Howdy! I figured since I'm actually posting now that I should properly introduce my mascot to the masses. So here she is! Be warned though that this will probably be pretty long XD
I'll skip the development tidbits for now and just get to the basic overview, then all her lore. Because of course a character primarily affiliated with Kirby has to have insane amounts of lore!
Character Profile
Full Name: Lumaly Starchild
Nickname(s): Luma (by everyone), Little Star (by Magolor), Ruma-chan (by Kirby), Mom (by Meloran)
Age: 20+
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Height: 5'7"
Personality
Generally, Lumaly is a smart, sweet girl who looks at the world with a sense of optimism and wonder. She doesn't like to say when something is wrong with her, instead tending to sacrifice her happiness for the sake of her friends. Over the years, she's attempted to put up the front of a tough outer shell, but those who know her know how sensitive she really is. Despite her deep internal wounds, though, she is incredibly loving to all those around her and would die for her friends; especially Meloran, her young ward.
Powers & Abilities
Her main ability is being able to shape-shift into a small pink star to fly around, sometimes even being used as a Warp Star, although going fully at warp speed takes a huge toll on her body. This ability was how she got the nickname "Little Star" as a child.
She can use Magolor's Magical Skills (albeit a little weaker), having been taught by him personally.
Where once she used an Ultra Sword, she now possesses an Astral Spear named Andromeda, thanks to Fecto Elfilis's tutelage (long story). She's still incredibly unstable with it though, and summoning it also takes a huge toll on her body, so much so that she has to wear a special glove when handling it.
Backstory
(I'll try to be as concise as possible lol)
On Earth, Luma was a normal child, about 6 years old, who played Kirby's Return to Dream Land and became instantly smitten with Magolor.
One night, she looked out her window and saw a shooting star. Being an incredibly imaginative girl, she wished with all her heart that she could go to Dream Land for real and meet her heroes.
And the next day, she ended up there!
Some time after Magolor had crashed the Lor, Lumaly came crashing down in the form of a small pink star. As night was falling, Magolor heard a loud noise, and he went outside to find the star in a tiny crater right next to the one Lor was in. As he went to pick up the star, it suddenly turned into a little girl, and the rest was history.
After the whole Crown fiasco, Luma HATED Magolor for a bit, but ultimately, her little-girl crush won out and she forgave him. She stayed in Dream Land for years after the fact and did most of her growing up there, as well as learning magic, making friends, and researching the events she hadn't personally experienced, all while living in the Lor Starcutter.
Several years later, when Luma hit her middle teens, she found out she had cancer and suddenly decided to return "home" to Earth. This confused everyone, especially Magolor, as Popstar basically was her home...but nobody kept her from what she thought was right.
Unfortunately, her time back on Earth was pure torture. Between the illness (which relapsed), high school (a nightmare), and being socially ostracized by her fellow humans, her spirit was broken.
The brief respite she got was from playing the new Kirby games so as to "keep up" with her dear friends. However, she barely touched them after completing them, wanting to distance herself from the happy memories she could never reclaim...
...or so she thought.
After she played through Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, she got an actual letter from the actual Magolor, actually inviting her to the ACTUAL Merry Magoland...and so the rest was history once again.
Current Life
Since Luma was a grown adult by the time she came back, she and Magolor were able to form a real relationship, for which they were both incredibly happy. Luma also learned that Earth's version of Forgotten Land's events was wrong, because Fecto Elfilis was still alive and Elfilin was helping him reform (again, long story). She visited the New World a lot and formed a tentative acquaintanceship with the alien that grew into a strong bond of mutual trust.
As Luma's stays in the New World became more frequent, a certain rotten little jester coerced Magolor into being with him instead. Luma was so devastated that she renounced Planet Popstar and started learning spear-play from Elfilis in order to reinvent herself. That was, until Meloran entered the picture.
She's since moved back to Dream Land (now in her own home, not the Lor) with her little sidekick and is living a quiet life, basically raising Meloran under the self-imposed vow of being a better person to him than Magolor was to her...even though her feelings for him never left.
Designed them some parents because I am insatiable LOL
Lore dumps below cut
Spin (Sonic):
Go here
Miles "Junior" Power:
Unlike Spin, Junior doesn't have any other living relatives to trace back to, so his parents will remain anonymous. Who even cares about those bozos, anyway? They only gave him up because he was a little different.
Princess Sally Acorn:
Go here and here :)
Antoine D'Coolette:
The D'Coolettes were a noble family living in the luxurious end of Mobotropolis. When Antoine joined the royal guard, his parents were proud of him, as they were quite close with the Acorns; however, their privileged life was halted when Robotnik took over the city.
As Antoine was gone, the Lord and Lady used their influence to help as many people as they could, evacuating them to a bunker in their mansion. Their fate is unknown...but their chances aren't great.
Bunnie Rabbot:
Bunnie and her parents were well-to-do farmers in the countryside between Knothole and Green Hill Zone. They grew veggies and raised livestock. Bunnie was super close to her dad growing up, as he taught her lasso tricks and gave her his favorite hat. Her mother also had a sister named Vanilla, who had a daughter named Cream.
When Robotnik's army seized their neighborhood, Bunnie's parents were used as roboticization tests. Unlike her, they didn't make it, but her aunt and little cousin escaped.
Rotor Walrus:
Boomer & Sprocket were an engineer and a mechanic from Ice Cap Zone** across the sea. Fearful of Robotnik's spreading mechanizations, as well as the construction of the Veg-O-Fortress in the nearby mountains, the husbands moved to Knothole Village.
They used a surrogate (who was also a walrus) to have their beloved son Rotor, whom they taught everything to. Fortunately, these guys are still around, and Rotor's birth mother even visits from time to time!
**Angel Island doesn't exist in this AU, so it's just a regular arctic area someplace
Charles Julian "Chuck" Boom (the Hedgehog) had a brother named Oglivie Maurice Boom. The gift of speed was a recessive trait in hedgehogs; both brothers possessed it, but it only manifested for Chuck.
When Chuck left to join the Acorn Royal Guard and live in the castle full-time, he frequently communicated with his family, but he gradually lost contact thanks to Robotnik's war. Unbeknownst to him, Oglivie and the woman he'd married, Aleena the Hedgehog, had a child they were forced to give up.
Their son was dropped at the orphanage, and he would inherit the rare hedgehog speed gene. The parents couldn't have given the baby to Chuck while he was still being a soldier, but they hoped the two would find each other eventually.
Kirby Guardian idea: if the Company was born from Ribbon instead
Spoilers for episode 6 onwards!!
I doubt if @KimiOmega will ever see this, but if they do, I hope it's appreciated XD
I'm a huge fan of this AU and this thought just struck me---what if the 10 little Kirbys were born from Ribbon's emotions instead of Adeleine's? I came up with some names and traits!
The General (red) = The Captain (magenta)
The Captain's personality is mainly the same, being a born leader, but he has a slightly less militaristic approach to managing his 9 brothers. Given that Ribbon's a pilot, he's easily the best Warp Star flyer. His copy ability is UFO (just like mama!).
OddOne (orange) = SillyOne (yellow)
This jolly fellow would be created from Ribbon's exuberant nature. He's not a prankster, but rather an unflappable optimist who does whatever he can to keep The Company's spirits up! His copy ability is Circus.
OldOne (classic eyes) = WiseOne (brown)
WiseOne reflects Ribbon's high intelligence and technical know-how. It's too bad he's too small to hold any tools, or else he would have just built her UFO for her, lol. His copy ability is Doctor.
CutesyOne (pink) = SweetOne (fuchsia)
This one is also pretty similar to his canon counterpart, being an innocent little sweetie-pie, but SweetOne is a lot more needy for affection. This is due to Ribbon's deep desire for belonging and wanting to be loved for who she is. His copy ability is Suplex (free hugs!).
CautiousOne (green) = ConsciousOne (white)
...Or should I say, "Self-ConsciousOne," because this Kirby was born from Ribbon's insecurities. He's constantly worried about what people think of him and tries to hide how he feels, but usually ends up panicking as a result. His copy ability is Wing (how ironic).
LostOne (teal) = CuriousOne (sky blue)
CuriousOne seems like the total opposite of LostOne! Reflective of Ribbon's desire to escape to a new world, this Kirby actively seeks out new experiences and wants to learn about the world around him. His copy ability is Hi-Jump.
ProudOne (blue) = FancyOne (purple)
The dress-up king of The Company, FancyOne was born from Ribbon's love of expressing her identity through fashion. He's quite hoity-toity, but deep down he cares about his image. He also really loves shiny things (especially crystals). His copy ability is Mirror.
GlumOne (violet) = LonelyOne (gray)
LonelyOne is just like GlumOne...the Eeyore of the group. This sad little guy was born from Ribbon's reclusiveness, so it takes a while to make him feel welcomed. His copy ability is Ice.
BitterOne (purple) = OrneryOne (scarlet)
This Kirby is also just like his canon counterpart, constantly mean-mugging and trying to keep people away. He's reflective of Ribbon's anger toward her kind, so he has quite the spiteful attitude as well. His copy ability is Fire (so that makes Lonely and Ornery twins, just like Glum and Bitter!).
BleakOne (black) = DarkOne (one eye)
Finally, there's DarkOne, the only Kirby with one eye. He was born from the very small amount of corruption in Ribbon's soul from being part Disprite. He doesn't really speak much, and never emotes...he just...watches most of the time. His copy ability is unknown, but he seems to be able to take at least 7 different, basic forms.
Lumaly has a special attack that's only available in her star form, where she becomes a supernova and explodes, completely destroying herself and anything within range.
She'd die after this.
Although, there WOULD be quite a lot of stardust left after that... Could she possibly be reborn?
Stage 1 (Baby): Age 0-1. Just born into the world from Magolor's residual energy and emotions in the dimensional abyss. He is easy prey and will soon have his ear bitten off, but hey, at least he'll discover his fear aura!
Stage 2 (Child): Age ~1-10. His current state in the canon timeline. Barely scratched the surface of his aura powers and knows very little magic.
Stage 3 (Adolescent): Age ~11-17. Living in Dream Land has made him adapt to the appearance of the common folk. He physically ages at a slower rate than his human mother, who would be in her 50s, but his powers rapidly grow.
Stage 4 (Adult): Age ~18-39. He hit a growth spurt in his mid/late teen years and fully physically developed into a humanoid creature. Due to their differences in aging, his mother would be in her late 80s/early 90s when he was in his 20s, and she'd pass away. Fortunately, he would also fully have a grip on his aura powers and begin training to wield the astral spear Andromeda.
Stage 5 (Middle-aged): Age ~40-70. As he matures from being a young adult, he becomes more confident and rugged. His training is complete, and he's at the strongest he's ever been, even growing whiskers to further harness his auras. He becomes known as a hero across Popstar and the New World. His fur starts to gray slightly.
Stage 6 (Elderly): Age 70-??. Everyone around him stayed the same while he continued to age, just like his mother. He got too old and gray to fight, so he eventually retired. It was time to say goodbye---someone was waiting for him in the stars...
In Dimentios opinion this counted as a first kiss. It went bad. They did not apologise for being rude about it. And probably demanded further affection afterwards. So rude
