One thing I hate is when there is proper queer rep in a show and people get mad or ignore it because it's not the rep you want or like. For example, when there is a show with a main sapphic couple, or with trans characters, but some people ignore it and proceed to whine about lack of queer rep. There isn't a lack of rep, there IS queer rep. For example, you're allowed to want and ask for mlm rep in media, and I agree with you, but you can't erase the fact that there is queer rep in that particular piece of media just because it's not the one you want?

Those are the kinda shows I was talking about, actually.

The Owl House is a show with a main sapphic couple, Luz, the protagonist, is bisexual and her girlfriend Amity is a lesbian. Eda, Luz's mentor and another main character, is bisexual as well, and ends up in a relationship with Raine, who's non-binary. As well as some other characters who are also confirmed as queer (Lily being aroace, for example, or Willow and Hunter also being queer, and some others). That is all great rep. But some people prefer mlm rep and are critical/demand more rep, even if The Owl House does already have mlm characters, such as Willow's dads. They're just not the main characters.

RWBY has queer rep, as well. Yang and Blake, two of the four protagonists, are both sapphics —Blake is confirmed bisexual, Yang still does not have a confirmed orientation— and they're canonically in a romantic relationship. There are a few other side or minor characters in the franchise who are also queer, such as Ilia or Coco, who are both canonically lesbians; Velvet, who is kind of pretty much implied sapphic; Jaune's sister, Saphron, and her wife Terra, who are sapphic and married and have a son together; May Marigold, who is a trans woman. Or Scarlet and Nolan —Sun's teammates—, who are gay. You can argue that you'd like more mlm rep in the show, and I agree, but erasing the main sapphic couple and all the other queer characters is just-- no.

Thing is, there's so many shows out there with no queer rep whatsoever. In fact, the vast majority don't have any. Plenty of shows are outright homophobic or full of malicious queerbait. But rather than go after them, people would all apparently much rather target actually queer positive shows full of queer representation for supposedly not doing enough or not doing it well enough or not having their specific preferred flavor of queer.
