Who amongst us has not looked at the bevy of exchanges, zines, and projects the beautiful but bonkers Terror fandom puts out, and thought “Hmm… needs more events.” Well, you’re in luck! Introducing Crozier/Jopson Fest 2021, a a very chill fic and art fest celebrating the curmudgeonly captain of our hearts, and the haunted doll steward who irons for him.

How’s it going to work? Simple! Sign up using the Google Form and submit a contact detail, prompt, and DNW list by September 30th, and we’ll automagically match people to suitable prompts, sent out Oct 10th. Posting isn’t til December 20th, so there’s plenty of time! Fic fills have a 1k minimum, art fills are as limitless as your imagination! While we’re asking participants to supply prompts, this isn’t a one-to-one exchange; you get a prompt, not a recipient, so if life gets in the way, you’re not letting anyone down.

Every new main title in the Resident Evil series: how about we include CHRIS REDFIELD angsting over another DEAD TEAM and being a DICK in general but with zero consequences and you have to play him for an entire segment/storyline?

I mean...that isn't the plot for Village at all but okay. IMO Chris is the only one in the series that has developed chemistry with other characters: Jill, Claire, Piers, etc

I will say Jill does deserves at least one more game to give her a legit and proper send off. She was forgotten in the abyss after RE5. I'd like at the very least a CGI movie with her Chris and Barry. Capcom definitely dropped the ball not including Jill or Claire in 6. Either of them teaming up with Leon would have been infinitely better than him with the actual blandest character in RE history: Helena. (Sidenote, Sheva is second in command of bland characters due to the fact they just created her to relieve the heat off of the backlash of the original trailer. Argue if you must, but that's why she was included 🤷🏼‍♀️)

I also very much enjoyed Chris's story in 6, however they could have improved it by having Piers contact Jill to help track Chris down and help him get back on a healthy track rather than throw him back on the front lines...like fuck your head trauma, here's your gun.

They also messed up with not having any resolution with his conflict with Jake.

The strange thing is, most people that I know irl that prefer Leon as the main protagonist in RE is because of RE4. And that's because of the actual game and not so much him as a character. I couldn't stand him in RE2 and forever preferred Claire's A game over everything. I also think we definitely need another Redfield sibling anything...Code Veronica is THE most underrated RE game by far. And they built up their reunion in RE2, in the epilogues in Nemesis and it didn't disappoint.

We can all agree to disagree on who are and are not the best video game characters, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

But from my perspective at least, Chris is the easiest character to defend when it comes to personality and his stance in the RE universe. He's been my favorite since day one and I don't ever see that altering.

And that's fine! You see something in Chris' character. Personally I don't get any of that. I don't know why but from my first introduction to Resident Evil I NEVER liked him. Nothing about his design or story or personality has ever spoke to me, and his every appearance feels like the same set of events or storyline over and over. But that's MY opinion. You find Sheva bland but I actually wanted to know more about her than go through Chris' emotions and journey in RE5. (And honestly, I don't even like Resident Evil 4. I know it's the most well-loved game but I played it once, had a bit of fun, and would never pick it up again. I find Leon has more humour, but I still find him suffering the same flaws as Chris Redfield.)

Anyway, my point is is that I know there are people who really like his character. I just really enjoy him making fun of this character. I can't help it. I don't like him. But I will say most cosplayers, fanfic authors, and fanartists actually have fun with him and make him a lot more appealing to me. Capcom keeps trying though, and it's never worked on me.

((ALSO YES, CODE VERONICA IS SEVERELY UNDER-RATED AND I WOULD LOVE FOR A FULL-ON REMAKE OF IT NEXT.))

You want a character more bland and repetitive than Chris? See Leon. You just described him.

Chris and Leon are two sides of the same bland coin and all the characters they interact with are infinitely more interesting. And honestly that goes for ships too. I don't know how they do it, but Capcom has never made me care about Chris and Leon's chemistry with others o n c e

But I have to disagree in that to me, Chris Redfield is the MOST lifeless character in this franchise and I hate how much he eats up games. If you like him, cool, but I'm tired of sitting through another dead team of his and Chris being a general asshole but it's okay because he's dealing with A Lot and he has Work To Do

I think one of the things that makes Fallout 3 one of my favourite games of all time is how they do the beginning tutorial. They take something that is usually such a slog to go through repeatedly and made it something that informs not only your character but the entire world around them. Even the age transitions have so many fun little bits that foreshadow later characters and revelations if you can pick them out.

I dunno, it’s just pretty cool to watch your character interact with people and an environment as a toddler, a child, and a teenager in a segment that’s usually not regarded as an actual part of a video game.

Okay, so, thank you to everyone who filled out the prompt list! There were so many amazing, wonderful ideas and it's was extremely hard to chose between some of them. Because of that fact, some have been combined and bunched together.
