Wayne gets off work and finds some kid wandering around a parking lot covered in bruises and nearly in tears because he can’t get the lid off a bottle of ibuprofen, and just takes the kid home.

He never really gets a clear answer out of the kid about where he lives or anything other than being worried about pissing off Hopper and his head hurting, so he stops trying.

He puts the kid to bed on the couch, leaves Hopper a nasty voicemail, and then stays up as long as he can manage to make sure the kid doesn’t die in his sleep.

This is how Eddie wakes up a couple hours later to find his uncle slumped over in a chair and Steve “The Hair” Harrington asleep on the couch.

Hopper’s POV

He drives back to Joyce’s busted up house after Eleven closes the gate and finds a kid he doesn’t know passed out on the floor and Steve looking like he died, came back, and was making a valiant effort to die again.

Not great, all around.

He makes sure Will is okay and then leaves Eleven with Joyce (this is fine, ideal for this scenario). He hauls Billy’s unconscious ass into his truck, pulling a muscle in his back in the process, and then puts Steve in the passenger seat.

Steve immediately vomits up blood onto the carpet as soon as the car starts moving (less ideal). Hopper looks at the pool of blood seeping into his interior and says, “That’s probably from your nose bleeding.”

Steve says a truly pathetic voice, “It sucks.”

Hopper chooses to ignore the tears in his voice out of respect and instead asks questions about what happened. His words seem to slide off Steve because he doesn’t really get an answer to anything other than the fact that kid wants to go home.

Hopper gets to the hospital and places Steve in a chair in the waiting room. He tells him to sit tight for a minute, “We figure this out and then you go home. Got it?”

Steve, not having a good grip on much of anything right now, “Got it.”

Hopper gets a gurney and a couple of nurses to help get Billy out of the truck, and then ends up in a twenty minute interrogation with the head nurse about what drugs he was on. He was asked a lot of questions about Billy despite - and Hopper cannot overstate this enough - he does not even know the kid’s name. Much less know if he has any allergies.

The nurse doesn’t budge so Hopper ends up radioing Powell and having him - no questions asked - drive out to Joyce’s and ask Max Mayfield what her brother’s damn name was. She also didn’t know his allergies.

A whole hour passes before he makes it back over to where he left Steve, but the kid is gone.

Hopper kinda assumes that Steve was taken back by a nurse to be treated and is promptly proven wrong when he asks for his room number.

Then comes hours or searching the hospital, the surrounding roads, the Harrington house, and then circling back to Joyce’s. He checks in on El, lies about Steve’s whereabouts to the other kids, and then formulates a game plan with Joyce.

He ends up pulling Powell and Callahan in on the search but no one really comes up with much until Hopper stops to get coffee a little after five AM. The cashier says that yeah, he saw a beat up kid.

The cashier nods like, “Yeah, kid was in a bad way. Almost called ya myself but someone picked him up.”

“Who?”

“I dunno, man. A friend?”

This lead goes dry almost immediately. Steve, he realizes, doesn’t have a lot of friend and the Hagans hadn’t hear from him.

He doesn’t get anywhere until he stops by his house for a change of clothes and listens to Wayne’s message on his answering machine.

Running on zero sleep and sheer force of will, Hopper shows up at Wayne’s front door where he is told to go home. The boy is alive and he ain’t leaving.

steve, engrossed in replying to hate comments about eddie, using one of his secret twitter accounts: hm?

eddie: gareth and i have finally come to an agreement on the title of the next album

steve, not looking up from his phone: that's nice, babe

eddie: it's gonna be "i love my husband so much"

steve: mhm

eddie: the first song will be "even when he doesn't pay attention to me"

steve: cute

eddie: second song is titled "tentacle porn addiction"

steve: nice

eddie: i'm leaving you for gareth

steve: so nice, honey

eddie: *screams*

steve's flight or fight reflex chooses freeze as his soul leaves his body and eddie rips his phone out of his hand

eddie: i knew it! you're fighting trolls online again! i thought we deleted all your accounts last time! did you make new ones?

steve:

eddie: steve!!! you can't keep doing this! you're a kindergarten teacher, you can't keep telling people to kill themselves!

steve: they insulted your hair! i love your hair!!!

eddie: aw, sweetheart. still-

steve rips his phone out of his hand before he can finish his sentence, sprints to their bathroom and locks it

eddie, shouting after him: i'm going to report your accounts!

Steves car breaking down at the worst time, during an absolute downpour. He ends up having to walk home and, for a long moment, Eddie stays sat in his van gleefully watching him walking by... but he's quickly soaked, shivering and pathetic in a way thats depressing, not amusing. So he offers him a ride home, only to end up more annoyed when he finds out first hand how charming Steve is.

Steve upon seeing the whole group for the first time with his new glasses: when the fuck did Eddie get so pretty?

*stunned silence*

Steve: has he always been this pretty and nobody thought to tell me

Robin: we thought you could see dingus

What if, to pick up some money on the side, Eddie starts walking dogs. He eventually works up to the richer dog owners through word of mouth bc he is very good with dogs.

But the one pair of dogs he gets the most cash for hate him. They’re two little chihuahuas and their only desire in life seems to be ruining Eddies. He’s lucky that the owners think it’s cute and funny.

It’s not until he bumps into Steve Harrington one day, quickly learning that the two rats not only know Steve but adore him, that he finds a positive.

Because Steve also thinks it’s cute and funny how the two dogs hate Eddie and starts coming on their walks with him. And Eddie quickly learns that Steve is funny.

He’s not sure when he stops walking dogs for money, but he’s not complaining. Especially not with how touchy Steve starts to get the more comfortable he is.

So, I haven’t been too invested in Stranger Things lately but I am reading a lot of 9-1-1! I figured I would try out some writing for that fandom. Enjoy!

The 118 always felt like a family to Buck. From the moment he started as a probie, he felt something there. Over the years, he grew from the annoying little brother that everyone reluctantly put up with to a (sometimes) respected member of the family. Hen and Chim were the siblings he always wanted, Bobby was the father he never knew he needed, and Eddie. He was the love of his life, his best friend that Buck could always count on.

Sure, there were moments that tried to shake his beliefs. The lawsuit left him estranged from his family, abandoned like his parents and Maddie had done when he was a kid. Eddie getting shot shook him and left him ungrounded. The taste of blood in his mouth didn’t lessen until Eddie was back at his house with Buck hovering like a mother hen.

The point though was that the 118 was Buck’s family.

He thought that until his whole world started fracturing. Maddie left him again after promising to never leave again. Just like she had done was a teenager, she left him despite sacred pinky promises and a family that loved her. He knew she wasn’t in the best headspace but his hurt didn’t see logic, it just saw his sister abandoning him again.

Buck tried to look after Chimney and Jee in her absence like he promised her, devotedly caring for them and for her until a sucker punch stole his devotion. He wasn’t in his loft with his friend, coworker, and future brother in law then. No, Buck was back in his childhood living room drenched in fear, cowering away from the hatred his dad threw at him. Just like back then, he couldn’t fight back. He couldn’t explain his side of things or try to protect his sister. Instead, he shrunk back from Chimney and escaped into the dissociation he adopted when his dad had hit him as a child.

Buck was already drowning when Eddie announced that he was leaving the 118, leaving Buck. He still held onto their friendship and the hope for more with both hands for as long as he could but the one-sided efforts grew exhausting. Soon, Buck stopped reaching out first and without his attempts at contact, all of his relationships that he held in such high regard were eventually extinguished. Even Eddie cast him aside. The man he’d come to love so much stopped reaching out. Sure, their shifts didn’t always coincide and Buck was probably annoying when they did get together. But that was the last straw. As soon as he lost the Diazes, something in him snapped. That was when he stopped treading water and let the waves take him.

He stopped trying to keep his family together, he stopped making plans, and taking care of himself. What was the point? All he wanted in the world was a family that would be there for him and stick around but it seemed impossible to achieve.

For once, he wanted to be the one who left first. His parents were never there, Maddie kept leaving him even when she said she never would again, and the 118 wasn’t a family after all, just as Bobby had said way back when. When he mentioned a transfer initially, Eddie had told him not to because they were a “family”.

There was no one to stop him now. So, Buck transferred to a new station across town. He uprooted his life; moved to a new apartment, established a new routine, found a new hiking spot.

But reminders of his failed attempts at a family were everywhere. He would see billboards of DV and think of how strong Maddie was to survive all those years, he’d see recipe cards at the grocery store and think of making them with Bobby, he’d see kids and think of how long it had been since he’d seen Christopher, and he’d flinch at hands moving toward him and think of Chimney.

Across town wasn’t far enough. So after six months, he transferred to Chicago. Despite loathing the cold, something in Buck missed the snow. He found the busiest station there and decided to try again. The Buckley’s weren’t a family, the 118 never was despite the facade, and the Diazes weren’t his family. But maybe he could try again at Station 51 in Chicago.

He threw all of his effort into bringing his dream to life once again, the 118 being lost as just another bad memory to him.

He didn’t hear about Eddie going back to the 118, Maddie or Chimney going back home, or Hen staying at the 118 instead of pursuing medical school. He cut his losses just as his sister had modeled for him so many times before. This time, it was Maddie and the rest of the 118 being abandoned and Buck could move on with his life in a way he never had before. Without regret.

Imagine Steve and Eddie’s first meeting being a little different. Steve had just gotten his license and a brand-new Beemer, he’d been a little reckless back in the day. He didn’t see the silhouette dressed all in black on the curbside and wasn’t paying attention to anything when he turned the corner. At least not until he heard a thump and jerked in his seat.

Steve hopped out of his new car expecting to see a deer and stressing over what his dad was going to say when he came face to face with a wincing Eddie Munson.

“Dude, what the fuck are you doing? I think you just broke my hip!”

Steve stammered nervously, “I’m sure I didn’t hit you that hard, right? I’m so sorry, I didn’t see you and you’re wearing all black so-“

“So what? It’s three pm, me wearing black doesn’t mean shit, you can see me just fine,” Eddie waved his ringed hand between the two of them and shot him an annoyed look. “Just give me a ride home and we’ll call it even.”

“Sure man, I can do that.” He helped him up and helped the limping Munson into his car. He turned the keys, flicked on the radio and they were off.

Eddie was silent for approximately one minute until he groaned in pain. “Is this fucking Tears for Fears? You try to kill me and then you force me to listen to this garbage?”

“Woah, hey! First of all, I did not try to kill you. It was an accident and you should’ve been looking where you were going too. Secondly, Tears for Fears rocks.”

Eddie guffawed, “you wouldn’t know what rock was if it hit you with its car!”

By the time they arrived at Eddie’s trailer, both boys could comfortably say that they had established a connection with the other.

“If you ever want to hear real rock, come over again and I’ll play it for you sometime. See ya Harrington.”

It would take three years, a traumatizing experience, and more examples of Steve’s poor driving but eventually, Steve visited again. He learned what rock n’ roll was and more importantly, he got a boyfriend out of the deal too.

What if Steve came out to Robin on the bathroom floor in Starcourt instead of vice versa?

Steve complains to Robin about the lack of male options he has in Hawkins and pushes her to talk to guys which she never does. He thinks it’s because she’s not willing to put herself out there but she’s insanely gay (as we all know).

Meanwhile, Robin offers him support and friendly advice that his family and his old friends never could.

After the events of the next Spring Break though, Robin starts spending more time with Eddie and Steve gets jealous. In reality, she’s trying to convince Eddie that asking Steve out is a good idea because she knows that he is interested. In Steve’s mind though, she’s falling for his crush.

After misunderstandings, impromptu coming outs, and some awkwardness, Robin is out and proud while her best friends are disgustingly happy.

(I’m so sorry it’s been so long! Things have been hectic and I am just now rewatching Stranger Things and getting back into writing. If you have any ideas you’d like to see written, particularly angsty ones, send them my way please!)

Overprotective!Robin is literally one of my favorite character tropes, but today, I offer you Eddie Munson who tries to one up whatever bullshit the Party says about Steve.

“Yeah, well, Steve barely graduated.”

“Guess what nerd brigade, I failed twice. Top that Princess Steve.”

Steve is torn between telling Eddie to be less self-deprecating and being flustered at the flirty smirk Eddie just sent his way.

Eddie is completely and utterly broke after his run-in with Hell. The plant is destroyed so Wayne doesn’t have a job, half the town is a shell of its former normalcy, and the places that remain would rather burn than hire one of the “murderin’ Munsons”.

He finally comes up with a plan but even that is shut down with some panicked glances, attitude, and sassy hip-holding on Steve’s behalf.

“Absolutely not, Munson! I will not let you sell any of your organs. What the hell? Why do I even have to say that?!”

“Steve, you only need one kidney and the spleen is basically an accessory organ. It’ll be fine and then we’ll be rich.”

“No! No means no, you deranged weirdo. No organ selling!”

As a plan B, he starts playing shows again with Corroded Coffin just outside of town and luck allows them to be put on a record’s radar. He becomes the frontman of one of the world’s largest metal bands, Steve becomes a novelist with him on the road, and Robin comes along as an ASL interpreter for his shows.

And he maintains ownership of all of his organs (though he keeps the option open for a rainy day).

Steve getting stuck in a time loop but, when he realizes that Eddie still has to die for him to 'fix' everything, he refuses to leave the loop. He just starts finding new things to do, new ways to enjoy the same day. It never takes long for anyone to realize that something weird is going on with Steve, but he doesn't need to worry. They'll forget about it by the time morning starts again.

Steve and Robin live together when they move out of Indiana for her college and all their neighbors think they're dating or married. To be fair, it's because they both call each other "my wife".

Steve: If you kidnap me one more goddamn time for "good reasons", I'm pressing charges.

Hopper: ...

Steve: ...

Hopper: *kidnaps him again when he finds out his parents haven't been home in months*

Steve: *does not press charges and eats his free cheeseburger in pouty silence*

Eddie Munson, frontman and lead guitarist to the four-time Grammy award-winning metal band Corroded Coffin, is notorious for his incredibly complex and hard to replicate guitar solos. Naturally, when the creators of "Guitar Hero" announce their collaboration with Corroded Coffin in their next game, fans are eager to see him easily win the game.

It turns out that he's actually terrible at Guitar Hero, though, and it becomes a huge meme.

(Especially when his normie husband Steve, fed up with Eddie's days of whining while live-streaming on Twitch, picks up the guitar, scores a 96% on expert mode and walks out of the room without another word.)

famous youtuber steve would be fun bc I can only imagine him doing something like Jenny Nicholson, if a little less in depth and sometimes more mainstream. Like he'd have a big break when he makes a 5 hour video on one (1) basketball player that he thinks is really interesting because of how something like his stats contradict how his games turn out.
