Weirdly enough, Dragonslayer actually makes Deathbringer’s actions throughout the first arc make so much more sense. Like yeah if I were a very lonely assassin who already didn’t really want to be one, and I met a talking animal who I assumed was a hallucination, and it told me that it was my conscience and to not go through with my next assignment and then threatened me to take it to an enemy palace, maybe I’d throw away everything for the first charming stranger I was supposed to kill too. Idk, sounds like a real life-changing experience.

i wonder how Sky feels that Wren, who is older than him in years, who is the one that raised him yet isn’t his mom, his only friend for almost his entire life, the one who he has grown up with his entire life, is technically younger than him. Sky is an adult dragon (8). Wren is a teenager (15).

i wonder how he feels about humans aging so much slower and yet so much quicker than dragons. i wonder how he’ll feel decades from now, when he is now aging slower than her yet in the past he aged faster. how will he feel a century from now.

Wren is older than him by 7 years and yet she is still a child and he is not and she is the one that raised him.

To be honest I think that a lot of people who share the anti Jason Todd sentiment don't even actually hate Jason. I think a lot of them hate what he forces the narrative to do.

Jason forces the subversion of the hero genre -- he's the single, most extreme proof that Batman's hero fantasy wouldn't be effective in real life, and therefore Jason showing up can take you out of the universe really fast really hard. A lot of people are here for what comics are meant to offer, the one man hero fantasy that makes you Feel Good, and Jason showing up doesn't Allow you to enjoy it! And if that's the case, you're completely justified in not liking Jason, he takes you out of the thing you enjoy.

I think a lot of you don't actually find his personality or acts annoying in of themselves, you just hate what those actions do to the genre itself. And I think once you realize that and start looking at comics like actual pieces of literature, Jason and shitty comics both will become a lot less rage inducing to you.

I find the fact that the confrontation at the end of UTRH is often summarized as Jason asking Bruce to kill the Joker for him fascinating.

Because that's not what happened.

Jason holds a gun up to Joker's head, gives Bruce another, and tells him that if Bruce doesn't do something (shoot Jason), he will kill Joker.

Jason doesn't give the gun to Bruce so that he would shoot Joker. He isn't expecting Bruce to pull the trigger on the clown. He's asking Bruce to do nothing. To be inactive. Because that will still be a choice, and despite having done nothing, everybody clearly agrees that Bruce would still, at least in part, be responsible for Joker's death.

...And to me, this moment is a kind of- microcosm, of the rest of Jason's point. Because after being captured and carted off to Arkham, the villain will escape again, and will kill more people. The only way to truly prevent that from happening would be to kill them; Bruce refuses to do so, and I respect his right to choose such a thing for himself, but it is still a choice, and if we agree that Bruce's inaction during the confrontation would leave him at least partly responsible for the Joker's death, then we must also agree that his inaction in permanently preventing the Rogues from killing more people means he is also, partly, responsible for all of those deaths.

Evidence: we know Mahtan had a beard weirdly young (= premature male pattern balding), and Thingol entered the third stage of life associated with beard growth early due to grief (= hair loss from grief/stress). Also Cirdan isn’t the only super old Elf but he’s the only one with a beard from normal aging just like not all human men go bald with age!

But also imagine Elves being like “Does premature male-pattern bearding run in your family?”

trying to work out who would be the weak link at the fellowship garden barbecue. obviously not sam, frodo doesn't really cook but does bring a huge amount of expensive cheese and wine from bilbo's cellar so he's out. merry and pippin exceed expectations which are admittedly low. boromir and gimli bring insane quantities of meat and spend the whole time at the grill cooking it and flexing, which is befitting of these kind of things. might be legolas but i think he would bring a lot of mushrooms, herb marinades, salads etc which is a good balance which unfortunately leaves mr six pack and trail jerky aragorn son of arathorn.
