by becoming harder, but Marta’s arc seemed much more about coming into herself, realizing that what happened wasn’t her fault and doesn’t make her any less good, and that just because she is kind-hearted doesn’t mean she has to let people walk all over her
